Tragedy struck in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, after a yet-to-be-identified woman beat her housemaid to death for watching TV with her kids.
The 10-year-old housemaid lost her life as a result of injuries she sustained as her boss beat her to a pulp.
The incident was said to have happened on Sunday evening.
A source said the suspect, a mother of four, had brutally tortured the girl when she came back home and saw the housemaid sitting with her children to watch TV.
It was the cry of the girl that attracted neighbors, who stopped the woman from further inflicting punishment on the housemaid.
The girl was said to have died before arriving at the hospital for treatment.
7lives: Lies. America saves dollar in gold, gold is the surebet, this is the reason behind Fort Knox. Those who saved in dollars do so to exploit the weak naira. Now that dollar is crashing in Nigeria, is gold also crashing in Nigerian market?. Speculators will learn a hard lesson from Cardoso. They don't mind killing the naira, let them also prepare 'cause the hangman is here.
You may disagree with me and have your beliefs or opinions but calling someone a liar simply because you disagree in a conversation that is meant to be civil is really sad.
cedricksly: this isn't competition, this is sabotage by the big money airlines... You just do not understand that's why. Okay let me ask u a question which business man reduces his price below any profit margin belt? Knowing very well they would have to use out of their money to to cover up looses because of how low they have reduce their prices to, not even break even pricing, they set a price that not just that they can't make money, they run at a loss for every flight, just to frustrate the new comer who would definitely want to make profit in the new route, no matter how small. When they kick him out of the market because he stops due to the fact that he can't compete in a healthy manner without running a loss, a loss he can't cover, when he is out of that route, they hike price back up, who do you think would suffer it? That's no competition bro, that's sabotage coz big airlines has always been a cabal, they frustrate every new commer out of the market coz they have enough money to play around... Why now? So they would have made profit setting price around what airpeace set? Why ha sit always been x3? And u think it is competitive reducing their price far below profit line? C'mon Think.
I understand your view point, the problem here is that the premise of your argument us not correct.
The airlines did not suddenly drop their prices below market prices!
Now please do a little research on the following timelines:
1. When and why did the foreign airlines block their 'low inventory fares in nigeria? - remember last year you could buy cheap tickets in Lome, cotonou, and younde, but not in nigeria?
2. When did the Airpeace announce flights to the UK and the start date?
3. Now AT WHAT DATE DID OUR OWN GOVERNMENT CHOSE TO PAY BACK THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OWED FOREIGN AIRLINES? AND THE EFFECT OF THOSE Airlines REINTRODUCING LOW INVENTORY FARES IN NIGERIA.
If you research this, you will realise that things are not as they seem.
Leo34rf: The government can frustrate the foreign airlines by not giving them their dollars. That's one way to run them out of business or frustrate them like before.
So what do you think will happen if the U.k government retaliated and refuse to hand Airpeace their pounds? - DO you know why Emirates left Nigeria? Do you know why Airpeace could not continue ot the UAE even when they had a slot in shariah?
cedricksly: that is not an healthy competition and should not be encouraged.. Because the new company just entered the route, the old ones with enough money will start underpricing far below making profit, just to frustrate the be cat out of the market and then hike up the price again, Afterall the have enough money to sustain the losses incurred for that few months, to force the new cat out if the market. For instant Just like 700k will give a profit margin of 200k, these old airline don't mind going to 400 to 450 coz they know airpeace can't go below the 700 to 600 mark, coz they have to make profit, that is no competition that is sabotage and the aviation minister should encourage it...
Everything you have described sir, is called competition in a capitalist business environment.
Remember when the domestic airlines woke up one morning and decided to increase fares to 250k in some instances? They did this because they had leverage... in international transportation business, every person leverages on their strength.
What airpeace should do is sit down with their business development team, find where they have leverage (or create one) and then utilize it to compete effectively. For example, they can leverage on their domestic capacity and say .. look if you are travelling with us to london and you are in maiduguri, owerri, port Harcourt etc, we can fly you to lagos for free! Innovation is leverage you can use to undercut competition!
jmoore: Stop being economical with lies. It is not adjusting, they are operating at a loss while air peace is operating at a profit.
These big airlines can afford to operate at a loss for a year in order to kill a new comer into the airline. When the newcomer is pushed out of the business, they will raise their prices and recover the loss they made before. You may prefer to pay 600k to fly Ethiopia airline but if Airpeace is pursued out of the business, you will start paying 2 million to Ethiopia airline.
My brother I don't think your assertions are correct. For one, no one goes into business to make a loss.. Ethiopian Airlines you spoke about will not operate a loss solely because of Airpeace!! What then will they do with competition from the over 20 well establiched international airlines competing with them in nigeria?
Indeed do not forget that the reason fares were high in recent times was because our own government under buhari refuses to allow the airlines repatriate their money and as a result ALL INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES blocked their low fare inventory (which is why you could get lower fares in neighbouring countires last year). Tinubu's administration paid them their money a few weeks ago, and the airlines all responded by reopening their low inventory fares again!
Based on this, you will agree that current fares are not a gang up to push Airpeace our of the market - don't forget even here at home, airpeace and possibly ibom air charge the highest fares in the domestic market. Would it then be fair to claim that lower fares charged by other domestic airlines is a ploy to take Air peace and ibom air out?

It is called 'COMPETITION IN THE MARKET PLACE'! Although I am very pleased with Airpeace.. but sir STOP PLAYING THE VICTIMS CARD, buckle up, sit up and develope strategies on how to provide excellent customer service such that consumers will be happy to use your service even if they have to pay a little more. NOTHING IS HANDED ON A PLATTER TO ANYONE
Back home here... Air peace tickets to Abuja for instance are usually higher than Arik Air's for the same route. Does it mean Arik is conspiring against Air peace? No! Does it mean Arik Air has snatched the Market from Airpeace ? Big No!
