Let's hear word jare.

Enough of these celebration of mediocrity

Larfage in Ewekoro generates over 60MW for its cement plant.

Dangote in Apapa, Flour Mills, Guiness etc generate over 50MW each for their plants

Buhari and his minions will not allow us drink water because of a 9MW Perkins gas generator.

That thing they commissioned in Aba is a normal Perkins generator but uses gas instead of AGO/Petrol.

Nothing really spectacular. Only in Nigeria will a president be commissioning such and claiming it's an achievement.

I even heard it is Ariaria market taders that contributed to pay for the project.
So, the Ariaria market people are not entitled to stable and uninterrupted electricity because Dangote and Ewekoro generate more MW? Or Ariaria market people told you that they need MWs for constant electricity than the same constant electricity that they are getting today

I know you and your kind celebrate negativity, you enjoy doom and gloom, you love bad news and you are always unhappy @ any good news about Nigeria and your fellow countrymen, but when was the last time your evil and negative mind stopped us from progressing?

Hatred and negativity befalls hateful and negative people.

[quote]Chineme Okafor in Abuja

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has disclosed that out of the 37,000 shops located within the busy Ariaria International Market in Aba, Abia State, 4,000 have been connected to clean, affordable and stable electricity generated from a 9.5 megawatts (MW) gas-based power plant built under its Energising Economies Initiative (EEI) by a private investor.
It said other shops would be connected to the power system built by Ariaria Market Energy Solutions Limited (AMES), and recently commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Over a one year period, the REA said the federal government supported EEI which it implements to ensure rapid deployment of off-grid electricity solutions to provide clean, safe, affordable and reliable electricity to economic clusters such as market places; shopping centres and industrial facilities, would assist over 80,000 shops, empower over 340,000 micro, small and medium enterprises, as well as create over 2,500 jobs with the initial 16 economic clusters while serving over 18 million Nigerians.

It explained that Ariaria has 11 sections and over 37,000 shops with several trading activities including tailoring, textile trading, leather works and footwear production, printing, fabrication of tools and mechanical parts, pharmaceuticals, adding that AMES was the Special Project Vehicle (SPV) set up to fully fund, construct and managing the plant.
According to the agency, the Ariaria power system consists of a gas-fired power plant; an extensive distribution network and robust metering systems for each shop.

According to the agency, over 15,000 SMEs are currently receiving affordable and constant power supply to run their businesses, with
the project reportedly creating 250 direct jobs and 370 indirect jobs already in the market.
Speaking at the commissioning exercise, President Buhari said: “Jobs are created through investment in projects like this. This project shows progress can be made irrespective of political difference.”

Similarly, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said: “We all rallied around and said we must do the needful to give Aba the option of which power source to choose and this is far better than whatever they have seen before now.
“I am happy to say that Aba is perhaps one of the few places where we have had uninterrupted power which will scale up. With this initiative, there is a great change in business here in Ariaria market.”

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, also said the petrol generators used in the market would following the power project’s inauguration, go out of operation.

According to him: “There used to be 6,000 generators in Ariaria Market producing hazardous emissions, but now it has been majorly eliminated through the implementation of federal government policies. Ariaria IPP now provides clean and reliable energy.”
The Managing Director of REA, Damilola Ogunbiyi, equally explained that so far, 10,000 shops in Ariaria, and four other markets across the country have been provided electricity through the EEI.

Ogunbiyi added: “It is therefore very clear that, this administration is committed to ensuring that Nigerian businesses are given the ability to thrive and thus boost economic activity in a conducive and healthy environment.”

