Go through the process again and untick everything there i.e the Automatically detect settings and click ok. Fingers crossed.

On internet explorer, go to tools-internet options-connections (tab)-LAN settings-uncheck all the boxes except Automatically detect settings and click ok.

That should solve the problem, if not check the firewall.

@Denzel2009, I will suggest using teamviewer remote desktop app for the remote desktop thingy. Its available on windows, mac and linux platforms.

I have been using teamviewer for about 3 yrs, its even on my desktop up there.