Get your marketing, sales and business development teams to EARN THEIR PAY!

bobkezel: The examiner wrong. The instruction would have been
"you SHOULD read all the questions FIRST before you start answering...
No, the examiner is not wrong. The test is for a position in a LAW FIRM. Opposition lawyers will NOT PLAY FAIR. They can bury unfavourable clauses in agreements that will come back to hunt you IF YOU DO NOT READ CAREFULLY!!
Certainly you wouldn't be happy if your lawyer got you in trouble only for him to say u in his defence that the opposition deceived him because the clauses in question were written out of order!!
Faiththatworks: I'm perplexed and still in shock at what these airlines are doing. I believe in capitalism,I believe that the customer is king and free to chose any options available to him/her but sincerely I wish Nigerians could boycott all these thieving, unpatriotic, profit taking and imbecilic foreign airlines and fly only Air Peace. I say this because I know about the airline business, just 2 months ago,the cheapest tickets one way from Manchester to Lagos on ethopia airlines was close to 1 million naira when the Us dollar was close to 1400. I remember the price for the tickets around 751$. Suddenly from Lagos to London on these imbecilic airline is now 700000. U wonder the amount of crazy profit these mad airlines milked our citizens for the last 1 year. That's why I query the kind of huge losses some foreign companies operating in Nigeria were declaring last month,it's a terrible scam. Nigerian should please support their own,let us stop this terrible habit of always bring our own down, this is the emotions these foreigners play on to totally suck us dry. I stand with Air Peace and all other Indigenous owned Businesses all over Nigeria, who have put Patriotism above Profit. God bless Nigeria.
I agree that we should patronize our own.. but the premise and suggestion that it is a price war targeted at Airpeace solely is very very wrong.
Our Government refused to allow these foreign airlines take out their income from nigeria for years.. they settled those payments a few days ago, and as a result the airlines released lower inventory fares for Nigeria.
We should recall that fares TO ANY DESTINATION was cheaper in cotonou and Lome than in nigeria because of this.
Let's look at current fares to destinations not flown by Airpeace, like WASHINGTON, NEWTORK, JOHANNESBURG, SYDNEY, PARIS ETC and you will see that fares significantly reduced from what they were earlier on the year!!!
LETS BUY AND USE Nigerian, but let's also not be too sentimental about these things but analyze objectively.
GoodLife4live: you are too pain .... that is why you want to derail from the fact before you...
United nations bought cocoa from ondo and kogi through fg to support vulnerable people in INDIA AND BANGLADESH... Ohhh you meant nigeria is also better than India in terms of development and agriculture ?
Does the war in the North eastern Nigeria stop LAGOS[b] STATE from progressing/ developing ? War in some part of Ukraine doesn't stop Ukrainians from farming in other places that their is no war...
Your hate is the courses of your vulnerability reasoning... Continue wallowing delusional ism
Brother. . ALL of Ukraine is at war! and even if you were right, why is our country not capable of feeding its own citizens? Where are the reserves? Why is there so much hunger all over the country? Beyond politics, I think it is sad indeed!
blancsn1: Who doesn't know the Pandora criminal peter Obi no get sense before ? Why did the fool not reject the aid provided to him when flood ravaged Anambra when he was a governor if Anambra was that prosperous.
But I am wondering.. was Ukrain at war in 2012 when they provided aid to Anambra?
HonNL: What of the violence meted out to the people of Southern Kaduna, Benue, PLATEAU, ETC? I don't remember you releasing any press statement in those regard??
humilitypays: Honestly APC destroyed Nigeria in just 8 years.
Flight that use to be NGN15,000 is now going for NGN280,000 and no more booking ahead like 2 months ahead to save cost, all thanks to APC destructive economic policies.
Don't blame the airlines alone, it is as a result of Jet A fuel price hike all thanks to NNPC and dollar instability all thanks to CBN that is making local airfare to be this high.
Airlines pay their key staffs who are mostly foreigners in USD, they buy spare parts and go for C check in USD, so USD to Naira rate hike is also affecting them, so blame the useless APC government
You are absolutely right, but then the question is how do you mitigate your cost? By charging fares so high that your load factor becomes too low to make any meaningful recovery of the cost? or do you reduce prices, increase your load factor, and then increase revenue?
Mynd44: He has said the facts himself. The so-called forged documents are legal where the person is coming from.
If I have a baby aborted while in the US, you cannot bring a case against me in Nigeria as it is not a crime where it happened.
Plus, the moment the document was taken back to the school to certify it affirms their permission
Just wondering, so going by the same logic, can a Man declare he is now a woman in the U.S (which is legal there) and the return to Nigeria and expect to be legally recognized as such in Nigeria?
Can I legally buy weed in the United States (which is legal there) and attempt to smoke it in public in Nigeria? After all I have a receipt to show I purchased it legally!!!
You see in International LAW, you cannot export legality or illegality, based on the principle of territorial sovereignty.
If something is illegal in one country, you cannot argue that that thing must be accepted simply because it is a legal thing in another country!!
SalamRushdie: The project is already dissolved as it stands , heads are already rolling in Ethiopian Airlines as we speak, many have been sacked over the issue including the Chairman of Ethiopian Air
Take it easy.. what is your source ? How many heads have rolled in Ethiopian Airlines that you know ? The sack and replacement of their CEO had nothing to do with NIGERIA AIR!!
Unless you can substantiate your claim, abeg do not circulate misinformation!!!
