jamesibor:
Has Governor Rochas Okorocha Committed a Mortal Sin?

Changing Assumpta Avenue to Muhammad Buhari Rd is a mortal sin against God in my opinion. It is the seventh sin against the holy spirit and a mortal crime against the city and people of Imo state.

This road was named after the Assumpta Catholic cathedral in Owerri.I will not take you through the unequal contribution of the Catholic church to the advancement of governor Okorocha's people. That will be a waste of time and space.

Let me however remind governor Okorocha that the people of Owerri gave that whole part of the city to Catholic missionaries long before that city took its structure and long before governor Okorocha's father was born.

Maria Assumpta cathedral became an apostolic vicariate in conjunction with Onitsha in 1934.It was the apostolic vicariate of Onitsha-Owerri until its split from Onitsha in 1948.It went on to became a full time diocese in 1950.The pioneer Bishop of that diocese;Joseph Brendan Whelan secured that area and started its construction a decade before the governor was born.

This same bishop was the Irish Catholic bishop who was imprisoned by the federal government led by Col Yakubu Gowon for six months and later deported at the end of the Nigerian-Biafran war in 1970.His only offence was that he refused to abandon his congregation and worked very hard to prevent their annihilation during the Biafran war.
Such were the services the Catholics and their representatives rendered to Owerri and it's people at the time of their need.

On the other hand, let's examine Muhammadu Buhari's historical service to Owerri and it's people.

Buhari was a company commander with the Nigerian 16th Brigade that captured Owerri in October 1968 after shelling the city to submission. He was among the Nigerian troops trapped in the city and surrounded by Biafran forces for six months until they managed to pull out in April 1969 in what remains the biggest military battle during the Biafran war and one of the biggest military siege in this modern world.

When the Biafrans killed the Brigade's 2ic Major Ted Hamman,Buhari became the second in command of the Brigade-under the command of Col. EA.Etuk- that later returned to retake Owerri in 1970.

The mass graves discovered in Owerri when the 16th Brigade pulled out would remain a part of Buhari's records in that city forever.
That bloody record has been dwarfed by Governor Okorocha renaming this road Muhammadu Buhari Road.

The graves of thousands who died in defense of Owerri have been desecrated. The sufferings of Bishop Joseph Brendan Whelan in Nigeria prison and the 132 years services of the church to the people has been called into question.

I dont think it is too late for the governor to repent in other to avoid God withdrawing his saving grace upon him.

Those close to him should tell him to make haste and confess his sins before it is too late.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10155979372169289&id=647374288
I am quite sure Muhammadu Buhari was never a member of 3MCDO therefore could not have been involved with 16th Brigade of 3MCDO. He has never contributed anything to the city of Owerri either negatively or positively.

2. He must have attained the age of thirty-five years;
3. He must be a member of a political party and that political party must have sponsored him; and
4. He must also be educated to at least the School certificate level or its equivalent.

While you wait for your time to be up in Anambra State, I suggest you support the Igbo peeps whose time is already up in Yari.ba land to become the governor of any of the states in Yari.ba land.

Let Yorubas start a movement like IPOB for Oduduwa republic and see if Nigeria won't tremble. All your Obi, Sultan and Emirs in the North will come begging.

It has haplened before during Abiola when the West went wild. They had to beg us with presidency. Just let us get tired of this union and I bet it that most tribes in Nigeria will go poor and hungry

This is an observation I have made over some time now.

Why are the Yorubas ready to take anything thrown at them, especially by the Igbos just so long as Nigeria remains?

They have the seaports, major international airports, major train system, best investment location...more educated and more industrious than any tribe in Africa...or so they claim...Yet they are ready to receive insults including letting others buy their lands, develop it, and even become their Obas and governors...All for One Nigeria.

Is there something they are not telling us? Why are they so desperate for one Nigeria...even when their leader Awo stated that Nigeria was never a nation. Why are they ready to give up their pride, culture, and tradition for one Nigeria?
The Yari.ba are the sole beneficiaries of dilapidated and unprogressive zoo called Nigeria. They are happy as long as Nigeria is backward. Anytime the call for Nigeria's disintegration is made, Yari.ba people go into a tailspin of temporary madness. They have the false sense of assumption that since Lagos is situated in Yari.ba land with all the financial benefits that linked to it, Yari.ba peeps think they are now on top of the world. They foolishly forgot that such pretense is a mark of disaster to come. It is this type of false sense of pretense that will lead to war when Nigeria tends to disunion.