Politics › Re: Onnoghen: Magu Says EFCC Investigating Embattled CJN For Money Laundering by deomelo: 7:37am On Feb 06, 2019
would proceed to address the points at issue on the Onnoghen saga as I see it. First, the President is accused of not following due process in the suspension of Onnoghen. This matter is taken by its proponents in isolation of other developments that preceded the president’s action. It is reported and has, in fact, become public knowledge that the body constitutionally positioned to interrogate the Chief Justice of Nigeria in the event of a query or a petition against the Chief Justice is the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC). With the awareness that the state is prying into his accounts and he is to be interrogated on the amounts and dimension of transactions in the said accounts, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Chief Walter Onnoghen suspended the sitting of the NJC indefinitely. This becomes very weighty when it is acknowledged that a meeting of the NJC is not possible without the approval of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In the enabling act of the NJC, it is stated that “the council shall hold meetings at such times and place as the chairman may appoint”. Where it applies, “a meeting of the council shall be convened if five or more members make a request to that effect, in writing to the chairman, specifying the business to be transacted”. When this is placed side by side the provisions for membership of the NJC, through which over 2/3 of its members are selected by the NC, it indicates that Onnoghen has actually performed a coup against any attempt to question his weird indulgences.

If Onnoghen was not guilty, why would he suspend the sitting of the NJC indefinitely? Having done that and knowing that the NJC is the only body through due process and constitutional conformity by which he could be questioned, Onnoghen had subverted justice and crippled the capacity of the Nigerian state to check his misdemeanours. Therefore, the President acting through a motion ex parte of the court might not have had a better option to rescuing Nigeria from the evil claws of Onnoghen.

Onnoghen trying to subvert the institutions of due process of the country, in running accounts that do not reflect what he earns in salaries as a judge, Onnoghen has infringed on the moral premise; the foundation of community, the primary pillar from which everything about our coexistence devolve. Onnoghen has endangered the basis for our coexistence as a people. Meandering through the provisions of the law and emasculating this more devastating evil was the point of error on the part of most of our commentators. For democracy to exist, community must first exist. Also, for the judiciary to exist, community must be in existence. Thus, to destroy the basis of community inadvertently negates the institutions we claim we are protecting. Onnoghen was and is the problem. The errors of the executive were enabled by or incidental to his subterfuge. The primary issue is the moral ethos and not its legalistic underpinnin

The composition of the council according to the 1999 constitution is skewed as such: The chief justice of Nigeria who shall be the chairman, the next most senior justice of the supreme court who shall be the deputy chairman, the president of the court of appeal, five retired justices selected by the CJN from the supreme court or court of appeal, the chief judge of the federal high court, five chief judges of states to be appointed by the CJN from among the chief judges of the states and of the high court of the FCT, Abuja one grand kadi to be appointed by the CJN from among grand kadis of the Sharia courts of appeal to serve in rotation for two years; one president of the customary court of appeal to be appointed by the CJN from among the Presidents of the Customary Courts of Appeal to serve in rotation for two years, five members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) who have been qualified to practise for a period of not less than 15 years, at least one of whom shall be a SAN, appointed by the CJN on the recommendation of the national executive committee of the NBA to serve for two years and subject to re-appointment, provided that the five members shall sit in the Council only for the purposes of considering the names of persons for appointment to the superior courts of record, and
two persons not being legal practitioners, who in the opinion of the CJN, are of unquestionable integrity.

The PDP sold the power assets to their cronies to reap profit, but never to provide quality service.

Hmm leave talk o

Could you believe it was stated in an interview last night on TV by one of Abacha's ministers that this train transport project PDP and APC are claiming to have started was actually started by the Abacha regime. no be today! Abacha made sure these rail tracks project became reality.

Pple are just fighting on the internet on which government started it...what Pdp and Apc were/are just doing was/is simply importing the train parts and assembling them here in Nigeria for use. I even learnt most of them have been imported long time ago even before this dispensation but were kept in warehouses only to be assembled and put into use now.

Kudos to the Abacha regime for the ground breaking, near completion and the revival of the rail transport in Nigeria....that not withstanding, we can't overlook the fact that lack of policy continuity continues to be a problem in our political system.

I just pray our maintenance culture has greatly improved or else the trains and rails will disappear fast.
You mean Abacha resurrected from inside his grave to negotiate the loan for the railway and started construction in 2017 and he's even going to commission the same Lagos Ibadan railway tomorrow?

