Car TalkRe: Innoson Stops 85% Production Due To PMB's Policies, May Join 2Baba Protest by delvinmaya(m): 1:16pm On Jan 27, 2017
CXLVII:
The most Brilliant chap on this thread!

Some peeps just shouting "Protest" without knowing the cause of our present woes.
you and the person you are quoting are obviously high on something. The op complained about scarcity of forex, yes, but the protest is not just about that. The protest is to show the grievances of Nigerians. We are essentially saying that we can't be buying gas at double the amount, not kerosene. We are saying enough is enough with Ikeja Disco and other discos who are giving us scary bills for no light provided. We are saying the price of foodstuff and other essentials that have doubled needs to come down. We are saying enough is enough with clueless, delusional leaders and myopic followers. We are uniting to decry a lack of empathy towards victims of Fulani attacks and no justice for them. Stop defending what should not be defended and stand for the truth for once in your lives
PoliticsRe: Our Children Are Turning Into Prostitutes, We Are Suffering, Tell PMB -Lagosian by delvinmaya(m): 12:32am On Jan 03, 2017
Sighs

From the very first page of this thread to the last, you find it littered with so much bigotry, ethnicity and most especially foolish reasoning. The op clearly came with a mission to bait, and cause confusion which he or she succeeded in with fellow bigots keying in. Posting a video of someone complaining about the situation of the country which clearly affects most of the populace and alluding to the fact that it was shot in Lagos and the person complaining is from the Southwest shows the level of intelligence the op possesses. Furthermore elections were held in 2015, and this is 2017 and someone has refused to look ahead but chooses to wallow in mediocrity and form what is not.

This is why the next elections might tow the path of the last one, instead of working together to ensure we chase away the inept leaders we have, you are sharing videos and causing rift. It's really annoying when you realize that this generation are even worse than the generation blamed for the mess we are in. Ruled by some stupid sentiments of being from the east or west or north and being a Christian or a Muslim or a traditionalist. I mean do you even reason at all and ask or ponder the way forward instead of engaging in frivolous activities? Do you even want a better future for your children and their children? Why spread hate? Why act so childish and engage in ethnic sentiments when clearly it never helped anyone but gas held a whole continent down?

It's sad really seeing that people such as the dolts who litter this forum with their bigotry still exist but then what can one do?

PoliticsBill To Regulate Entreprenuers Passes Second Reading In Senate by delvinmaya(op): 10:10pm On Dec 03, 2016
Reading this particular piece of news was shocking to me. When exactly did we agree to regulate ideas in this country? Why would they even think to establish a chartered body for entrepreneurs and why would entrepreneurs be regulated? Lets be factual with ourselves, fighting the passage of this bill supersedes even the fight for data. What this means is that young and upcoming entrepreneurs will need to be monitored. Am guessing the modus operandi would be for the institute to invite you for an interview, and if they think your idea wont work, your dreams are crushed. Sincerely, this Assembly do not have the masses at heart, neither do they want the young and upcoming to grow. Imagine if this institute were to have been established way back before or Hotels.ng or interswitch. Lets us fight this

Well OP has stated his opinion and really you have to understand that OP is saying that you should consider all options. I believe OP never meant to belittle anyone. I would advise like OP that people witho have been selected should understand what exactly it entails. Also someone mentioned the fact that you can't get federal employment while working as a volunteer.
I understand that 30k might seem alot but truth is this, it's nothing, even if you are saving and you are astute and a miser, 30k won't do much. Still doesn't stop anyone from going ahead. Just consider your options.

Someone said he considered his options and refused some job opportunities. I know it takes a lot of guts but he actually did what is best for him. If you are taking that step, ensure you are doing what is best for you your future and don't get stuck living a life you will hate. Good luck to everyone as we each pursue our separate dreams

Apparently you must be a justice keeper as pointed out. Where does it profit anybody if jungle justice is the order of the day. Whether the murdered individual is 7 years old or 20 or 30, he was murdered in cold blood. Burnt and you justify the actions of murderers. This is why the country is like this. Ordinarily you could have read the article and seen that the action of jungle justice is what is being condemned and nothing more

And at the end of the day, rather thanaddress the issue at hand "apparent ineptness" of the commander in chief, certain elements have started the blame game. The name calling, the chest beating, referring to history and failing to learn from history.
As an igbo, are you going to tell me you know it all? Are you going to tell me there are not rampant cases of betrayal and worse within ur ranks? Are you going to claim righteousness in all your dealings? Are you going to claim not being a part of the problem of the country? So why are you being vindictive?

