please check this website for pros and cons of CVT http://www.buzzle.com/articles/cvt-transmission-pros-and-cons.html dont rely on your local mechanic's judgement. meet trained technicians. |
The average cars on Nigerian roads currently have on board computers that are more powerful than some laptops in computer village. You might not know this but the onboard computer (ECU) is a rugged and important part of the modern vehicle. it is called 'brainbox' by our 'rewires'. Most of the entire car's function is controlled by the 'brainbox' in our cars. it monitors, measures, interprets and reacts to data coming from scores of sensors all round the car in real-time. Once there is an error reading from a particular sensor, it analyses the information and lights up the MIL light when necessary. A large percentage of cars on Nigerian roads have the MIL (Malfunction indicator lamp) also known as check engine light on. This is caused by so many factors ranging from minor issues (like fuel door not properly closed!!!) to extensive engine and chassis damage. The unfortunate situation is that most people keep driving as long as the car keeps moving. What they don’t know is the car could have triggered into what is known as 'the limp mode'. The limp mode is a status whereby the car's computer senses a fault and disables most default protocols. Only emergency protocols become active. For example, a fault in the ABS (Anti lock Braking System and not Automatic Braking System!!!) would trigger a MIL for the ABS. The Brake will still work but no anti lock protection will be available. Same goes for the Airbag light-the car will still drive (as most cars on Nigerian roads) but no airbag protection will be available. Bigger problems are also indicated with the MIL lights. Early correction will save you from bigger expenses. Faulty oxygen sensors, MAF sensors, Crankshaft Position sensors, etc would either put the power train into limp mode or not allow the car to start at all. If you are reading this post, then it shows you are learned. Nobody gives a computer problem to a rewire. You need not give your MIL issues to a ‘rewire’ who relies on his gut feelings to detect faults. The cut wires, sometimes change complete ‘brainboxes’, put a car permanently in limp mode by cutting off sensors and bridging wires. If the car owner complains, most will simply remove the instrument cluster and cut of the annoying check engine bulb. Some creepy ones will connect it to the oil/battery lamp so you don’t notice. These aint the solutions!!!! Now, here is the solution. To detect your vehicle’s OBD (On Board Diagnostic) problem, we have come up with a service to detect analyze and correct all your vehicles’ problems. We have Vehicle Diagnostic equipment that will work on ALL…yes…ALL Vehicle types. We have compatible equipment for all vehicle protocols. In addition, we have a team of experienced vehicle technicians who can speak the language your vehicle understands. Our machines can: • Diagnose more than all Asian, American, European and Chinese cars makes and over 1,000 vehicle systems • Access powertrain, chassis and body systems • Diagnose the entire vehicle • Detect fault codes, data stream and service reset We also have workshop management tools for your specific car needs. We have a database of all yes all cars service requirement from 1990 to 2010 model years. We are starting on a big level. Our charges are however minimal. It is a passion to see MIL lamps off our dash. Questions, comments, reservations can be forwarded to hardey1@live.com COMING UP SOON |

cant wait for nairaland dealers to make it available, remember american specs, leather seats and airbags, airbags in the air, maybe we need sandbags, good innovation. critiques expected though, do you know the first car regulations required that a man ran in front of the car aving a red flag and announcing to pedestrians that a machine was coming ![]() The Locomotive Act 1865 (Red Flag Act) The Locomotive Act 1865 (Red Flag Act):[3] Set speed limits of 4 mph (6 km/h) in the country and 2 mph (3 km/h) in towns. Stipulated that self-propelled vehicles should be accompanied by a crew of three: the driver, a stoker and a man with a red flag walking 60 yards (55 m) ahead of each vehicle. The man with a red flag or lantern enforced a walking pace, and warned horse riders and horse drawn traffic of the approach of a self propelled machine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locomotive_Act |

denitro:my own opinion, if you are concerned about reducing fuel consumption by a drive off immediately after starting, what about engine life maximization most engine wear occurs when the engine is cold and the oil has not reached optimum temperature, one of the reasons why engines are required to warm up is because the engine oil is too thick at start up, 'a little melting' is therefore required. if you work your horse immediately after starting in the morning, chances are that the metals are just grinding thmselves off, dont kill your engine just my own opininon ![]() |
