Brabus, keep up the good work. It cannot always be negative for you. You have it. With little fine-tuning it will show.

Interior decorations is an area worth considering or like I adviced you before, partner with a good structural engineer and complement them with your IT skills and innovation. You will become a finished product.

To fix QC-1 house is going to cost money. A lot of it. Brabus does not have that kind of money. I don't know if QC-1 does.

The question now is, even if QC-1 does have the kind of money we are talking about, will he be comfortable to give it to Brabus to apply the fix?

For those asking Brabus to go back and fix the issue, who will pay for the fix?

I keep asking myself, while would I want to build this kind of mansion in that kind of environment? Why?

I will rather build a Batcher in an affluent area than build a mansion in a poor area with all the monkeys and insects. I know QC-1 is comfortable, so please I will advise you to stop pouring more more into that house.

I know it is your dream home but sometimes we have to count our losses. Start saving your money for your next build preferably on a solid ground.

@EgunMogaji, congrats on your born again sharp sand. If I say you be magicician I wouldn't be farther from the truth if not how a chicken coop of yesterday take become a church today if no be magic grin

Agreed. But it shouldn't be that you should use the little fingers to buy heartache and worries while playing the obedient little brother.

How do you explain frying tiles?

That's what that little finger can buy or that's what the little finger deserves.
My brother, that your story of frying tiles na exceptional case o. I have not heard of such before. You sure say no be plastic tiles?

Ceramic na ceramic nau. Which chemical reaction will make ceramic turn to paper? Over to you certificated ones grin

All in all, Orile tile sellers are providing a good/cheap service. I have bought tiles from them before. I am still enjoying the tiles. My pocket no hear am cheesy

I like your house, it is simple and well finished. I have seen a lot of houses finished with all these premium products that look tacky. No be how much na how well.

Personally, I don't like wasting money in the midst of abject poverty like we have in Nigeria.

Ile baba mi ópo ibugbé lo wa, ile baba mi lo kè.

In my father's house there are many mansion there......

Vanity upon vanity all is vanity.

Spanish tiles, Italian tiles, america tiles. I beg my people let us live a simple life. Nothing wrong with orile tiles. Not every Nigerian can afford all these 20k per metre tiles.

The reason for the African or Nigerian standard is because all thanks to bad leadership, Nigerians are poor and majority will not be able to afford the premium items.

Even for abroad fake products full everywhere. Every society get class by class. Buy wetin you fit afford.

Everybody no go wear Gucci.

PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Demainman1:
@Fastshipping, sorry to put mouth for your tiles matter o. I will like to suggest that you buy what you need from over there as it seems money is not the problem.

You will be amazed that those tiles you posted there are also trashy Chinese tiles packaged and sold to the gullible diasporas as Spanish and Italians tiles.

$1800 savings is not worth absolute peace of mind my brother. Once those tiles don enter floor, e dey hard to remove dem o o.

Another thing, I will not use white or cream tile for high traffic areas. Naija no be Yankee, dirty road everywhere.

I just feel it's unfair to only come here to scout for business and not to provide info that can help others.

Anyway, that's why we're different in the first place.

agarawu23:
do you need to impress anyone? The answer is NO. Its better u sit down and make plans how you want your house to look and not suggestion from ppl back home. You might visit home and find the house in a state you don't like.

I bought an uncompleted roofed 4bedroom flat but I abandoned it and decide to build my taste by myself in a good location close to my people.

You are the only person who can build your dream. Nigerian's and the everyday building/design shouldn't fit someone who is exposed.
@agarawu23, the pressure from family member to get you to build house that is "reigning" is real mehn. Except you are building like Egunmogaji. Save small, come home, build small and go back . You might even instruct them on your taste and they will give you their taste sef grin

You can ask them to use 12ft kingpost, and they will collude with roofer and make it 80ft sef kiss

When you finally see your house in real time what are you going to do? Re-roof? Wey the money? grin

@ demainman1, my low guage 0.35mm roof never leak o after 5 years. No maintenance! And it's beautiful and perfectly served its intended purpose.

I'm not the type who get wow with overly designed builds. Sorry that's just me!

If anybody says he used low guage roofing, I'll tell the person "It served its intended purpose"

Brabus
@Brabus, I know you as a man of taste. I have told you this before. It surprises me how people always complain about you and your work.

I am of the opinion that all you have to do is find that missing puzzle and your business jigsaw life will never remain the same. It will be up up up up for you.

See, if you have to partner with a good structural engineer, do so and you are good to go.

In the meantime, please, keep posting all the good stuffs. If my manna fall, you will know sir.

@FastShipping....it doesn't deny the fact that it is simply and contemporary. We all see over design of P.O.P atimes in Nigeria to the extent that some people think, if the design is not complicated it won't be properly appreciated.

@EgunMogaji......that's what I am talking about. Simple and Classy not designs like star or moon etc.

THESE ARE EASIER TO MAINTAIN IN MY OWN PERSPECTIVE.
From my own experience, most of these outlandish designs you see in Naija are actually suggested by family members of the diasporas. The brother of my friend once told him not to bother roofing his house if he will not add parapet grin

As we speak now family members are already telling me the type of roof they will like on my house cheesy according to them it is the one "reigning" grin

They know even know whether I even like the one "reigning" or I just what my preference. This na for house that is still at foundation o grin

Such pressure can make a man to become a conformist and before you know it your finish house will include 59 ft kingpost, bogus pop, parapet, roman pillar and every other attachments you initially hated with a passion cheesy

@Lastpage, thank you for that wonderful write up on the need for good education. Some people are just too myopic to see the truth.

Some even refuse to take corrections and claim to know it all and yet they will come here to ask basic questions that even primary one pupil can give them answer to.

They are here displaying their stupidity and foolishness while claiming to be widely travelled and all that nonsense.

Empty barrels I tell you. Real empty barrels.
