Joy Ogochukwu Omewa 22yrs old played 23 League games in the Danish 🇩🇰 Elitedivisionen scoring 22goals and 4 assists…!
|
AkinDS:How do you see Michelle Alozie? She seems to have gotten better in Defense. I wish she would play more as a Defender for her clubside as well… |
AkinDS:Joy only needs call up as she was born here in Nigeria, Played for the local clubs here eg Confluence Queen and was a regular with the Youth National Team before moving to Denmark 🇩🇰 earlier on… |
I had an over 40Minutes conversation with my Friend over the phone concerning the WAFCON.. We argued a lot and he said we don’t have Defenders and midfielders that can stop the likes of Barbara Banda, Rachael Kundananji, Mupopo etc if we’re to meet Zambia 🇿🇲.. I was like what is Ucheibe and Co doing in the midfield?. Again we talked about Ayinde too, and he said Ayinde will likely play with a lot of caution because of the series of injuries she has gone through..! And he said Ucheibe performs better with Ayinde in Midfield that if paired with Abiodun she struggles. |
AkinDS:I chose not to include favour Emmanuel simply because she plays same Defensive Midfield or Box-2-Box just as Ayinde, Ucheibe and Abiodun who are already trusted legs and she’s currently struggling for minutes at San Diego Waves which made her terminate her contract few days ago..! To create the balance I had to move Ajibade to the Attacking Midfield position to balance things.. 3/3 Ayinde, Ucheibe and Abiodun then Echegini, Payne and Ajibade even though she’s to play from the right flank. |
Deltamani:Again we’re going to play WAFCON, not World Cup or Olympics… We need to be ready Physically for the Power Football, that’s why Someone like Edna Imade is needed as our No.9 Instead of Onumonu as no.9, I will rather play Monday Gift or Okoronkwo who’s a bit stronger than Onumonu at No.9!! And again we need Ayinde back in that Midfield. |
▪️Asisat Oshoala, Iffy Onumonu and Edna Imade should battle for the no.9 spot ▪️Rasheedat Ajibade and anyone among this 3 Esther Okoronkwo, Monday Gift, Rinsola Babajide should be our Wingers.. ▪️Rash & Babajide as wingers for me. ▪️Monday Gift a must super sub for Babajide as a Left Winger.! |
23players, I will pick 3GK, 7DF, 6MF and 7FW Going to the WAFCON this should be my pick for the forwards.. I will move Ajibade to the Midfield to take up space just to accommodate more forwards but play her on the Right Wing.. And I don’t think we need any other midfielders apart from this ones 1• Halimatu Ayinde 2• Christy Ucheibe 3• Deborah Abiodun 4• Onyi Echegini 5• Toni Payne 6• Rasheedat Ajibade My 7 Forwards 1• Asisat Oshoala 2• Ifeoma Onumonu 3• Esther Okoronkwo 4• Monday Gift 5• Rinsola Babajide 6• U. Kanu/ F. Ordega/ Any better Winger from NWPL 7• Edna Imade is a must (If she changes her mind to play for Nigeria) |
Going to the WAFCON, I think we need a better and more Physical No.9! This was one of the reasons I wan clamoring for Edna Imade beck would have preferred her over Onumonu.. Reason Why..! Edna is creative, skillful, quick, agile, and prolific forward, who is good in the air and capable of playing off the shoulders of the last defender, and has been described as an "immensely talented striker" who is "strong and powerful" and "a potent finisher from inside the box" with either foot, as well as her head. Iffy share same qualities though but i think Edna is better from the physical side of the game considering how Africa teams rely mostly on Pace and Power.! Edna will go physical than Onumonu! Note; I don’t mean to discredit Ifeoma Onumonu as she’s a better Presser, but i will chose Imade even though she hasn’t played Internationally Football before..!

AndSunGorilla:The pitch was replaced with an Hybrid surface…. And it really look good while they were playing under the rain 🌧️ on that day.! |

yinkeys:I can’t tell how good the pitch is right now but with the rain of yesterday, it safe to say it’s pretty okay! And again the fans turn out was also very decent. If they can make it the Home of the SuperFalcons for now it would be good especially when the 2026 WAFCON qualifying games starts. |
isan:MKO Abiola stadium 🏟️, Abeokuta! |
A Better Highlight here…! Rinsola Babajide might as well play herself into that Left Wing Position ahead of Kanu…! Miracle Usani is developing so so fast. The good thing is she can play on both side (Full Back), Imuran better watch out not to lose the Left Back position to her behind Ashleigh Plumptre! Echegini is a talent.. Abiodun a steel in midfield We might need a faster and aggressive Finisher not Onumonu. One of the reason i was wishing for Edna Imade.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcOym4k9bCg?si=EG8cJM58p-oB1jdT

