Then if the technology is not illegal Nitel have no right telling operators what they can do with their interconnection on Nitel's gateway. I think its absurd Nitel on one hand 'frowning' on Voip but at the same time can't increase its phone lines beyond the paltry 500,000+ lines it currently stand. |
And I too noticed that (at the time of typing this reply) there are 705 registered members and majority of them are inactive or with one post. Why ? |
The point is clean environment. We can't eradicate mosquitoes paticularly in tropical region like ours but clean environment could breed new form of mosquitoes less dangerous to health. |
Experts, to quote Colin Powell often "possess more data than judgement." I am definitely not alarmed by such report. They are drafted by people who have little to no knowledge of the real situation in Nigeria. Last year when Dokubo was making some fuzz the international media reported him as if he was some important rebel warlord controlling some break away region. Some even reported it as civil war and blamed it for the increase in fuel price. I laughed. But I agree with Obasanjo's letter to the Senate, it is instructive to know what others are projecting for us so we can prevent it. Biafra is a touchy issue but I believe most Igbo elites have distanced themselves from such venture. |
Why can't NCC simply legalise VoIP? several African countries have done so. |
Seun there are lots of peripheral of telcom industry where ordinary Nigerians with little ingenuity can make money. For instance, in Europe and America ringtones and logos sector of the mobile industry is several million dollar worth by itself. But we tend to wait until some south african will come to show us the way. Why are ordinary Nigerians contented with selling recharge cards only? Why not lease some dedicated imbound number for sms messages from the telcoms and then you can provide services like instant news, competition, ringtones & logos etc with a reverse billing method. Even you can help people carry out technical setting for their mobile (e.g setting up Wap) by letting them send an SMS to a dedicated number and you can have the settings send back to them. At any rate for investment to hit $8billion it means the investors are expecting to make back their money. They are not throwing it down the drain. And definitly it affect everybody as it means more employment from building more infrastructure to staffing call centers etc. |
One Lagos tech company Lancor Technologies recently unvailed a nigerian multilingual keyboard with the naira sign (₦) but I'm not sure whether it gone commercial. http://allafrica.com/stories/200504280216.html |
The smartphone option is good but not satisfactory on the account of their limited storage capability and fragility. I have a huge collection of mp3 files so a 40gb player is more like it. Beside I'm a sucker for technology. Ipod is still really expensive over here in Greece. A 30gb Ipod cost as much as a 40gb Zen and that zen is not as heavy as it look. |
I know they are multiple choice questions, but what are the examples of questions asked in this Nigerian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? |
Nigeria telecom industry is buzzing with cash at the moment. Loads of money to be made. ![]() |
Seun that can only happen if our businessmen are as dumb as you're implying. Branson's entry into Nigerian market can actually invigorate it. |
MP3 Players Do you have any? And have they caught on in Nigeria? I am planning to buy a 40Gb Creative Zen at a bargain, 230 euros for my mp3 collection. Nice. I can't wait. I think Zinox Technologies could be making the players or assembling them. Apple's IPod is not made by Apple either. They just assembled 3rd party components and splashed their name on the end product and ran all the way to the banks after. blackweaver:Yes that is one of the many usages of bluetooth technology, as walkie-talkie but don't expect telcoms to provide that one. Individuals will have to experiment on their own. Some hobbyists have already to tried to increase the range of their bluetooth. |
Just like in music I am bias to African American movies. And I do like to support them really. Anyway still waiting to watch The Diary but I recently watched Will Smith's HITCH. It was entertaining. I've also watch Ray, and Washington's Manchurian Candidate. All recently. Ice Cube's XXX2 should be next. |
.......telling me that I can't make a call across Time Pertubation. Saying the person I'm trying to reach is in a different time dimension and and I'm not sufficiently permitted to be connected. "What nonsense are you talking?" I demanded "The virus," he explained "had slightly pertubed time and occasionally reality gets confused with dream." "So?" "So you're trying to make a call to a woman in your dream" "She doesn't exist?" "No she does. But in your dream and I can't connect you." I turned the handset off confused. The others looked at me like 'see we told you we couldn't reach her'................. |
Seun you're assuming that the library will actually get built and function properly. But still he should have waited till when he is out of office. American presidents he is trying to immitate don't build library or source funds for it until they are out of office. I will not be surprise if future presidents use this Obasanjo example as precedent to graft and to quote Soyinka "extortion." |
To my surprise her coworkers told me she hadn't been to work in over two weeks and couldn't track her down. "But I have been speaking to her all week and she said she was tie up with office work." "You talked to her on her mobile?" a coleague of her asked. "Yes! All week we've being speaking" I affirmed. "But we've been calling that same mobile and its been off." "What!" I brought out my phone and dialed her number and surprisingly the phone started ringing............ |

Things Fall Apart has been variously proclaimed as the best African novel of all time and I'll agree but he is not as prolific and consistent as Soyinka who in term of output is the best by far. |
Donpet all you have to do is go to view menu on your browser and click on source. This will bring out the HTML source code for your site in a Notepad. Then you simply cut and paste the code Seun gave above into the body of the html file then save the document as html file I.e with html extention e.g index.html and then re upload the file back to your site. |
.....to this fancy restaurant near the Muson Centre. All the while I was confused. What is going on here. I was not waiting for her or was I? She called for the waitress and guess who came to take our order........ |
Seun is right. Nigerian Universities offer courses in Music. UI have one I'm sure. Even I had music lessons in Secondary school class1&2 though not my favorite subject. I found it boring. |
......fuel meter was at level zero. I was out of gas! But since I did not drive the car yesterday all day then it must have been............. |
Virgin set to take over Vmobile 2005-05-20 09:03:03 By: Bill Okonedo http://www.businessdayonline.com/index.php?fArticleId=7299 The duel between Virgin Mobile of the Uk and Vodacom of South Africa for controlling equity stakes in Nigeria's GSM network, Vmobile, seems tilted in favour of the former, BUSINESSDAY checks have indicated. Also, we gathered, Vmobile will announce its new equity partner anytime from now, but at the latest, following a board meeting next week. http://www.businessdayonline.com/index.php?fArticleId=7299 |
Don't be surprised people. Most of our leaders are illiterate, ignorant bunch. I personally know a former Ministry of Commerce senior official who didn't know what inflation is! |
I think we have ourselves a TEXT GENERATOR!!!! ![]() |

Of course its possible to stop it. Or at least bring those involve to book. If the price for an exam paper can be known then it is also possible to know who are paying it and who are collecting it. The problem with us is that it is those that were suppose to bring offenders to book that are usually the offenders. |
I have never play on any of them popular game console but I do a lot on my PC so why should I get a console (Playstation, Gamecube, Xbox) when I can do the same thing on PC? Anyone? |
Depression is when people are hungry and Obasanjo is thinking about building a Presidential Library at an astronomical cost of 7 billion Naira. Its depressing to read. |
There is Microsoft Nigeria but I don't know whether they handle anything else other than software piracy. |
I don't think MTN qualify. There is a conflict of interest there. What will happen to MTEL which is own by NITEL if MTN acquire NITEL? |