As a Yoruba, are you going to continually act as if you are blind to the actual happenings within the country? Are you not going to repent and call a spade a spade? When will you drop the toga of sophistication and learn that fostering peace and unity within your tribes and other ethnic groups is the way out? Are you going to claim righteousness in all your dealing? Are you going to claim not being a part of the problem of the country?

If you like insult me, call me names. I will tell each and everyone of you this, you are the problem of this country. Especially if you are young, educated. If you are old and you indulge in this pettiness, no hope again for you and your generations yet unborn. Because you have decided to chase frivolity around. The dumb old bat who granted this interview and said all this is a part of the problem, and instead of us pointing that out and looking for ways to ensure we rid this country of people who dragged this country down like him, we are trading words and insulting each other. Whether Yoruba or igbo or Hausa or you fell from the Sky, as long as you are in this country tonight, tomorrow or whenever, use your brain.

FBI and DSS are now equivalent ba? Tell me something I don't know FBI and DSS? Are you kidding me? For real? So sad

The judges are corrupt I hear them say. Whose duty is it constitutionally to arrest them? Police or DSS?

At the end of the day, I won't be surprised if these judges are released.

I know some people will support illegality simply because they feel that that's the best way to handle said "corruption" and corrupt people in the country, but then are we a country of animals without laws? Are we a civilized race? Do we not have laws to guide us? Do we think acting irrationally will get us to where developed countries are?

Mumus plenty this country I swear. So please tell me where in the constitution it is forbidden to name your pet any name you wish. Some here are claiming it's insulting but to who? If I name my dog your father's name and you choose to take offence, your problem not mine, if you cause wahala with me, trust me I will sue you and wreck you. All comments have been enlightening, though some have displayed tribalism, nepotism and a host of undesirable things that says much about us as a nation.
Fashola gave his best yes, but couldn't give satisfactory answers where necessary. Accusations of misappropriation of public funds against him, he deflected by stating he has replied to it before, not that he is claiming he is innocent. Is he thus any different from Dasuki? Let's call a spade a spade, not try to take sides against certain people in power who only seek to enrich themselves.
We the masses keep getting worse off. And we keep hearing blames on a past government from individuals who were in positions of power and could have done a lot more to improve the lot of their states.

Only point I cheered Fashola was when he talked about England being complicit in corruption, aside that, he was merely defending his principal for a job badly done.
EducationRe: Oloyede's Appointment Is The Best Appointment Buhari Has Done by delvinmaya(m): 6:26pm On Aug 02, 2016
A lot of uninformed opinions here and also a lot of bitterness towards a man just because of his religion. Quite sad. Before you accuse me of being a Muslim or what not, look deep within and ask if your actions portray a trur Christian. Now to Oloyede, this man single-handedly changed University of Ilorin.
There is no gainsaying the milestones this man was able to achieve within his short tenure in the school.
Let's talk admission. Yes a lot of students admitted bear Muslim names but I still gained admission on merit despite having a Yoruba name and filling my religion as Christian. I however understood the fact that catchment area has a lot to do with the list of admitted students and the usual long leg.
Staff- my department had only two Muslim lecturers, others were Christians, and after a particular performance by my department, Oloyede offered a "twins" employment for "their tenacity and steadfastness". The "twins" still work in the University and are Christians.
Innovation- under Oloyede, University of Ilorin became a trailblazer, with the school growing in terms of infrastructure and intellect. Hardworking was rewarded especially on the students part and the best part for some who couldn't afford the tuition was the work study program Oloyede introduced. Oloyede still lectured despite being VC and was always on tour especially during Muslim and Christian breaks giving out gifts to students who were unable to go home. I could go on and on about his achievements but let's not forget he is human.
His faults-absolutely despises unproductive staffs. Allowed certain individuals tasked with responsibilities to go over board when they carry out their duties. Etc

I will only say this, his foresight is what I admire him for. He endured he left a structure and infrastructure in University of Ilorin.

P.S I never really liked him but I admired his guts to achieve all he did in the school albeit at a cost to the students? Or the staff? U decide

PoliticsDestroyers Within- An Open Letter To Gov Ambode by delvinmaya(op): 10:34am On Jul 16, 2016
Yorubas have a proverb that goes thus “the pest that eats and destroys the vegetables resides within the vegetable itself”. This saying never rang more true for me than today. Was at the barber’s shop and fell into conversation with some fellas. We discussed everything Nigeria and we got talking about the electricity issue. And these fellas had a thing or two to say…….