|
isan:I would have preferred the Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 team, they ever ready… They’re another very physical and Speedy side that could prepare the falcons for the WAFCON properly..
|
isan:Cameroon are currently in Lagos… trained twice already. The problem is the internal crisis in their Federation is really affecting the team.. According to reports even South Africa wanted a friendly game against them because of their Physicality and how rigid the Cameroonian play in preparation for the WAFCON… Anyway let’s just manage the one leg fixture on Tuesday and move on to Portugal game..! |
CornOak:No more 2nd fixture… Just a one leg game… |
daveP:She’s mainly played in Midfield for the U17 team right now.. I do fancy her as a winger as well.., Her versatility will be useful though but she look like those players who doesn’t have the Speed of a winger but can play there very well due to their intelligence.. |
daveP:Okay I get cause JOE is her major competitor in that position of who’s to start. And I like that! Just as we have Ayinde, Ucheibe and Abiodun in CDM/Box-2-Box role. |
isan:I think the thread have reduced a little., One thing again is that they’re not even looking like men like those Zambia Players.. |
daveP:This one no be question na… According to the hierarchy… Onyi Echegini, Esther Onyenezide then the rest of the youngsters can come in when they play their way up there.! |
daveP:I have seen a lot of criticism about this girl, that she isn’t good and don’t deserve a call up… But again I’m wondering if she is very Bad, why would Randy of all Coach invite her back then and Madugu still do thesame?? I know she did play only few games for Bayelsa Queens this past season but again haven watch her play on few occasions, she can be better and should be considered as well.. She’s well built, have a great height and a good shot stopper. Her grips are pretty okay, commands the box well, good in aerial balls, can also save penalties very well… Don’t know much about her Ball playing and 1-V-1 abilities though.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxbee4p9SoY?si=Y0D0Sfm0Y-EX2qjg
|
daveP:Yeah yeah… But her size isn’t a major problem though, have seen Goalkeepers bigger than her perform well.. As she grows she will reduce gradually..! Look at Judith Chime, Rachael Ayegba they were far bigger than her but still played at the top level.. |
daveP:And what is wrong with her??

𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐂 𝐒𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐃 𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒' 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒: 𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 The inclusion of eight Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) players in the Super Falcons’ 23-player squad for the friendly matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses on May 31 and June 3, 2025, reflects a strategic blend of fresh talent and experienced players. Under interim head coach Justine Madugu, this approach aims to prepare the team for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled for July 5–26, 2025, in Morocco. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐖𝐅𝐋 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐈𝐬 𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐧: ▫️Injection of Fresh Talent and Energy: Players like Bolaji Olamide and Blessing Ilivieda, who’ve been killing it in the NWFL, bring a ton of energy and hunger to the squad. Combined with motivated returnees like Francisca Ordega and Rinsola Babajide, who are itching to prove they still got it, and you’ve got a squad ready to compete. ▫️Tactical Flexibility and Depth: The new invitees allow Madugu to experiment with formations and playing styles during the friendlies. This builds squad depth, reduces reliance on star players, and helps identify substitutes for potential injuries or fatigue at WAFCON, while preserving key players’ energy. ▫️Support for Local League Development: Selecting eight home-based players signals the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) confidence in the NWFL, encouraging the growth of domestic women’s football and inspiring younger players. ▫️Cost-Effective Talent Pool: Utilizing local players minimizes logistical and financial challenges compared to recalling foreign-based stars, simplifying travel and camp arrangements for friendlies. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐎𝐮𝐭 ▫️Limited Exposure to Elite Competition: NWFL players are talented, but they might struggle against a strong side like Cameroon since they don’t face that level of competition often. Nigeria’s got nine WAFCON titles, so the pressure’s on, and mistakes could attract scrutiny and affect player confidence. Plus, blending newbies with stars like Chiamaka Nnadozie and Rasheedat Ajibade might take time, potentially disrupting team cohesion. ▫️Tactical Uncertainty: With only one match—a 2-1 loss to France—since December 2023, the Super Falcons lack recent game time compared to rivals like South Africa, who played five matches in the same period. An unsettled squad could hinder Madugu’s ability to establish a consistent playing style for WAFCON’s Group B opponents (Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana). ▫️Fan and Media Backlash: Excluding in-form players like Gift Monday has sparked criticism, which could create negative sentiment and pressure the coaching staff, potentially distracting from preparations. ▫️Risk of Underperformance: With just two months until WAFCON, an untested squad risks repeating Nigeria’s disappointing fourth-place finish in 2022, undermining their status as Africa’s most successful women’s team. ▫️Logistical Challenges: Frequent squad changes demand resources for scouting and integration, which could strain the NFF’s budget, especially if foreign-based players are recalled later. As Africa’s most successful women’s team with nine WAFCON titles, the Super Falcons have a big rep to uphold. If this mixed squad doesn’t click, it could hurt their image and let down fans, especially after losing the title to South Africa in 2022. Madugu needs to use these friendlies to get everyone working together and fine-tune the game plan, while the NFF sorts out money and logistics. Balancing fresh NWFL talent with experienced players is key to getting Nigeria back on top in Morocco. ✍🏿 Vine Chimezirim
