I had vista for a while, decided to upgrade cause most games i tried playing weren't compatible with it. It seems the bug is Windows 7 related. I reverted to vista, used the 'same' battery. . worked. Upgraded to 7, weeks into it. .'Consider replacing your battery'.

New charger? or Battery

Like you, I upgraded from vista business to Window 7 ultimate. On vista, I googled plugged in not charging and got to know a lot of people had the same problem cos of a bug on white elephant project vista. After migrating to Win 7, I changed the battery - no luck and then changed the charger and got lucky.

A back-up is a life saver when your computer decides to part ways with you. So, if you put your back up on the same computer and the computer decides it's time to die, how do you retrieve your back up? 

Your best bet is to get an external HDD to save and retrieve your data.

Gurus in the house, how do i locate the vga card on my system. I`m asking because i fear the guy that helped me repair my system has removed some components from it e.g my RAM that was 2gb is now 1gb and my board that was intel core is now amd turion. He told me that it was the processor that was faulty so i gave it to him to fix it. I guess he did cos the incessant hangings no longer occur but he chose not to tell me about my RAM and and board which has obviously been changed. And if i eventually loctae the VGA card. how do i know that it has not been tampered with? thanks.

Just google your exact laptop spec and compare what comes up. If you are using Win 7 or Vista, click start button and type msinfo32, all your laptop info should come up. HTH.

I remember posting on this thread a while back about having problems with my battery (The red x mark), so i read on some tech forums that there's a bug in windows 7 that fails to identify some batteries. .making it incompatible with some laptops.

Now here's the thing.
I've stopped using the battery (1 year plus and the 2nd battery i'm buying for this laptop). .since it trips off my laptop at different intervals. . (The laptop is ALWAYS on a polished wood surface so overheating shouldn't be the problem).

What i'm trying to understand is why it keeps tripping off WITHOUT the battery in it?

N.B: The factory default O.S is Vista, then i upgraded to Windows 7 (32-bits)

Seriously, I heard the bug was with vista. I had to buy a new charger when I had similar problem.

Whats your OS?  Press and hold on/off button for about 30 secs to switch off and wait few minutes to switch on again.

This happens mostly when you spill liquids on your keyboard or your computer is infected. You can take it to a good technician to help you, pending the time, make use of onscreen keyboard by clicking on start button and typing osk.exe in the dialog box.

ok, this must be a new level of PC trouble. I recently installed new fonts on my PC. As a graphic designer, i need fonts. these were in excess of 2000 fonts both truetype and opentype. but then other fontface on my PC has been screwed. Like the fontface for interface on some apps. how do i restore the fontface to default without deleting the ones i installed. I use vista home premium.

If you wish to restore back to a good setting, you can't leave some undone. It's either you rollback to a date when everything was in good condition or nothing.

^^^yeah that's true.I had similar problem of plugged in not charging,I tried all known workarounds or suggested solutions online but didn't get any luck. So, I decided to buy a new charger and it started charging. The problem, most of the time is the misuse of the cord/charger by stepping on it or leaving objects on it.
