Either you have a serious case of amnesia or you just lack the ability to read and comprehend the rubbish you type and post.

While you are at it, please show us how many refineries shut down because of price or whatever silly overhead you are talking about?

Oga nobody has demeaned you,you don't understand the wrong signal contract cancellation mean to the investment community, it simply increases political risk and reduces investors confidence in your system. Not when the likes of JP Morgan and AFC are involved. The country risk premium for Nigeria is currently at 6.4%+, this overnight emotional decision just raises questions. Why not spend proper time selecting project contractors to avoid stories and unnecessary legal battles in future.

Same way your polithiefcians were in a haste to sell moribund power assets to their cronies, and till today its one story or the other from all parties.

Where is the place of proper RFP and due diligence before selection. Now Ambode has wasted 12 months of development time due to their ineptitude and corrupt tendencies.
You shouldn't be in this discussion to start with since you do not know the difference beween contact and MOU.

You keep talking about contract when in fact this is an MOU which is non binding.

Again, stop saying contract because this is not a contract.

Talking about contracts, yes you can cancel the contract based on the stipulated terms in the contract that requires such measure if the terms of the contract are not abide by like schedule and completion period.

You arguing blindly with irrelevant argument.

Price has nothing to do with production capacity as long as it takes care of our needs in Nigeria.

And oil is an international commodity and he can source his oil from anywhere.

Well, we need threw new refineries in addition to Dangote refinery to get to that goal.

Work dey
We currently consume 40 million liters per day

Dangote's refinery can produce over 55 million per day

Dongote refinery alone is enough to take care of our needs.

Not that we don't need more refineries, but Dangote alone exceeds our needs.

You clearly don't understand what you're saying cos if you do,you'd know that no single individual can just wake up one day and terminate contracts. It's the height of illiteracy. There's always a dispute resolution process in every serious MOU and am certain a unilateral decision by some crazy politician is not part of it.

This is one of the key reasons Nigeria will suffer for long. Go and ask the politicians that cancelled MOUs like Lagos Ibadan expressway,Ajaokuta, etc. It simply brings up very long legal battles that the people will suffer for long before any meaningful work is started.

What was he looking at before signing?Am sure some powers that be are just not happy with the Concessionaire perhaps the kickback is not flowing to them as expected so they have to look for a "very willing concessionaire". I won't be surprised if Tinubu orchestrated this.Yeye country.
Please stop making things up.

MOU is not a contract and it's nonbinding, it's just a statement of intent and understanding.

Lagos-Ibadan expressway was a direct contract, not MOU.

Kuwait's 22-Mile Bridge, Cost $3 Billion, Is Nearly Complete

The 36-kilometre (22-mile) bridge, three-quarters of it over water, will cut the driving time between Kuwait City and Subbiya to 20-25 minutes from 90 minutes now.

Investment in the Silk City project is expected to top $100 billion, and a 5,000-megawatt power plant has already been built in Subbiya.

At a cost of 904 million dinars ($3.0 billion), the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway, named after the emir who died in January 2006, is one of the largest infrastructure ventures in the region.

http://www.ndtv.com/world-news/kuwaits-22-mile-bridge-cost-3-billion-is-nearly-complete-1667353
Same number of miles in Kuwait cost $3 billion and only three-quarters of it is over water.
PoliticsRe: Ambode Cancels N844b Lagos 4th Mainland Bridge, Terminates concessionaire by deomello: 3:49pm On May 23, 2017
The Fourth Mainland Bridge will have four lanes and will cost a projected $2.66bn, including the cost of access roads. The state government is to launch a competitive tender process, with the eventual contract issued under the build operate transfer (BOT) model, although the period of private sector operation has not yet been set.

The timetable for construction is still to be agreed, although the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, has suggested that construction could begin before the end of this year. Some of the funding for the project has been allocated in this year’s Lagos State Government budget. The bridge will carry both passenger and cargo traffic.

An uncertain number of homes and other buildings, mainly in informal settlements, will have to be demolished and terms of compensation agreed with residents. This is often a controversial process on infrastructural projects, partly because it can be difficult to determine exactly who lives in informal settlements.

Estimates of the number of buildings affected have varied between 800 and 3,000. The state government argues that the current proposed route will minimise the number of building affected. The new road will connect Baiyeku, Langbasa and Lekki on the Lagoon estuaries to Itamaga in Ikorodu.

Stop defending bullshiit, just in 2011, a 26.4 miles bridge built across a large body of water was completed at a cost of $1.2 billion in China under 4 years (2008-2011) so what are you saying? Defending corruption again? 3d my foot. $2 billion should give us 50 miles long bridge and not this mumu 36 kilometre bullshiit
You need to stop defending your own BS and ignorant assertions.

You don't have the bridge design

You don't ave he engineering design and details including the number of lanes involved

You don't have the numbers of houses to be destroyed and people to be compensated to make way for the bridge

You don't have any facts regarding the number of ramps and exits and interchanges

The cost of materials in China is not the same in Nigeria

The cost of labor is not the same in Nigeria

China obviously did not import tools and construction materials like trucks, cranes, excavators, earth movers and so on to build their own bridge so give us the cost estimate for all that including the cost of transportation and haulage to Nigeria.

China obviously destroyed little or no houses or pay any compensation to anybody.

Show us the facts and details you summoned before making your flawed assertions because all you spewed was blind, ignorant and illogical crap.

Beautifying the environment is equally an important factor when it comes to progress and development and to add to that, beautification = Job creation, many Lagosians are working on these projects and they are getting paid to feed their families, paying rent and bills,

We all know more needs to be done, even in the USA where they have everything, more still needs to be done, but why do we always criticize here in Nigeria the same thing we see and admire in developed places?

Lagos may soon become the first state with 24hrs stable Electricity....matter of time
Funny enough, Lagos state under Asiwaju Tinubu built the 1st IPP/277MW in Nigeria to specifically for the use of the people of Lagos, but the useless anti Nigerian PDP government all because of politics and bad bele scuttled the deal, they all of a sudden directed every generated MW to go into the National grid, eventually denying Lagos state 277MW which is still generating the same 277MW today, but the people of Lagos state are still paying on that loan via FG allocation deductions till today.

Lagos state don't have 24/7 electricity today because of PDP, bad bele and politics.

Lagos state embarked on Metro rail in the 80s, again, the same FG sabotaged that effort while LASG lost almost $100 million on that deal.

...but the same Lagos state is almost done building the same Metro rail even better than in the 80s with their own money.

The only entity holding Lagos back is the FG and the same bad bele and politics.

Well,I ain't defending or supporting the government.

I am merely pointing out why we do not have power.....we are not ready to pay for it.

It is going to cost N5 trillion at least to fix power in this country. We have to replace the whole transmission system to begin with. Our budget for this year was 8 trillion.

That is why we now got the whole thing privatised. Govt knows they cannot raise that cash.

And when the people and government are not paying, what do you expect.

You can't expect 24 hour light without paying for it.

By the way, my bill last month was 15000. Naira. Which I paid. Estimated billing. Not fair, but it is right to support your power industry.

Money for power improvement does not grow on trees....
Very sensible and intelligent post.

Though privatization at the moment looks horrible and unproductive, it is still the best route in the long run.

Sadly, the DISCOS have almost zero cash to invest or use to upgrade their operations and the transmission lines are almost worthless and in need of billions of dollars in new investments or just total overhaul.

Bottom line, the DISCO need money and banks won't lend them money.

I think the whole power system should have been sold to huge power entities outside the country with money, power generation and distribution and good management skills. Many were interested, but lack of government policy direction and focus pushed them away.
