[s] bigsmoke2: First i must state that I'm not in any way affiliated with PDP or any other party there are all the same. Give excuses all you want but the fact which you and your fellow bootlickers have descided to shy away from is that a 35km rail project should not take a decade to complete it's inexcusable. Even the light rail in Ethiopia you are shouting took 36 months to complete. [/s] 1. Ethiopia is a country with sovereign resources, Lagos is a state in Nigeria.
2. The metro trail in Ethiopia is 31 km long, not 35 km.
3. Lagos Metro is part of a broader system including 10 lane freeway with BRT access. Do they have that in Ethiopia too/
4. Both projects are not the same, they have different specifications, terrain and route requirements and last I checked, Ethiopia did not build several km of metro rail bridge over any Lagoon like they are doing in Lagos.
Only empty, shallow and unintelligent people make such silly and ignorant comparisons. |

There are thousands of dollars millionaires of igbo extraction living in Lagos and even Alausa recognises there importance. They pay there tax to Lagos State government and when I mean tax I am talking significant amount. Most of you should stop coming online to make noise.
I am not here to start bragging or this, but those in charge of Lagos State know the value they add to the economy of the state even Asiwaju knows that so kids like you should just shush up. Ethiopian Light rail doesnt ALL run on land just like Lagos Light rail as well doesn't on the Badagry expressway axis. Since you've been to Ethiopia and have seen their wonderful metro rail across so many terrains, please show us the rail tracks and bridge they built over swamp and marshland like they did in Lagos.
Show us the bridge they built over kilometers of Lagoon water like they did in Lagos.
Show us the Metro stations they built in Ethiopia and let's compare with the ones in Lagos.

wristbangle: Deomelo,
I'm aware 100 million euro can't complete the project. The mentioned amount if it is 100% implemented would have travails the project beyond it's current state of development.
Need to say, atleast some percentage would have been shared from the government to the contractor (corporate corruption )
I understand the cons withholding the project completion such as topography, cost estimate, etc. Had it been the project manager/coordinator did a thorough feasibility study from the onset, a more realistic pipeline and fund management will be recorded for this project progress Based on what?
Based on your own detailed construction knowledge, engineering knowledge, cost of tools and materials knowledge, pilling and drilling cost, equipment importation and clearing cost, bridge and concrete cost and soon.
Please give us a detailed breakdown you based your expertise on.
You can not substitute facts with gossips, baseless and ignorant assertions. |

LaudableXX: Abeg, stop comparing apples with cocoyams. You just said that Ottawa's light rail is expected to run underground. This means drilling, excavation, concrete tunnels etc, would be prevalent in the Ottawa design. Did any part of the Lagos light rail run underground? How much excavation was done, down here? The Ottawa Light Rail is expected to include a 3.2km-long downtown tunnel, unlike the Lagos light rail.
Secondly, the type of trains to be used for the Ottawa light rail system, are quite different from the Tokunbo models that would be deployed on the Lagos light rail system. They are brand new swanky Bombardier bullet trains, not the same type as those proposed for Lagos LRT.
Thirdly, the Ottawa light rail is expected to span 6 years for the entire project, from inception to completion. Lagos light rail has been under construction for how many years again....remind me? Not fancy like the ones in Canada, but they are new and not Tokunbo, get your facts right.. |

Realdeals: Can you tell me how much has been expended so far on the project? I don't know, I just know the whole contract including the road expansion is about $600m and out of which Ambode claim to have spent 100M Euro What I also know is that out of the amount Ambode have spent so far, No rail station was built, even the piling across the Lagoon has not reached any appreciable level, the only work that was done on that project is between Ebute ero and CMS, what else?
You don't know, but you are still spewing tales and acting as if you kmnow/ Are you confuesYou are not a construction engineer and you have zero clue par what the project entails or cost of materials, labor and so on so stop spewing baseless and ignorant tales.I can not prove what I never asserted, you made the claims about cost so the burden is on you to sow us documented facts relating to rail cost all over the world to compare with Lagos metro rail.
Do that and quit spewing rumors, gossip and flawed opinion.

Realdeals: You mean 100m Euro has been expended between Iganmu and Marina and the work is yet to be completed? Fashola completed Iganmu to Mile 2 before leaving office. They should also stop deceiving themselves with the red lane, FG is still struggling to create space for the Lagos-Ibadan rail track in some places like Oshodi and Ikeja So, you are a financial and cost expert when it comes to metro rail construction? Iganmu to Marina means constructing a rail bridge and track over the Lagos Lagoon from Iganmu to Marina/CMS.
So, as a financial and construction cost expart, please tell us how much it cost tro drill and pile from Iganmu to Marina, also the cost of labor and materials and so on.

LaudableXX: Guy, which other light rail project in the world is as expensive as the one that Lagos has embarked upon? Over 100 million Euro has been spent, and yet it is unfinished. Instead of trying to do a root cause analysis, we are giving excuses of topography and swamps? Haba! If the same topography and swamp existed in another country, the light rail would have been completed and put into operation, since! How many years have they spent building that thing, and yet it is still uncompleted? If you are going to talk about cost and wail that the one in Lagos is the most expensive, commonsense dictates that you show us the total cost of the rail projects in other countries, list the total cost o far for Lagos metro and lets compare.
