If Atiku chooses a viable and acceptable VP, millions of secularly oriented Nigerians would vote for him ahead of a fundamentalist Buhari. Nigeria is already a failed state so there is little to lose if Nigerians vote Atiku but the ball is in his court as to his choice of VP.
