ekehopp2:Look like things didn’t really work out at Madrid CFF, let’s hope for something good from Israel 🇮🇱. |
Paris Saint-Germain's women's team beat Le Havre AC 4-0 at PSG Campus in their third summer pre-season match. The first half ended goalless at 0-0. The second half was marked by the introduction of new signing Joe Echeghini, who was making her first appearance for Paris. The Nigerian showed the full extent of her talent when she set up Tara Elimbi Gilbert in the penalty area, but the young left-footer unfortunately missed her one-on-one (57'). Fabrice Abriel made a number of changes on the hour mark, including the introduction of Éva Gaetino, who was making her first start of the summer preparations. Les Parisiennes looked increasingly dangerous in the second half, with shots from Joe Echeghini and Thiniba Samoura. Romée Leuchter finally opened the scoring with a fine shot across goal (1-0, 72'). Moments later, the new Parisienne doubled her tally with a magnificent free-kick from 25 metres out (2-0, 79'). And Romée Leuchter was not done yet, as she followed up for her hat-trick following a cross from Thiniba Samoura (3-0, 81')! Initially with her back to goal to control the ball, the Dutch international quickly turned and found the back of the net. Three goals in all, demonstrating all the ability of Paris's new signing. After the Leuchter show, it was the turn of another new signing to shine: Joe Echegini. Echegini scored her first goal for Paris Saint-Germain after receiving a pass from young Lina Mokthar Jamai, who was making her first start for the professional team (4-0, 88'). The match ended 4-0 in favour of Paris Saint-Germain. Fabrice Abriel's side have now completed their third successful warm-up match, and can now look forward to their summer tour of Australia with confidence...!

daveP:I mean make quicker and precise decisions with the ball.. Their passing still look slow for the kind of level we’re talking about. |
daveP:If they can add some pace to their play they stand a chance of winning the Champions League.. |
This Lyon Squad is Epic… like Everywhere is stacked. Having Chawinga, Diani, Dumornay running at you from the flanks.. Hegerberg on top! Only Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City that have a good enough Squad to compete with them in the Champions League this season.. I don’t see PSG, Bayern Munich, Wolfburg and Juventus having a chance.!

lovewins:Anyway let me continue to laugh in my usual Swedish way for now…! |
lovewins:But you said Spain doesn’t use professionals… How come their squad is made up of the most..? Again If it comes to the U17 & U20 Women’s Football in the World USA, Brazil, Nigeria, Germany, Japan, North Korea have been the main stay… It’s something they have been good at no matter what. Spain just came up in recent time and it seems they have come to stay.. The likes of France, South Korea Colombia are next in line.. So we can’t take that away from the Japanese and North Korea as they have their way of doing it. Our own league have never been that standard but we keep bringing out players at the age grade level till date. |
lovewins:It seems you’re underrating the quality of the Asian Women’s Football League, if you have been following them you won’t pick out North Korea and Japan who have always been good at the age grade level too.. To take note of… China, South Korea and Japan league have quality players even from Africa, Brazil, Australia, USA and other countries. They do play there and I know of some Nigerian Players who have played there and some that still play there. Except the North Korea side which I know too well that Foreign Players don’t go there in the Women’s game. |
AndSunGorilla:No mind, At the end he ran away from saying Spain doesn’t use professional players at the U20 level… even Vicky Lopez and that small no.10 I can’t remember her name now was already playing Pro with Madrid CFF before playing at the U17 World Cup..! |
lovewins:2010 & 2014 is how many years ago…. you’re talking as if there hasn’t been any development around the world of the Women’s Football… now 15, 16 and 17yrs are now going pro earlier than before…! Some even skipping College. |

South Africa tipped as the next hosts of the WAFCON in 2025 By Velile Mnyandu South Africa is in pole position to host the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in July next year and South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan has confirmed that they have already engaged the government about their plans. Morocco were set to host the WAFCON tournament this year, but it was postponed to next year as it clashed with the Olympics. The North African country is also set to host the men’s AFCON in December 2025, and they have since stepped aside from hosting the WAFCON. Jordaan says they have made their intentions clear to CAF about hosting WAFCON. ''Well, we have submitted to CAF our intention for the next WAFCON, of course that WAFCON was awarded to Morocco. CAF must now respond to us, if they say yes - it will give us the opportunity to defend our title at home, and it is a huge opportunity for Banyana,'' said Jordaan. Banyana, the reigning African champions, had already qualified for the WAFCON after beating Burkina Faso 3-1 on aggregate. Jordaan says they are now focused on playing strong international opposition in preparation for the WAFCON. Desiree Ellis’ team is already scheduled to meet European champions England in Coventry in October. ''We also have to try and renew the Banyana team, and have them play friendly matches against big federations in world football, and I guess now it is up to CAF to give us a response,'' added Jordaan. South Africa last hosted the WAFCON in 2010; Banyana Banyana finished third in that tournament as Nigeria beat Equatorial Guinea in the final. The next WAFCON is scheduled for 6-25 July next year, and the AFCON is penciled in for 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. Jordaan reveals that they are not the only country interested in hosting this WAFCON tournament. CAF has yet to make a decision on the next hosts, but SABC Sport has learnt that SA is the preferred host as they already have the stadia, and the infrastructure required to stage the tournament. With SAFA also interested in bidding for the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup after dropping out of the race for the 2027 tournament, which was awarded to Brazil, Jordaan confirmed that they intend to push ahead with that bid, as they have also received support from the Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie.
