PoliticsRe: Development In The Niger Delta Region By NDDC by Demdem(m): 6:12pm On Sep 20, 2013
atlwireles: It will be quite unfair and factually untrue to say the region has not seen massive development in the last 10yrs. Remember the 13% derivation did not come into full force till 2003, the NDDC and Nigerdelta ministry stared receiving cash backed allocation in 2008. The Nigerdelta of 1999 and the Nigerdelta of 2013 is without and doubt not the same place. Those advocating for 50% minimum revenue is on the solid grounds of resource control. There's something call fiscal federalism and some of us want to see this principle applied in this country. I hope the day will come when states in Nigeria keep 87% of their vat taxes, Petroleum taxes, minerals royalties, payee taxes etc and remit 13% to Abuja. It should never be the other way round. Then people will have a reason to hold their local representative accountable, than this hybrid rubbish we have now.

There is no region in Nigeria that is the same like it was ten years ago. It's fair to say that all at least move a step ahead. The issue here is has the Niger delta trully gotten true value for their money? No region has but what makes ND interesting its that its currently well funded than the rest as at today.
I have no problem with resource control but I fear that this same rot will persist if granted. Now that "few" monies are given to ur leaders, u are having difficulties questioning them, is it when u make them Gods with more resource control that u will find ur voice.
SW is doing far more in Nigeria today in questioning their leaders and that explains why their leaders are much more accountable than their peers. ND peeps needs to wake up and question the likes of Udaughan.
For example, am here in PH and my local govt is obia Akpor. I think after lagos island LGA, obia Akpor is the next funded lga in Nigeria and yet I can pin point just one single impactable project from them. Believe u me, leadership problem is the bane here and not resources.

PoliticsRe: Development In The Niger Delta Region By NDDC by Demdem(m): 4:23pm On Sep 20, 2013
Throwing monies to problems every now and then does not necessary mean the problem will be solved.
So far, the ND region receives the most money than any other region currently.
Starting from states allocation to 13% derivation to huge interventions from NDDC, ministry of Niger delta and even oil companies interventions. Of cos not to forget the billions on amnesty and even undocumented monies.
The question is with all these interventions which is far more than any region currently what has the people got to showcase? Are they better of? Can we justify the amount spent on ND so far.
Let ND justify what has been given so far and see me in the fore front of those advocating for nothing less than 50%.
Money isn't the problem in ND, already there is abundance, the problem is their leaders.
Focus more on ur leaders who are by far ur greatest enemies than a distant FG.
The FG has been extremely fair to ND since 1999. That's a fact but has the people been fair to themselves? That should be the main question here.

rozayx5: Demdem and agbameta always relish these kind of threads, but on threads where the Government does well they are found wanting, instead of them to offer solutions they are busy running around shouting retardeeen . Shows the opposition followers are the same with their leaders embarassed
Goat, its this not a good thread to showcase NDDC acheivement? Or are u technically accepting that indeed NDDC is a failure?
Ur post really sound daft to be honest.

Charles, Phc:
In an area where there's no airport, helicopter will fly over 500 times within 9 days? In a thick forest fast food and boli will be coming everyday? After walking for several km, a place where one can take okada? @Demdem, am aware there are oil companies in the Ogoni area of Rivers but am not aware they fly their helicopter over 500 times in a week and if they do then we are close to knowing the kidnappers' den. Until we know that, the helicopter could have either been that of the Police search and rescue team or that of the kidnappers themselves going on errands.

The number of times they fly depend on their operations which may vary. By the way, has the police claimed it was theirs? The truth is Mbu and his men has nothing to do with his release. The best person to know this is the bishop himself, and he has spoken out.

Charles, Phc:
All Glory must go to God for His Mercies and the rescue of the Bishop. The NPF should be commended for their effort cos if they flew their helicopter for that number of times around the area where the Bishop was kept, it showed they were closing in on the kidnappers and the kidnappers knew they would have no more hidding place no matter how smart they were. It's now the turn of the Bishop to secretly assist the Police in tracing the location where he was kept so the kidnappers can be apprehended.
How do u know its NPF helicopters? Did the Bishop categorically states that those helicopters are for NPF? Are u aware that multinational oil companies within the Niger Delta also use helicopters for logistical reasons?
Dont be deceived, Mbu did nothing. Already, The Bishop has asked the police to release those arrested that the police claim are connected with the kidnap. The Bishop claimed those arrested know nothing about his kidnap. He knows his kidnappers.

abagoro: I wonder how most of you came about certain things you spew out here. How did Odili betray his region? Odili's plight was as a result of his ethnicity. He's an Igbo from South-south and hence was resisted from taking the turn of South-south when they were considered by OBJ for Presidency. Odili was disliked in Rivers because of his political tactics of using youths and in that process creating militancy. It is the same with Patience and Bipi's style.

Odili didn't eventually have OBJs support for presidency not because of the reason u gave but because of Ribadus efcc report which incriminated him. Yaradua himself confirmed this to segun adeniyi who reported this in his latest book.
PoliticsRe: Development In The Niger Delta Region By NDDC by Demdem(m): 11:20am On Sep 20, 2013
I will comment on what I know with all sense of responsibility.
After the NNPC, the next most corrupt govt agency is the NDDC. Most NDDC contracts executed are sub-standard especially the roads. Here in PH, most NDDC roads hardly last one year. This is expected considering the fact that their contracts most times given away to the highest bidders. Officials sells off these contracts and buyers in turn rewards these officials therby giving room for shody jobs. It's even disheartening that this is done in the open for all to see.
That NDDC contracts are for sale isn't in doubt. Even right here on NL, we see NDDC contracts for sale. A particular moniker called pcnwandi is notoriously known to be involved and urs truly has several times confronted him on this but that to him isn't out of place. That is simply the way they operate.
Kindly Google NDDC contracts for sale on nairaland to substantiate my claims.

amaech=blacksheep.

Ur post made no sense considering my post which u qouted. My argument isn't to rubbish Soludos so called acheivenent but to present a very sad path which he took. Even at that, I still love Soludo despite his lies as regards those banks because good things still came from him.
Ur bigotry will not allow u see the big picture. Having seen saraki and Muazu(who currently) is retardeens friend u decided to talk rubbish. It's idiotic to think I will idolised these killer members.

Again I state, Soludo lied about the health status of our banks and am very sure the frog eyed finance minister is being untruthful with the health of our economy.

Kalu is even too far. Tinubu nko? Soyinka, Gani, bakare, falana, osoba etc the list continues.
The greatest critics of Obasanjo during his tenure are men from his state. When he ffucks up they speak out and tell it to his face. Not the foolish mentality of he's our man, spare him.

That frog eye liar of a woman is threading a familiar path. Soludo path. Soludo for years told us the banks were healthy. Muazu and saraki confronted Soludo on this being bankers themselves during economic meetings but they had no evidence to present probably because Soludo colluded with rogue bankers to suppress it. It wasn't until he was booted out before we knew the rots in our banks.
Her subsidy lies are still fresh in our memories.
