The African Union's panel on Libya Sunday called for an "immediate stop" to all attacks after the United States,
France and Britain launched military action against Moamer Kadhafi's forces.

It underscored the need for "necessary political reforms to eliminate the causes of the present crisis" but at the same time called for "restraint" from the international community to avoid "serious humanitarian consequences."
The panel also announced a meeting in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on March 25, along with representatives from the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Conference, the European Union and the United Nations to "put in place a mechanism for consultation and concerted action" to resolve the Libyan crisis.
The AU committee on Libya is composed of five African heads of state. But the Nouakchott meeting was only attended by the presidents of Mauritania, Mali and Congo. South Africa and Uganda were represented by ministers.

The declaration said its authors felt inspired by Kadhafi's "vision for a strong and united Africa."
"The AU as an organisation has benefited significantly from Kadhafi's wealth," said Fred Golooba Mutebi of the Institute of Social Research at Kampala's Makerere University.

It is an indication of democracy working, lagos state is a bad example for you to use cos it is the best performing state in the federation today.
I just visited a patient in a hospital in Ikeja and what I found there was amazing, incredible, i thought I was not in Nigeria.
Modern equipment that I saw there, the quality of the infrastructure was world class, and I congratulated fashola when I saw him.
Issue of Industrial action is something you cannot avoid when you are in government. the ability to address it and come out with a solution
is what matters, i believe they are going to solve their own problems,

We are going to setup  6 specialize hospital across the country. Reason: Any little thing that has to do with kidney, heart, cancer you have to go outside the country.

@Caringchi, just go through peaceland's posts slowly and carefully think about it. In the days following Yar ardua's flight to saudi, I and most of my friends were so figth to make GEJ Acting president and later president because then it was the right thing to do. The support was not because of his name (Goodluck) or his religion or his tribe. We would have fought for him even if he was a goat or a cow because it was the right thing for the vice president to suceed the president. Today we are faced with a situation where the right man seems to have surrounded himself with the worst set of people and has turned blind eye to so many evil things in order not to rock the boat and to cling onto power. Gej is a good man but he seems to be poor at leadership. Once again, we have to rise up and do the right thing. And the right thing is to show PDP the way out. you can't do the same thing for 12 years and expect a different result. Let the right man with the right vision and the right crowd salvage this nation. The change we desire has nothing to do with tribe or religion because we are all victims of the same PDP. Those who destroyed this country come from all over, they are Yorubas, Ibos, Hausas, Fulanis, Idomas, Efiks, Ibibios, Kanuris, Ijaws, Nupes, Egbas, etc, they are christians, muslims, traditionalists and atheists. So its not a question of tribe or religion. They started this destruction before the umbrella party came and they have continued up till date. However, they seem to be concentrated in PDP today. Caringchi, if indeed you want a change, please consider all the options and God will guide you to make the right choice.

A lot of people can't see the good a CPC win will have on Nigeria.
1. When PDP will find themselves on the opposition end come May 2011, it will help them sit down and put their house in order
and try to win the confidence of Nigerians back.
2. Mass exodus of PDP corrupt politicians to CPC.

4. PDP will see the power a united people have.

my worry is that they may have given my relatives back in the village some measures of rice to ensure they cast their vote for them. that is what pains me that common sence which dictates that the pdp train has nothing but avarice and wickedness to offer may very well through hook or crook means win. but i shall, to clear my consience vote away from the pdp. i rest my case.

I made some calls last week to some of my relatives and friend in the East and have convinced them that PDP has nothing to offer Nigerians, they are now in the BB train.

First of all let me say. Nuclear Power is under appreciate­d and under employed as a means to power.
That it comes with incumbent logistical problems is without question. Primarily, as I see it, the containmen­t, the control of Nuclear Waste.
These plants, in Japan were built in the 70's.
Fail Safe systems cannot be too plentiful. And they should extend far beyond the foot print of the facility itself.
Fail Safe should be as the phrase implies. To contain ALL fail safe systems on the site of the Facility,
Flies in the face of Logic. When the Core cannot be cooled then what you have is a summation of every Nuclear "Accident" that has ever been.
It would seem, this can be addressed with the will to do so. The positives of Nuclear Energy have succumbed to the Fear of their Failure.

Whoever started this thread is really D-U-M-B.
Certain components and sometimes the air planes themselves were
redesigned after plane crashes.
The advanced and developing countries use this kind of events to learn,
redesign and come up with a better solution so that next time it won't happen again.

But the average african mind sees things differently when this kind of event happens and can't think outside the box.

Russia has had one nuclear plant melt down in the past - it wasn't caused by an earthquake but by human error.
The entire facility was buried and sealed up, they learnt from that experience and ensured that that kind of event can never
repeat itself.

As we speak Japanese scientist are currently looking into this whole event and will surely fortify other nuclear plants to
ensure that in the future they will be ready.
