PoliticsRe: Buhari, Father Of Modern Nigeria – Chris Ngige by Deltatoto: 10:39am On Mar 23, 2019
Okwyla:
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has described President Muhammadu Buhari as the father of modern Nigeria. In an interview conducted by GEOFFREY ANYANWU in Awka, Anambra State, Ngige said with the solid foundation being laid by the President in all sectors, Nigeria would soon boom again. Ngige spoke on the new minimum wage and other national issues.

Before the election, the issue of minimum wage was raging. Was it a political strategy?

There is nothing political about it. This President cares about workers. I care about workers; I have been a worker before, so, we all feel the pains. We all know that the economy; at least, that the minimum wage will move from the present N18,000 to something else. So, that was why we did all the negotiations as should be done. The President put up a committee that advised him, recommended N30,000, even though the recommendation was not by consensus as required by the ILO Conventions and Regulations but the President in his magnanimity listened to the governors who currently are unable to pay the N18,000 now and who made a case and said that they have submitted a bid for N22,500. So, he said that they should come up with good statistics to convince him on why they cannot pay the N30,000. The Senate had on Tuesday also okayed N30, 000 and as they had passed the bill, anytime they go to Mr. President for assent, he will do so. He has given his word on that.

On employment, your party spoke of giving Nigerians work, what do we expect to see in the next four years in this regard?

The employment situation will be much better this time around, because we are continuing with our economic recovery and growth plan which in the main is for us to diversify the economy; that is the main thrust of that plan; diversification of the economy so that the economy does not rely on oil only for us to make money. It has already been done, we are achieving results. Our earnings from taxes, whether it’s customs duty or Internally Generated Revenue, have increased so much that the collection from the FIRS alone is in the region of Trillions. We also have collection from Customs, we have collections from other offices, other royalties, taxes from oil miners, gas explorers and people in the oil-related industries. All those taxes have since been well harnessed and more importantly, we have blocked leakages. The single treasury account has put every fund in public glare, funds that were under the table that can be swept off or stolen without anybody seeing them; they are all now placed on the table by the TSA, all accounts are now TSA account and in the Central Bank and you can now know what this establishment has and if this establishment is paying money, you know to whom they paid it, for what purpose and how much. So, these are the things that are in the ERGP.

Agriculture again is a major source of diversification and today, we are eating what we produce, what we grow here. Rice for example is a major staple here and we have been consuming before now, about five to 10 tonnes a day in terms of importation of rice from outside, China and the rest of them but today, 95 per cent of the rice we eat is produced from Nigeria. Five percent, imported. In fact, people told me that it’s about three percent to two percent now but we are looking forward in this clime to exporting rice so that we can do 100 percent our rice here, do 100 per cent of our beans here, sorghum was already on the world map, we are third best exporter and the other things. So, we need to start earning money from agriculture. We should be, we have the fertile soil. We have the soil, we have the workforce; young workforce unlike the old times. We also have better facilities now in terms of fertilizer, in terms of equipment and so, agriculture should be a major stay. It can become our main stay after oil, followed by solid minerals. There are a lot of solid minerals here that are untapped. We’re going to do them and make no mistake about it, President Buhari is the father of modern Nigeria. He is the one laying all the foundations and these foundations are solid foundations not fragile and all these that he is doing translate to more infrastructure and for as long as you have more money, you can do more infrastructure. So, we are doing more blockages, we are building more infrastructures through the money we are getting and through some loans, cheap money, cheap funds from China in particular to build railways, to do electricity, to do roads. These are the major infrastructure in the land and when you are doing infrastructures, you are creating jobs.

Power is another area that will be tackled, tackled very seriously in the next four years of President Buhari and when he tackles power, he will create a lot of small scale jobs; people who are doing vulcanizing, people who are doing tailoring, people who are doing carpentry, they will all resort to electricity and not the small generating sets where you will be buying fuel and diesel. The national grid power, you will see them, they will multiply their shops, they will put branches and these branches will employ people, many, many people. The big industries – Dunlop, Michelin and all these industries that fled to Ghana, they will come back because why they fled to Ghana was because of power. They will come back and when they come back here, they will utilize our local rubber and more rubber will be grown, more farmers will attend to rubber and all these are employment. So I’m looking forward to that and it will come.

Can you put a figure to how many people you have employed so far and how many are we expecting in this second term?