Sadly for you, the same Abacha could have built 5 and even more Lagos Ibadan high-speed railway with all the billions he stole from us.

The kind of mentality you people are saddled with says you must always praise and recognize the looters and project abandoners and ridicule the ones with fortitude, sense of duty and determination to construct and complete. What kind of warped and backward mentality is that?

You people are too young to be mentally screwed, intellectually lazy and handicap, all because of politics, tribalism and bigotry.

CityNGR:
That Ethiopia has built Africa’s first metro is illustrative of the country’s development in recent years: its economy has grown at rates of 10% per year for most of the last decade, partly thanks to grand infrastructure projects like this one. But it is evidence also of Chinese expansion across Africa. A Chinese loan paid for 85% of the $475m the Addis Ababa metro has cost; astonishingly, the line was built in just three years with plenty of imported engineering help. It will be run for the next five years by the Shenzhen Metro Group and China Railway Engineering Corporation. Chinese money is also paying for a new full-sized railway in Ethiopia, connecting Addis Ababa to Djibouti, which is planned to open next year, as well as new lines in Kenya and Nigeria.

But other metro projects in sub-Saharan Africa are rare. Lagos, Nigeria’s biggest city, has had plans for a light rail transit system for several years now, which the World Bank has helped to fund; but construction has been continually delayed. There is much fighting over what has happened to the money already spent. Other large African cities, such as Nairobi, are investing more in roads than in rails. Commuters hoping to get onto a train and skip the traffic will have to keep waiting.
[/s]

What's my business with Ethiopia? Is Nigeria Ethiopia? Do we have the same number of mouth to feed and the same land mass to lay rail tracks over? Do they have looting and stealing people like the PDP

You people sat on your hands and looked the other way when past governments and the looting and stealing PDP with the largest oil earnings in the history of Nigeria looted the treasury dry instead of building high-speed rail, instead of giving us 24/7 electricity with the $16 billion power fund they stole, many of you jokers shouting highspeed rail are the same hypocrites carrying water bottle for the same useless, incompetent looting and stealing PDP.

Sadly for you, I don't buy into the rubbish concern and crocodile tears you people shed for Nigeria because you care less, you will do anything to bring back the same people responsible for the same lack of high-speed rail you are crying over in this thread.

You are your and since you know so much about ultra modern infrastructure, run for public office and give us the best rail system in the world instead of cutting and pasting all over the place.

Buhari And His Buharideens!

He was at a Presidential Rally in Delta, he presented the Governorship Aspirant, Ogboru, as "The Presidential Candidate of APC, he was corrected, he quickly called him "the Senatorial Candidate" he was corrected, he now settled for his own version of address by calling him "Governatorial Candidate" yet some "human beings" want him back.
He was at Anambra for a Presidential Rally, when it was his time to address the crowd, he referred to Governor Ambode of Lagos State as "Kano State Governor" not done he promised to increase the level of infrastructure in his administration towards the "East Central State" (referring to Anambra). He was at Calabar for another Presidential Rally, while presenting the aspirants, he unknowingly raised up the hand of Ndoma Egba as the "Governatorial candidate" while neglecting the real "Gubernatorial candidate" standing by his side until he was again corrected. At Kano Presidential Rally, Buhari the self-acclaimed "Mr Integrity," was seen right before the camera raising up the hands of Ganduje, sitting Governor of Kano State caught on camera collecting bribe in hard currencies for a second term endorsement and you wanna ask what type of endorsement is this? Anytime issues are brought before him, it is either he is unaware of such like the appointments given to the dead sometimes early last year.

It is record that under 3 years of Buhari, Nigeria had borrowed at an embarrassing rate never before seen in the history of this Country. He is definitely not in charge of the affairs of this nation, our treasury, our future as Nigerians. He is showing signs of dementia and fast going senile yet these cabals are hellbent to continue to use him as their "fall guy" till they bury our nation.

