The corpses of nine children killed when a driver rammed into a procession of Boys Brigade members, celebrating Easter, late Sunday night in Gombe metropolis have been buried.According to report,the children were on the annual Easter Rally late Sunday night to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ when an unidentified policeman and Civil Defense personnel came across them around Alheri junction on Biu road in the metropolis.The chairman of the Gombe state Battalion of the Boys Brigade (BB), Isaac Kwadang said the incident happened around 11:30pm Sunday night.

According to him, the policeman and NSCDC officer, though not on official duty, met the procession while passing in their private car and exchanged words with some youths in the procession.

“After exchanging words with the youths, they allowed them to pass. However, they made a U-turn, put off the car’s light and rammed into them from behind, killing eight children on the spot and injuring 31 others.

“The unfortunate action provoked the survivors of the tragedy. Therefore, they chased the security officers, caught up with them and mobbed them to death,” Kwadang said. He added that they were able to calm the youths and still prevailing on them against further confrontation.

The names of the victims are:

Over eight persons have been killed and others injured in a fatal accident after a Dangote truck failed its brakes at Jattu junction area of Auchi in Edo state.

The truck which was loaded with bags of cement - was said to have crushed scores of people - killing about 8 on the spot and others seriously injured.

Earlier this month, many trucks belonging to Dangote company were vandalised and destroyed by angry youths after a Dangote truck driver recklessly killed a young Electrical Automobile apprentice at Uromi junction in Agbor kingdom, Delta state.

The mob smashed the windscreens of over 30 Dangote trucks packed along Uromi/ Igbanke.

The Delta state police command is looking into the death of Mr Prince Chukwuedo Iwelu, a contractor with the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, who went missing on Monday 8th of April, 2019 and was later found dead.

The 43-year-old deceased, an indigene of Ogwashi-uku and a contractor with the institution since 2010, was reportedly killed within the school premises. His decomposed body was reportedly found in one of the uncompleted buildings, four days after he was reported missing by his wife.

It was learnt that the deceased, who until his death, was the Asaba branch youth president of Ogwashi-Uku community, had instituted a court case against the school management for unlawfully terminating his contract.

According to the institution’s sources, Chukwuebo arrived at the school for the collection of N15m, being the proceeds of printed identity cards and other jobs executed for the school, on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the police invited some management staff for questioning on the incident.

Two persons – Arewa Adekunle (aka Barrister Tania Rivera) and Kadiri Yusuf Kayode – were on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, found guilty and sentenced to jail terms in offences filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office.

The duo respectively bagged six months and four months imprisonment before Justices Joyce Abdulmalik and P. I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court of the Ibadan Judicial Division.

The convicts had pleaded guilty to the separate one-count amended charges preferred against them by the EFCC which were products of the plea bargain proposed by their lawyers and agreed to by the commission.

The charges border on fraud and fraudulent impersonation.

Apart from bagging a jail term, Arewa was said to have already refunded the sum of $200 USD (Two Hundred United States American Dollars) as restitution to the victim of his fraud. He will also forfeit his HP Laptop and iPhone 6s to the federal government.
