Your word should contain the first and the last letters of the previous word posted.

So Seun should have used G (1st) and H (last) from the word "gibberish" that I posted in a new word of his.

The rules are pretty simple..

Nigeria's refineries do not work because they are deliberately sabotaged so govt can award oil block & oil lifting licences.

Seun I think its the stockholders' (investors) hands at work. They are trying to cash in. Two birds for price of one.
ComputersRe: The VSAT Internet Business is Doomed? by demmy(m): 6:08pm On Jun 02, 2005
Delarontus, I'm guessing that is just the cost of subscription not including deployment cost. Also what about the ISPs are they rolling out the service anytime soon? The competition might help lower the price slightly.

ComputersRe: The VSAT Internet Business is Doomed? by demmy(m): 5:50pm On Jun 02, 2005
Expect the cost to be high in the begining, it will cost a lot for Nitel & Globacom to put all the infrastructures in place for broadband which means for now VSAT operators shouldn't worry too much. Nitel & Globacom still have to wire the whole country with copper wires. And it will also cost consumers too because it means new DSL modems, splitters, filters et al. So in the mean time VSAT still have a some shelf life.

@ Hidden_Hunter
I'm guessing that Nitel had opted for ADSL with its NITEL IP Wholesale, that does not exclude wi fi (WiMAX) of course but that will be for various ISPs to decide but definitely cable access is out of the question.

Nairaland GeneralRe: How Can We Make the Nairaland Forum Better? by demmy(m): 5:12pm On Jun 01, 2005
I agree with Jogego. Members can be use to make forum better. For starter Seun can deligate some of the moderating work to some senior members. And I'm sure other ways can be found for others to make input.

seun:
Congratulations!

Nairaland, the Nigerian Forum, is going commercial! grin

Why? Because if we are to become the best discussion forum in Africa, we need money to pay the administrator and hire programmers, graphic artists, reporters and writers to add features to the site.
@Seun when you said going commercial are talking about building a portal or will the site simply remain a forum as it is?
PoliticsRetired General Victor Malu's Interview by demmy(op): 7:30am On May 31, 2005
Malu's Interview

I agree with almost what he said in this interview.

Allowing the Americans to influence Nigeria politics is a big mistakes of Obasanjo's government. Obasanjo being a former military man should know. Now they are telling him to his face that his country will break up in 15 years. This is really telling about the internal and external security of that country.

For all the despicable acts of the past military governments, they took the security of the country seriously. This of course do not justify their usurping illegality but it should be instructive to these politicians who are mostly greedy enough to sell their mothers for paltry sums.

ComputersRe: Skype, "free Internet telephony that just works". by demmy(m): 6:04pm On May 26, 2005
delarontus:
The reason they frown at it is because the technology though legal is used for illegal purposes to dump traffic and carry international traffic which is outside the scope of their licences at ridiculous prices. ISPs for instance have no right to carry voice traffic but they do. Fixed line operators are also not allowed to terminate international traffic into the country but all these illegal businesses are conducted through VOIP.

Fixed line operators worldwide suffer the same fate as it affects their volume of international traffic.

The question is why can't they join so as force these 'so called illegals' out of the market?
You are obviously for big corporations since you deem Voip operators' illegals'.

Anyway the voice ISP carry is over Internet Protocol which I believe is within their legal domain to do. Its like sending picture or any other data for that matter.

What you should have advised why aren't they in the business?

I recently read an article in Business week predicting the end of big telcos becos they can't/wouldn't adjust to new tech.