I will say that in all these, Buhari can only be responsible for 15% of the entire mess, the cabals take 25% while the remaining 60% can be ascribed to the madness exhibited by the so-called Buharideens or Buharists who have taken their "fanatic tendencies to the level of gross idiocy that animals will not even express". The whole drama is right before there eyes with convincing statistics that Nigeria under Buhari is less safer to live than previous government yet you hear "Sai Buhari"! Nigeria's debt keep mounting both locally and internationally, yet it is "Sai Buhari"! Unemployment has assumed a ridiculous and dangerously traumatic height that had given birth to all manner of vices never before experienced among youths, yet you hear "Sai Buhari"! Life has been terrible for these blind followers of Buhari called Buharideen and Buharists yet they will defend him ignorantly that it is a sacrifice they must pay to get it right. I asked, was there a time Nigeria had ever been broke for them to be treated like stray dogs by a President who promised them "bread and butter while campaigning"? Nigeria under Buhari overtook India as the nation with the highest number of poor and miserable people on planet earth, yet Buharideens blame PDP. Buhari refused to make notable changes in his inept cabinet of almost 4 years, yet it is "Sai Buhari"! Cattle ranch are being supported with N91 billion while our students only needed N50 billion to open their different institutions of learning yet he refused them but got more interested in the "Cow business" you will still hear "Sai Buhari"! The biting "Domino Effects" of unemployment had led many to suicide, rituals, yahoo+, thuggery, insurgency, forced prostitution, and many other vices. His minions will still exonerate him. Boko Haram are now getting ransom and still striking almost every week (which never happened under Jonathan's time) yet you hear these lost ones chanting "Sai Buhari"!

It is now crystal clear to all and sundry that Buhari like I indicated above is not to blame in the real sense of it but a "set of hypocrites who had sworn to an oath of secrecy" to remain stupid and defensive in the face of stark realities of negative effects of Buharinomics killing Nigerians while exonerating those within his camp and party like his party chairman once boasted that, "no matter your level of sins all you need do is just cross over to APC and all will be well"! Yet these set of "hungry, blind, ignorant and arrogant mice" rejoice at their "saviour Buhari" anytime he hit their towns with his open gaffe and empty promises. Need I say more? I don't think it is necessary because these Buharideens are just in the minority and as Nigeria go to the polls in few days time, I will urge them to Resist intimidation and vote for a better option, his name, Atiku Abubakar!
Nigeria needs peace before jobs, good standard of living, healthy and lively citizens, power supply, basic infrastructures etc can be birthed.

Peace!

OP, This is the first time your post made absolute no sense to me. Please, don't start doing things that maybe harmful to your brand.

The reason the FG started with locomotives is the same reason the Americans are yet to have Hyperloop trains.
Lack of realistic expectations is the reason we are not making progress as a nation. In Europe many country still use diesel engine trains. In our city here we use trams powerd by electricity on the tram tracks along public urban streets.
Towns and cities are linked by different kinds of rails with diesel engine locomotives.
Majority of people commenting here has never seen a train track in their entire life likewise their parents.
At this stage in our development, which is obviously stunted, It is better we have 100 locomotives than 20 high speed if the the cost of the 100 is same as or less than the 20.
Since it is about the current government, maybe Atiku will update his campaign promise with the provision of high speed trains connecting all the 36 state capitals and the FCT within 100 days in office.

Moreover, the picture you shared is not that of the actual cabin. That's for moving parts and equipment around. Why can't you show the full picture?
Excellent post..

They'd like us to believe that the same people with zero ability and capacity to complete any rail project in 16 years are all of a sudden capable of giving us the best railway in the world.

Fortunately for Nigerians, the choice is clear and well defined, the first time in the history of Nigeria, a railway system was started and completed in less than 2 years.

16 years of nothing under PDP or 2 years of start to finish rail system under PAC?

In the history of the PDP, they've never completed anything meaningful, not even their own secretariat which as usual was abandoned with the funds looted and parked in private bank accounts.
