GreatManBee:
Frankly. Ambode has not done much as expected in my view.
Nothing significant beyond flyovers, lay bye, bus stops and terminals still under construction.

No ground breaking, or major futuristic projects like his predecessors Metro rail system and the 10 lane Badagry express with BRT access and he's even refused to finish many of his predecessors projects.

4th MB is still a dream..

I honestly think the man is void of bold and imaginative ideas

1. We are talking about Lagos state, not the country. Learn how to read, comprehend and follow simple internet discussion.

2. According to his predecessor's achievements at the same time period in office, he's very very far behind especially considering the fact that Ambode's budget is almost 3 times his predecessor's budget.

Leave Lagos matter alone and face your backward ipob village where they haven't commissioned anything significant since independence.

We have the Nigerian constitution and party constitution.

The people who can afford it would afford it, and it would help grow the economy of the country, which in turn would positively affect the lives of everyone including the poor.

Not every venture must be aimed directly at the poor poor and poor before we accept it is good. Nigeria also has a large middle and upper class who need to be catered for.
Well said. In fact, the poor benefits directly and indirectly from such investments via jobs and infrastructures the generated IGR from such investments creates.

I don't think a GSM analogy is valid here. Travellers are different. A national airline involves a lot of international travellers to be profitable. The problem is that they have to pass through your country and airport. Our airports are the worst in the world. Finally, Nigerians can barely feed. What percentage even fly locally? We have serious economic issues. I don't see a profitability path with our current infrastructure.
When you have serious economic issues, you drum up investments to create jobs, expand revenue base and so on, but according to people like you, it's the other ignorant and backward way around.

Major investments like what we are talking about in this thread create jobs for many Nigerians and the same jobs will make it possible for the same Nigerians you think you are fighting for to afford food, a roof over their heads, school fees and even money to buy plane tickets if possible.

Or you think the airline will fly without Nigerian pilots, without Nigerian ticketing agents, without Nigerian vendors, without Nigerian accountants, without Nigerian lawyers, without Nigerian printers and sign writers, without Nigerian stationary vendors, without Nigerian car dealerships, without Nigerian jet fuel and oil companies and on?

Such businesses and investments grow the government's taxes/IGR, the same IGR is what your government build schools, hospitals, roads, bridges and fund government program and services.

You people are just too shortsighted and misguided because

you in one breath act as if you really care about the poor man while in another breath you are against jobs, food and rent and everything that helps the same poor man you are faking support for.

You people care less about the poor man, you are just against Nigeria, against the Nigerian government and anything Nigerian.

Politics › After A String Of Governorship Losses PDP Resolves To Change Name. by deomelo(op): 9:47am On Jul 22, 2018

Olawale Olaleye in Lagos and Daji Sani in Yola

In a move widely believed to be pre-emptive and designed to prevent the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from exploiting issues from the recent political realignments in the country, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has finally resolved to change its name ahead of the 2019 general election. THISDAY learnt that PDP, which planned to announce the decision to change its name today, had also pencilled in Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu as the one to head a committee that would walk the party through the procedure.

That was as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said Saturday in Yola that the federal government led by the APC had failed Nigerians and the people were yearning for change. Atiku stated this at Ribadu Square, in the capital of his home state of Adamawa, at a rally where he formally declared his intention to contest next year’s presidential election on the platform of PDP. He decried the killings in different parts of the country and blamed the APC for visiting insecurity, tragedy, division, and economic misery upon the citizens.
Atiku promised to restore national unity, security of life and property, and economic prosperity if elected president.

THISDAY gathered last night that the decision by the PDP to change its name might have stemmed from last Thursday’s meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and Senate President Bukola Saraki. Though, details of their discussion were not made public, many in PDP believed that with such sessions, the chances of bringing Saraki back to the PDP could be hampered.

The opposition party had long mooted the idea of name change, but had slowed down on the decision because a majority of its members were not disposed to it, and those who wanted it could not convince the others.

Besides, it was thought that even though the party had switched positions and had become an opposition party, PDP was still the only party with membership in the remotest parts of the country, and the name resonated with a majority of its members and admirers, particularly among the teeming illiterate populations.

But this very thinking had since changed, especially with the prevalent narrative of the ruling party, which is always attacking the PDP as a corrupt party. PDP believes the corruption allegation is the main defence APC has found to justify its continued stay in office, despite widespread belief that it has mismanaged the affairs of the country.

Leaders of the opposition party are, therefore, of the opinion that since the ruling APC may be unable to campaign with a good record on economy and security, the only thing it has going for it is the attempt to de-market the opposition by constantly alluding to corruption allegations. However, once the name changes, leaders of the party reckon, PDP would naturally die with the corruption tag and the engagement would shift to issues-based debate. Many PDP members feel that APC would be unable to sustain such a debate owing to its poor performance in the last three years.

It is also believed that in the run up to 2019, PDP has gained many sympathisers, some of who are, however, uncomfortable with the name because of the baggage that comes with it. The party’s leaders are, therefore, of the view that with the old name gone, PDP’s sympathisers would not only openly identify with it, but most of them would also attract more members, thus putting it in a position of advantage to effectively take on APC in the next election.

Therefore, the assignment before the Ekweremadu committee would be to come up with a name that best suits the party, considering the short time between now and 2019, and also not forgetting that such a name must be easily recalled by illiterate citizens.
Meanwhile, Atiku was well received at his declaration ceremony in Yola, which took place in a carnival-like atmosphere.

Still ambiguous. No where in your link did they specify amount of Government investment so we can't imply it's just 5 percent of the $300m..

One of your link even stated the $300m as the Start up cost....not the total equity required for the airline investment.
Your problem is gross inability to read and comprehend simple English words.

I will give you some historical references. To get Obasanjo as a Yoruba resident, There have been many prominent Yorubas who contested before Obasanjo, e.g Awolowo in 1979, Falae in 1992 Abiola in 1993 when Yorubas insistent has become loud enough Obasanjo was voted in and he allied with many people of other tribes

To get Jonathan presidency there have been many agitation by the SS, Towards 2007 election, Almost all the SS governors came out for president Odili, Ibori, Igbnedion Attah and especially Duke. With his agitation Yar Adua had to pick a Jonathan who ended up being president

Before Buhari in 2015, He has contested for presidency 3 times earlier and lost after which he learned and realigned made some concession, carried people like Tinubu along and won the presidency

In the past 30yrs how many Ibo people have seriously contested for presidency. In 1992 who were the serious Ibo candidates, In 1993 In 1999, In 2003, 2007, 2011 2015 who are the serious candidates from the SE. Toards 2019 which popular SE candidates is coming out for presidency, we are hearing Buhari, Atiku Saraki Dankwanbo Duke how many people from SE have associated with any popular party and made consultations to be president

By Januray 2019 you will now start asking why is there no Ibo president

Which platform has the SE invested in to become their own push for president. Is it PDP, PPA, APGA or which one?
I really don't think they are interested in any kind of political investments, they think they are entitled to it and it should be handed over to them. They have a sad case of flawed sense of entitlement.

APC is largely a product of outreach, grand bargaining and strong regional alliances, not a product of sidon look and give it to me because I'm entitled to it.