I can’t give you any figure because they come in various ways like through the Anchor Borrowers loans and these loans are used to improve fertilizer, and it’s been working. There’s a lot of money in farming, a lot. There’s this awareness now that farming is no longer a derogatory job. It’s even a job that makes you to be proud. In the North, they are the people who pay first for hajj before those that are government sponsored. They buy vehicles, they train their children; they send them to schools. Mr. President complained that the only aspect that worries him is that they are marrying more wives in the North. So, you can see that it is a major employment. It’s only in the South; South-South and South East that you see people not taking farming seriously but if you go to Ayamelum area of Anambra State, you’ll see what Coscharis is doing with rice farming. There are so many other big people there too; big rice mills that are there. If you go to Ebonyi, same. Today, Ebonyi rice cannot be compared to any rice in the world. It’s even better than Thai rice. The taste is sweeter, very delicious. So, you can now see that this country is changing and that is the change agenda we said we’re giving. So, after four years, we said that in another four years, we move you to the next level and this next level will be a level of Eldorado, I can assure you. This is the level that we shall attack power and infrastructure frontally, more vigorously than we are doing now; railways, roads, the harbours and water transportation, the airways, electricity and what have you. Once you do all these, you have created jobs. So, we expect more jobs will come. This is apart from the social intervention projects of N-power where we today have at least half a million young graduates who could not get jobs being given temporary appointment for two years on N30,000 per month and Shell improvement programme of conditional cash transfer for the vulnerable; those who cannot do anything anymore; for the weak and poor. AGIP which is another cash loan programme that is in hundreds of thousand for businesses, we intend to intensify all those; fine-tune them. There is the immediate term and then long term. This is the way it is spread.

Car TalkRe: 21 Causes Of Car Accidents That You Should Avoid by Deltatoto: 8:59pm On Mar 18, 2019
AutoJoshNIG:
In 2013, approximately 54 million people worldwide sustained injuries from vehicular traffic accidents.

This resulted in 1.4 million deaths in 2013, up from 1.1 million deaths in 1990.

About 68,000 of these occurred in children less than five years old.

Almost all developed countries have decreasing death rates, while the majority of third-world or developing nations have increased death rates due to vehicular crash or accidents.

Middle-income countries have the highest rate with 20 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, accounting for 80% of all road fatalities with 52% of all vehicles.

While the death rate from vehicular crashes in Africa is the highest (24.1 per 100,000 inhabitants), the lowest rate is to be found in Europe (10.3 per 100,000 inhabitants).

Vehicular crash or motor vehicle collision (MVC) don’t just occur. They often happen when we neglect some safety measure.  Some can be caused by human errors, others are beyond the prevention by motorists.

Autojosh.com highlights 21 Causes Of Car Accidents That You Should Avoid.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Distracted-driving-1.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
Distracted Driving
This is one of the major causes of car crashes. A distracted driver is a motorist that diverts his or her attention from the road, usually to talk on a cell phone, send a text message or eat food.  When driving, a motorist should ensure to maintain focus, and drive defensively.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Drunk-driving-100.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
2.   Drunk Driving

This is one of the most common causes of car accidents. When drunk, a driver loses the ability to focus and function properly, thus making driving in such condition very dangerous. It is often advised that one should use a designated driver when you go out for drinks.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Over-Speeding.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
3. Over-Speeding

Speed kills. This is a very popular saying. Indeed, over-speeding is another chief cause of car accidents. Many drivers ignore the speed limit and drive far above the limit. Traveling above the speed limit is an easy way to cause a car accident. This is because the faster you drive, the slower your reaction time will be if you need to prevent an auto accident.

https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Careless-Driving.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
4. Reckless Driving

Not driving carefully on the road, can lead to needless road mishap. Reckless driving can change lanes too quickly, tail-gating, over-speeding, not observing traffic lights, etc.

https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Rain.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
5. Rain

The roads tend to become dangerous, as the weather gets inclement. Abnormal weather conditions like rainfall can cause car accidents, as water creates slippery and dangerous surfaces for cars, trucks, and motorcycles. This can cause automobiles to spin out of control or skid while braking. To avoid a car accident, drive extra careful when it rains.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Running-The-Red-Light.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
6.  Running Red Lights

Many people are unaware of the grave dangers of running the red light of a traffic light. Drivers that run red lights, run the risk of causing needless death because they often cause side-impact collisions at high speeds. To avoid a car accident, look both ways for oncoming cars as you approach a green light.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Agbero-2.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
7. Harassment by touts/Agberos

This typically affects commercial motorists in Nigeria. Touts (agberos) or agents of the road transport unions are notorious for chasing after drivers who try to evade paying their levies and dues. In trying to escape paying the levies or dues, the motorist can ram into an impedance such as other vehicles or pedestrians.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Running-The-Stop-Sign.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
8. Running Stop Signs