As I left for home, I felt betrayed once again by the institution of governance in Nigeria and especially in Lagos. The revelation from these fellas shocked me to the marrow and am surprised because happenings in Nigeria have ceased to shock me. And I felt duty bound to bring this to the attention of Nigerians, Lagosians and the governor himself whose commitment to good governance might be undermined by certain elements within and without his circle.

The revelation was about a clean energy company funded by the World Bank who want to set up a power plant in Nigeria. This company intends to use waste to generate power which will be sold at a very cheap rate to Discos who in turn can sell at a cheap rate to consumers. The waste will be purchased from the waste management agency and through a litany of processes produce power, water, and blocks, which will be sold for a very cheap price. Now this is a welcome development, however right from the onset certain elements in the public sector decided to stifle this laudable project. They “hid” the proposal probably expecting a bribe. Fortunately, the brains behind this project secured a meet with a commissioner and presented their proposal to him, twice. I hear the commissioner lauded the project and promised to take it up with the governor and promised that by May 2016, the company and the government should have reached an agreement. After the meet, an “aide’ demanded to know what benefit would accrue as benefits to “them”. The company declined such “benefit” and as such have been cast out, a persona non grata to the offices.

kettykin:
What I am saying in a nutshell is that Nigeria military should not leave the elephant and start fighting the grass.
We both are saying the same thing albeit in our different ways. Am insisting that individuals on here goading on the militants fail to see beyond their nose and rely on tales of "gods" etal to say the army is "impotent" and can't face the militants. Is this true? Once the chips start falling, it isn't just the militants that will count their cost, the innocent will always have their share.
PoliticsRe: Army Ready To Tackle Niger-Delta Militants by delvinmaya(m): 3:19pm On Jun 12, 2016
kettykin:
No body is saying military should not invade the creeks all people are asking is spare the innocent people and engage with the militants, the nigerian military has a record of leaving the enemy and wasting their bullets on the innocent, they did it in asaba, in odi, in zaki biam, they are doing it to unarmed ipob protesters who don't carry any weapon, they are planning to use on Niger deltans. The idea murdering the innocent is barbaric and only a useless unprofessional military would use that

Any person who supports the killing of the innocent will die by the same means.
And here comes one of the kids. Comprehension would have indicated to you that I don't support the military exerting force. However you and your ilks have all been about the militants ability to stay under water and how the Armed Forces can't do squat to them. Being delusional is one thing, being pragmatic is another. Ability to comprehend is also another thing. Next time comprehend before you mention me.

As to their record of "killing the innocent" , we all agree it's wrong, however tempting fate is plain stupidity, especially when the dead end up not getting justice. So is it right to goad the militants fueling their ego and forgetting the grass that will eventually suffer?
PoliticsRe: Army Ready To Tackle Niger-Delta Militants by delvinmaya(m): 9:20am On Jun 12, 2016
Kids abound without an iota of intelligence. Arguing with facts. Imagine one saying some militants are fortified by the gods of their forefathers. I mean come on. Another is insulting the yorubas.

Kai, this is why we are where we are! Hate for ourselves and half of us being dumb. So if a. 50cal hits you, or a 150kg bomb drops on your head, ur forefathers gods will protect you? Please enlighten me biko. And gadgets like radar, drones will be useless in the creeks? Kai, which school did you attend? Waste of time and resources. Absolute waste.

I won't deign to tell you how the Armed Forces will work, but once collateral damage is factored in, you just might understand the restraints the Armed Forces are facing. Odi remains a perfect sample.

Understand that my above argument doesn't make it right. However I can't shy from the truth and we have to realize that confrontation should be the last resort. Nobody will be better off once confrontation starts, especially the people living in the affected region.

For those with warped thinking, I pity you, just don't transmit your dumbness to your generation because it would be a fatal mistake

Alot of people here aremerely giving us hearsay, ehn my father said this, my uncle said that. They ignore the truth and focus and chest beating.
When I read Alexander Madiebo's account, I understood a bit about the war, and reading accounts from Ben Gbulie and Ademoyega, I was able to conclude that Biafra had neither the weapons or ammunition to sustain a war. Their ingenuity kept them going far but their suspicions got the better of them. Everyone with a contrary opinion to Ojukwu was promptly tagged a saboteur and finished off. So coming here to blame Banjo is simply dumb.
Truth is Banjo was able to get them to Ore by tact, which few igbo officers could have achieved. So please before you talk, be sure.
