This is a nice one from INEC. I have always been worried about the proliferation of the political parties in Nigeria. The number kept increasing every year, obviously for the pecuniary interest of the political class. How on earth would an uneducated woman in a rural area have been able to differentiate between those political parties, with many of them bearing similar names and using almost identical symbols.

Good job, INEC. Well done!

In my Company, I don't really employ people based on the presentation or the volume of their CVs rather by grading their intelligent quotient. Half of the Jobs in Nigeria can be done by anybody with high IQ after brief training or even on the Job training.

Don't mind the voluminous thesis people call CV and University abused Script called Certificate.

Natural(talent) and Home acquired Intelligence is still an assets when combine with definite specialized training and education not forgetting industrial/workplace experience.

Always talk with your "would be" employee without minding the "papers" to ascertain his/her Intelligent Quotient before issuing an appointment letter.

The underlined ones above indicate that your INTELLIGENCE QUOTIENT is abysmally low. You really should not be in a position to decide on recruitment matters!

I agree with Mallam Sanusi on this. The system of government we practice in this country is clearly obstrucive of meaningful development.
Continuous creation of states will only widen the recurrent expenditure base since more ministries would be created, and they would need more ministers and their aids to run them.

And for those criticising the CBN governor for expressing what I like to call PROFOUND TRUTH, do not forget that one reason he is there is to identify weaknesses in the system and recommend solutions. That he entered the office he now occupies by reason of the Federal Character charade is not reason for him not to voice out his opinion.

If we must move this nation forward we all need to be constructive in our criticisms and be as objective as possible in appraising and/or evaluating issues. Some of our comments only inflame the already tense political environment. It is also not enough to criticise we should endeavour to profer solutions on how the issues under focus can be best addressed in the overall interest of the political entity called Nigeria. Some of the reports we get from the international community is directly connected to what we say about our country. Just yesterday we read that Transparency International indicated that the country has made some progress in its fight against corruption, yet some of us did not see it that way. It is the name you call your pet that it bears. If we need things to change for good in this country we need to also change on some of attitudes that have the potentials to destroying our country.

There are many reasons why Nigerians do not respect security personnel. Some of these are as follows?

1.) Many security personnel have indulge in daylight robbery - extorting money from innocent citizens.

2.) It is common knowledge that a very good percentage of them are as corrupt as the country's politicians.

3.) They are highly unprofessional in their dealings with the general public.

4.) Many of them are unkept and not the best breed of the educated men and women.

5.) Many of them, having turned themselves to semi- gods, have naturally alienated themselves from the general public.

I have not implied that there is nothing good about our security personnel. They are the best they can be within the it is time dispel protesters.

There really are a huge gap between life in America and Nigeria. United States of America has been buil
t over a period of about 200 years. Nigeria is still growing. Oh, yes we have to learn from the mistakes of others to learn faster than those others did but to lascerate the country at the slightest provocation is most uncharitable. I have read many unprintable things people say about our country. However, it remains truth that it is the only country we can call our own.

United States of America, as a today offer better prospects to life . That is truth. Howevere, I know there is light at the far end of d tunnel. Nigeria will work again!

I really feel disturbed that many of us think so harshly about everything that concerns Nigeria and the president. What the president had with the journalists was a chat, not a congress session or a debate. It is walking in error to conclude that all the president did was abracadabra, and certainly more grievous error to pour in sacastic remarks about the person of the president. Gentlemen and ladies, it is my candid opinion that we become constructive in our criticisms and make useful suggestions that will move the country forward.

Without fear of being exposed to canage by those with oratory sword, I dare say that many of us here are destructive with words and seem to be woven in everything negative.This would explain why many never see anything good come their ways, and they up living on the destitution of online perversion.

The presidential chat was informative. The president is doing his bit to reconstruct a nation that has been at the very peak of economic and political malaise. Let us keep praying that things get better, and if at the end of his tenure we do not have things to cheer about, we have our options.

'Bail is free', that is what we hear. I don't know of any police station that does that in Nigeria. Usually the IPOs would come out to tell one that their oga( DPO) would not have agreed to granting the bail if not for his/her magnanimity. So,one is asked to bring out some money in appreciation of that gesture. I don't know whether that is what they mean by bail if free.

In Nigeria,laws are applied loopsidedly to favour the privileged. For those who don't any influence, bail is never free!

igeria’s foreign exchange reserves rose to a 2-year high of US$38.50 from $38.38 billion by August 27. It increased by 4.25 per cent month-on- month to N38 billion as at last Friday, and stood at $36.43 billion on July 27, as well as $33.47 billion a year ago. Available data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) shows that the figures have not been as high as this since August 10, 2010, when they stood at $38.59 billion.

This was up from N36.39 billion one month earlier, due to strong oil prices, forex inflows from non-CBN sources to the official market, including banks and oil firms. The figure, which is the highest this year and follows monetary policy tightening measures introduced by the CBN, have continued to grow gradually since July 24, when the apex bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) reduced the Net Open Position (NOP).

NOP is the amount of foreign exchange banks can hold as a percentage of their shareholders’ funds. CBN reduced NOP to one per cent from three per cent and increased their cash reserve requirements to 12 per cent of total assets from eight per cent. The measure is said to have given the CBN a breather from pulling from its foreign reserves to defend the naira at the forex market.

The bank also barred banks that borrowed naira funds from its official window from using those funds to buy dollars at its bi-weekly auction in a bid to crack down on currency speculation. Analysts said the reserves gained as a result substantial dollar sales on the official market by banks seeking to comply with the CBN’s directive to reduce their net open position, NOP, from three to one per cent.

“The tightening of monetary policy has been very effective in terms of keeping the exchange rate fairly within the band, which damps the impact of imported inflation,” the CBN governor earlier said. The Executive Secretary of Financial Market Dealers Association, Mr. Wale Abe, had predicted that the reserves will increase on crude oil prices and WDAS funding.

Meanwhile, the naira strengthened against the U.S. dollar on the interbank market yesterday, supported by dollar sales by some local units of foreign banks selling to stay within their stipulated open position limits. HOW ABOUT THIS. MOD, TO MAKE A THREAD!

Quite frankly, stated GEJ's administration has failed to address burning issues that have eaten deep into the continuity of Nigeria as a political entity. There have been overwhelming evidence of incompetence in addressing security and economic issues. However, i defer with you on your point-range shot against his kinsmen as those responsible for the administration's incongruent handling of the nation's problems. To be fair to this current administration, appointments to political positions have been near even. The kinsmen of GEJ have been objective in their criticisms . We have read about some of them opening blazing fire of cricitism against the administration. It is, therefore, capricious to jump to conclusions the way you just did in your post.

At that time, though the article was published, some people did not seem to agree with my line of arguement. Today, the truth is staring at us on our faces. The entity called Nigeria has been wrongly structured from the beginning, created on every element of political and economic injustice. There is need to serious satnd on the existing structure, it is not working for us. Confederation is a much better alternative. Let the country be divided into regions, naturally four regions, and each region to contribute to the funding of the centre. This way, those bullish, pot-belly thieves who parade themselves as politicians would stop seeing it as a do-or-die thing. Besides, it will promote competition at the regions, as each region should or be seen to be working hard to develop with the resources available to it. The regions in Nigeria are all endowed with natural resources, not just the oil in the south. All they need to do is to look inwards.May God help us.]
