Yesterday was a day of deft moves by the House of Representatives Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, who is engaged in what seems a battle of her political life.
After a six-week recess, the House reconvened yesterday but adjourned abruptly amidst a rowdy session.
The Speaker said the House would adjourn for a day to commiserate with the family of the late Senate President, Chief Evans Enwerem as the former Chairman of the National Assembly.
But the adjournment was to deflect spirited attacks against her over the controversial N529 million renovation contract which has been rocking the House for sometime now.
Informed sources however said Etteh called for an adjournment to test the waters and draw out the strength of those baying for her blood.
The Speaker may today accede to the request of those calling for a probe of the renovation contract having discovered that those against her are in the minority.
But the modality for setting up the committee remained contentious last night even among the pro-Etteh lawmakers.

The Action Congress (AC) has called for the sack of the Economic Mana-gement Team, including governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chuk-wumah Soludo, over what it called a “policy somersault” that has resulted in the re-denomination of the naira.
In the same manner, the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has said the new naira policy is like putting the cart before the horse, as what the government ought to do first is “put the economy in good shape as Ghana did”.
However, indications from the market yesterday showed that the naira has made marginal gains in both the official and parallel markets, although it was not clear if this was informed by the CBN pronouncement.
In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by AC’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said Soludo’s inconsistency, which will lead to the dumping of the new currencies recently printed at huge costs to taxpayer’s, would further deal the country’s tottering economy a big blow.
It also criticised the CBN boss for misleading the nation by tagging the planned change “redenomination”, when what the bank has actually done is “decimalisation”.
The party said the redenomination was not Soludo’s original idea, since “a team of independent economic experts presented it to the economic team of which he is a member over two years ago”.

One day a kid was sitting at home waiting for his relatives to come over. He overheard his parents fighting with each other yelling "YOU BITCH" "YOU BASTARD".

Being so young, the kid had never heard those words before and asked his parents what they meant. They replied by saying "Bitch means lady and bastard means gentlemen". Satisfied with this answer the boy went to his room.

Then he heard the neighbors having sex. They were repeating the words "DICK and "CUNT" over and over and over. Again, the boy was curious and asked his parents what those words meant. Thinking fast, his mother said "Dick means coat and cunt means jackets."

Once again the boy was satisfied with the answer and headed to the bathroom, but his father was shaving and the boy had to wait. Fearing that the boy might wet himself, the father shaved faster. The boy did his "business" and his dad went back to shaving. His next stop was the kitchen, there he saw his mother preparing the turkey. As she reached for a knife she ended up cutting herself. "AW Bleep!!", she yelled. "What's Bleep mean mommy", the boy asked. "It means stuffing the turkey."