It is dangerous to ignore Stop signs at traffic intersections. Doing this can lead to, serious car accidents. Each year, thousands of car accidents occur because one driver ran a stop sign. You should always look both ways when proceeding through a stop sign.

https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/teen-drivers.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
9. Teenage Drivers

Youthfulness and carefulness on the roads are a very rare combination. Indeed, young drivers aren’t often known for their carefulness. Sadly, when young drivers hit the roads they don’t always know what to do and that lack of experience ends up causing car accidents.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/charity-nnaji-survives-accident.jpg?w=534&ssl=1
10. Night Driving

Driving at night is dangerous for many reasons. It can impair your vision. When you cannot see what is ahead of you, you don’t know what to anticipate as you drive towards it. When driving at night, all your senses need to be at full alert.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Sharp-Bend.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
11. Making improper Turns

Ignoring stoplights, turn signals, and lanes designated for moving either right or left could be hazardous. Doing all these could put the driver or other motorists at huge risk, as an accident could occur. To prevent a car accident, always look for signs and obey the proper right-of-way before you make a turn.

https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Wrong-Way-Traffic-2.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
12. Wrong-Way Driving

Everyone has lapses in judgment, but when behind the wheel of a car, those clouded instincts can be deadly. You can turn down a street thinking it is a normal right turn when in actuality, it is a one-way street in the opposite direction. When you go the wrong way, you put everyone in danger.

https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Tail-gate-accident.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
13. Tailgating

Tail-gating is driving too close to the car ahead of you. It is dangerous to do this because it can make you not have enough time to react if the car ahead suddenly applies the brake. Many fatal car accidents have occurred when a motorist dangerously tailgated another driver at high speeds. You can prevent these sort of car accidents by giving the car in front of you a one-car-length distance.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Road-Rage.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
14. Road Rage

Driving when you are extremely angry is dangerous. It is common to have reasons to be angry at other motorists, but some drivers let their rage overcome them. By tailgating another driver in anger or speeding past another driver only to pull in front of them and brake, these road “ragers” may cause needless car accidents.

https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Pothole-100.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
15. Potholes

Potholes can be hazardous to motorists. Drivers run the risk of losing control of their car or blowing out a tyre when they drive over these potholes. If you see a pothole in your car’s path, you can avoid a car accident by making sure that your tyres do not drive into it.

https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Tyre-Blowout.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
16. Tyre Blowouts

Tyre blowouts can cause you to lose control of your vehicle, and they are especially dangerous for bigger automobiles like semi-trucks. When encountering a tyre blowout, try to maintain control of your vehicle and pull over safely and you will likely avoid a serious car accident.

https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/dangerous-curve-1.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
17. Dangerous Curves or bends

Sharp curves on roads can make motorist lose control of their cars. These dangerous bends can lead to accidents and loss of lives. So when you approach these signs, be cautious, slow down, to avoid a car accident.

https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Animal-crossing-1.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
18. Animal Crossings

Animals crossing the road can lead to a sudden halt of a car.  If there is another car coming behind that car, it might lead to a collision. Animals will wade out into the road, and it is up to you to make sure that you don’t get into a car accident with them.

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Car-Race-Accident.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
19. Street Racing

Street racing is a growing culture. No thanks to the Fast and the Furious movie franchise. This can lead to very fatal car accidents. Due to the high speeds of competing cars during a street race,  any resulting car collision will be much more dangerous and unlikely to yield any survivors.

https://i1.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Accident-On-Third-Mainland-Bridge-3.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
20. Faulty or Defective cars

Driving a faulty car or one with some defect is dangerous and can lead to an accident.

When a car stops suddenly due to a fault, it could lead to some risk. It could also get risky if you need to get over to another lane (i.e. exit from the expressway, get in the correct lane to make a turn, etc.).

https://i0.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Driving-Fatigue.jpg?w=600&ssl=1
21. Driving fatigue or Sleepiness

Tiredness or sleepiness is a common cause of road accidents. Most of the car accidents caused by drowsy driving occur at night or driving long distances. If you find yourself wanting to fall asleep at the wheel, pull over when it is safe and try to take a quick 30-minute power nap.

Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika and Oshimilli are Igbo people and nothing can change it. Our Ancestral igbo state is known as Anioma. They forced us into delta state and that's why today if they want to call us they will refer to us as Delta-Igbos meaning the Igbos in delta state.
But today it is a pity and very shameful to see some Ika people saying they are not Igbos all because they want to answer Niger-Delta which they don't even know the meaning; some even claim to be bini of which they don't even understand come in bini language. How can you be speaking bia which is an igbo dialect and be claiming bini? are you normal? How can you be bearing an igbo name and you are claiming bini? are you sure you are okay?
If you are one of such Ika people who deny their igbo identity my dear it is high time you wake up from ignorance and tell yourself some truth. can a Yoruba man give birth to a child and give him or her an igbo name? No! Then ask yourself why our parents in Ika are always giving their children an igbo names.

FamilyRe: What Is It With My Wife And Her Past Boyfriends? by Deltatoto: 9:52am On Mar 18, 2019
ruddyman500:
I got married to my wife in 2017 and we have been living together since, we have a child together but there is this problem with her anytime it has to do with any of her EX. i will cite some of what happened .

She wanted to organise a programme at a time and the person she could think of is one of her ex who happens to be a media guy, i told her point blank that i dont want her to go met the guy but she explained to me how the guy will be of help to her in the programme she is planning, i let her be cos i dont want to be seen as someone throwing spanners in the wheel of her progress, i supported her and the programme was a success.

Another instance was when her mother died, and they were planning the burial ceremony with her brothers...my wife got home and told me that she told her brothers that she will talk to a musician to come play at the ceremony and the said musician happens to be another ex of hers. i told her right there that am not comfortable with it at all how could ur ex come to sing at her mums burial and i will be there dancing to his tunes?...after so much back and forth , i told her i will only attend the church service and i or any of my people will not come for the party, that was when she made last minute changes and went to book another musician.

The last straw that broke the carmels back was yesterday....I and her have been having some issues of late and we talked over it infact we are just coming out of the tensions....then yesterday morning around 8am she told me that another ex of hers called her overnight and told her that his mum just passed away and he could not think of anyone to call but her cos he is so broken, she said she had sent her condolences already but that she will like to go greet the guy and his siblings cos they are in their fathers house [ the guy is still single ooo although they broke up in 2013] and that she will be able to know about the burial arrangements so she can plan on attending the burial..so she asked me for permission if she could go and pay them a visit yesterday..... Normally i wld not have allowed her but i thought what is she didnt tell me and went there and secondly cos of the tension we just went through and i dont want another tension to build again , i told her i will only allow her to either go greet them yesterday or she goes for the burial ...I told her i will only allow her to choose one . She then asked me in strong tone why i didnt wnat her to attend the burial.....At that point i left the room cos i was not ready for another round of arguments.

She did not say anything again until afternoon, i went to my living room and asked her if she is no more going on the visit again she said she already taken her bath and she will go n prepare now ....she entered the room and started dressing up, i went to meet her in the room and i told her that i allowed her to go cos i already gave her the permission but henceforth i will not allow such again ...Told her she is not the only person with exes , i dont allow issues of any of my own ex brew tension in my marriage , i told her i have an ex whose fathers house is just like 5 mins drive from inside the estate we live and when the man died my ex called me ..all i did was send her my condolence over the phone and i explained that i cant come for the burial cos i have a wife at home whose feelings i respect and that it ends there AT that point my wife flared up to the high heavens .....she started ranting that why am i caging her that i should give her reasons why she should not go that am just so obsessed with her am immmature, insecure and bla bla bla. I told her if loving my wife and protecting the dignity and integrity of my family for obsession then she is totally wrong. She said other men will not have any problem with it that why am i making an issue out of the situation, i explained to her that am not other men , What Mr A is comfortable with may not be so with Mr B cos we all have our individual differences .....One problem my wife have is she does not see reasons why i shld not accept what she seems right to her . I then told her to call any of her elder brother and explain this situation to him if he can allow such ....

This is a woman i never restricted her movements ....i only restricted her twice and they are both on health grounds...When she left i did what i have never done before [ i have never reported her to anybody either my family or hers no matter what happens i find a way we can solve it]...i called her very close friend and explained everything to her, the lady was surprised and she promised to talk to her....I also tried to call her elder brother who is a pastor but his phone is switched off and i have not been able to get through to him .When my wife came back
she did not even greet meat all , she came to take our baby from me which i refused her, she went straight into her room, i later went into the room to lay our baby and i went into the guest room to sleep cos am so much in anger and i dont want the neighbors to hear any noise from my flat.

please i need sincere and honest opinion from married people on here ....i want to know if am at fault and secondly what next step should i take
its good to marry a virgin.
