chuksanambra: What rubbish are you saying?
Didn't Wole Soyinka also support Biafra such that the was even imprisoned? Imagine the ridiculous statement that Achebe was denied a Nobel because he supported Biafra.
Wole pulled strings to bag which prize? Keep manufacturing ridiculous excuses. Anyways, Achebe made me fall in love with literature. Even a primary 4 kid can understand his works. I only wish he had bag that prize! |

chuksanambra: Chinua Achebe writes beer-parlour stories. There's nothing intellectually stimulating in the tales he weaves. He wrote stories what are better read with a combination of palm wine and peppersoup.
On the other hand, go and read 'The Interpreters' by Wole Soyinka. If you read that story without food in your stomach, you can run mad.
There's no point crying that everyone victimises you if you don't measure up to standards. He had multiple opportunities to win the Nobel but failed. Failed or denied the prize because of his sympathy for the Biafra cause? What other books of Soyinka can you use to compare Things fall apart, arrow of God and No longer at ease? Are you into literature yourself or you are just prattling? Do you even know the criterium for winning the Nobel prize? My friend lots of strings were pulled for Oga Wole to bag that prize. |

EsotericMonk: The responses herein make me realise that Nigeria has lost it. We rationalise failure such that we even kiss arses of our failed leaders. As a professional, I strive for excellence, hoping to one day be recognized by my country who I have contributed in my little way to its development. Sportsmen and ladies strive to win honours for their countries so that their names would be etched in the history books of national heroes. Some of us are just plain daft. So why do the Nobel foundation give out awards year in year out despite the hunger in Africa the wars and destruction of terrorism, the natural disasters around the world. Many of us are plain losers and mediocres. If I don't win a national honour for my country, I would surely be recognised by a more civil country. And you think national awards is neccessary for recognition? How many Nobel prize winner can you mentioned? My friend carve your name in the hearts and minds of men. Thats the truest award you can garnner for yourself death or alive. |

Mrnairalandd: It’s high time Nigeria govt stand up as a sovereign nation and tell USA to Bleep off with their fucking money
Are you not ashamed of yourself when America threaten your country that if Nigeria doesn’t follow her instruction to abstain from the voting process, she ll punish your country?
What is your sense of pride?
How do you feel when a USA citizen is proudly talking about his country while your own country is cowing whenever USA sneezes?
We should all be proud of our great country at this point in time for standing against USA foreign policy.
The USA citizens see our continent as a result of their government propaganda via CNN and BBC like animal farm where monkey live due to the fact that African leaders and citizens parade themselves without self respect and full patriotism.
128 have called USA fuckingg bluff and there is nothing on USA table to use against Nigeria.
Margaret Thatcher tried this Nonsense with Nigeria in early 80s when Nigeria Airway was grounded in UK. If it was now, i guess all these sissy men in this generation would have asked this strong and patriotic man called Buhari to chicken in and take a defeat. Thank God for giving us a man with national pride who told Britain that Nigeria ll give Britain 48hrs to release Nigeria Airways with 3 British Airways already grounded in Nigeria in retaliation. Nigeria gave British Embassy staff 48hrs to start packing their bags to leave Nigeria while Nigeria diplomats were asked to return home. What a National pride!
What is wrong with you guys in this generation without Shame? So you expected Nigeria to stay away from election cos USA say so. Pathetic!
In all your years of relationship with USA, tell me what have you gain as a country from that relationship in terms of social infrastructures, FDI and technology.
The little new infrastructures you see in Nigeria and other countries in Africa are made possible by China within the last five years of Africa relationship with China.
Finally, in the midst of Nigeria war against Bono Haram during Jonathan Administration, Nigeria govt did everything possible to get some military hardwares from USA with our money but what did USA do? She refused to sell to Nigeria with the help of Congress. USA even went as far blocking other countries from selling to us hence why we lost over billion of naira to South Africa when we were trying to get those military wares clandestinely. Thank God for Russia who later stepped in and help Nigeria out.
USA can’t hold us to ransom. It’s high time we throw their help to their face and tell them to Hell off.
The only economic power they have over Nigeria is our trade deal with USA which is our oil. If USA decide not to buy our oil, there are over 150 countries around the world ready to buy it. Why the stress?
If Ghana could proudly voted against USA foreign policy with the rest of the world like what we had few days ago, you guys lamenting and whining about why Nigeria shouldn’t have voted against it are nothing but freaking wimps and deserved to be castrated cos you are not real men.
128 countries stood together against tyranny and here you are telling 50 reasons why Nigeria shouldn’t have voted against USA. Bleep off Dawg.
If USA raises a resolution tomorrow that’s fair to the world, Nigeria is ready to work with USA.
Peace glad to see your type in Nairaland. You are brilliant. |

Uyiii: I loss respect for this short man the day he said graduates should ignore their certificates, yes it's true 9ja is a certificate less dungeon, but those words shouldn't be spewed out by a so called professor in government. You know why I like 9ja, we've been punished from time immemorial with a government who knows how to play the victim card, like they're very excellent in it. I read his whole statement and could only highlight the stupidity and backwardness romancing his speech. is it by going to filling stations to speak stupid English that's gonna remedy the nebulous lives the common masses have been going through?
It's very unfortunate they're gonna win again, even if they don't, see who they're gonna be replaced with, Atiku. I see youths gallivanting around composing hymns for atiku and I say mehn, 9ja is gone, every man for himself in this country, 9ja is gone. It's unfortunate I am a nigerian, I am not proud of my country. Stop the whinning dude and think of what to contribute to make this country great! |