blinkmoneyo:
Aida Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank is the most exposed place to tear gas on the planet, according to a ground-breaking new study. The report by the Human Rights Centre of the University of California at Berkeley findsthat Israel's security forces are guilty of carrying out "widespread" 'frequent' and"indiscriminate" use of tear gas against Palestinian refugees. The study - which is said to be the first to analyse the effects of the use of tear gas in the West Bank - found that 100 per cent of residents surveyed in Aida refugee camp were exposed to tear gas.The report, titled No Safe Space: Health Consequences of Tear Gas Exposure Among Palestine Refugees, study was carried out in the summer of this year on Aida and Dheisheh refugee camps near Bethlehem. It is due to be released in full on Thursday but Al Jazeera has been given exclusive access to its findings."We found that the constant and unpredictable use of tear gas in Palestine refugee camps has a devastating effect on the mental and physical health of residents - especially the most vulnerable, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, and people already in ill health," said the report'sco-author Dr Rohini Haar, a researcher at UC Berkeley's Human Rights Center and a doctor with Physicians for Human Rights.Salman Abu Sitta: Jerusalem is Palestinianlonger than London is EnglishThe study reveals that refugee camps are among the most vulnerable to tear-gas exposure in the occupied Palestinian territories. It found that all of the 236 individuals surveyed in Aida Camp were exposed to tear gas in the past year, of which 84 percent were exposed in the home.Residents say the use of tear gas by the Israeli army was "primarily unprovoked".According to the study, residents of several refugee camps in the occupied Palestinian territory including Aida have reported exposure to tear gas two to three times a week for more than a year, but in some months, almost every day.Aida is home to some 6,400 Palestinian refugees living in area of just 0.017sq km, making it one of the most densely populated places in the world. Two years ago, an Israeli soldier was filmedwarning residents of the camp: "People of Aida refugee camp, we are the occupation forces. You throw stones, and we will hit you with gas until you all die. The children, the youth, the old people - you will all die.""I think it is really hard for people who are not sitting in Aida camp to understand the kind of levels of tear gas we are talking about," Dr Haar told Al Jazeera. She said the study shows "all body systemswere affected" as a result of frequent exposure to tear gas."People describe neurological systems like fainting or headaches, tingling, numbness and then nausea and vomiting, chest pains -everybody's system is affected by this," Dr Haar said. The Israeli army did not answer Al Jazeera's request for a comment on the findings of the study. However, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the body responsible for providing service to Palestinian refugees, has confronted the Israeli authorities with the report's findings. The study says the findings regarding the frequent use of tear gas by the Israeli army are consistent with media reports and UNRWA's documentation of ISF utilisation of these chemicals in the camps.US President Donald Trump's recognition ofJerusalem as Israel's capital on December 6 and the ensuing protests have increased the exposure of Palestinians to tear gas to an "almost daily occurrence", the study says.

WisdomFlakes:
This comment here exposes your ignorance of the details of the case. Under the loan terms agreed by Mr. Innocent on behalf of Innoson, proprietary interest in the imported items was exclusively consigned in favor of the GTBank.

This, in strict terms, means that the bank owned the imported goods. As such, the original shipping documents (Bills of Lading), were duly held by GTBank and remain in its possession.

On account of the bank's exclusive ownership of the goods only it can transfer ownership to Innoson or any other party.

A condition in the loan agreement for the release of the goods by the bank to Innoson was the payment of 25% of the value of each Letter of Credit transaction by the auto assembly company.

Mr. Chukwuma, on behalf of Innoson, approached GTBank requesting the release of the shipping documents without fulfilling the condition requiring him to pay payment the agreed 25% of the value of each letter of credit. On account Innoson's failure to meet the condition in the agreement, the bank turned down the request.

What followed stunned and riled the bank. It discovered in June 2011 that the shipping documents for goods it declined to release to Innoson because of its failure to meet the agreed conditions had fraudulently been obtained by Innoson.

Innoson, on the instruction of its Chairman, had forged GTBank’s endorsement on the Bills of Lading to the shipping line, fraudulently clearing the imported items, which consigned to the bank.

This means that being the property of the bank, the items should never have been cleared from the ports without the bank endorsing the original shipping documents in favor of Innoson or any third party.

What Innoson did was to forge the signatures of Messrs Taofeek Olalere, Dan Attah, Bunmi Adeyemi and Amazu Amalachukwu, all GTBank staff, as well as the bank’s stamp on all the shipping documents to clear the goods at the ports. Insiders said the bank never endorsed or transferred the shipping documents to Innoson, as their original copies remain in the bank’s possession.

That is the part you either skipped or deliberately chose to overlook. You are biased dude.
This crap you posited related to the container of goods sold by the Nigerian Customs. Innonson sued Nigerian Customs and GTB and won the case.

Do you know what Import finance facility (IFF) means?

The bank established the LC on the back of Innonson making an equity contribution of 25% whie the bank open a confirmed LC for 100% bank guarantee

Nornally such Bill of Lading ( the most important shipping document) will be consigned to the order of the bank while innonson will be a NOTIFY PARTY and the correspondent bank will send all the original shipping documents to only the bank

Innonson can only clear the goods IF the bank now ENDORSED the shipping documents to the company by STAMPING with the bank stamp and signed by the authorised signatories of the bank - usually 2 signatories.

The question is who signed and released those documents, if not ENDORSED, how did he get the RAR (PAAR replaced RAR) , how did he get the duty assessement, how did he pay the duty assessed, or which bank did he pay the duty of which GTB created the Form M,how did innonson cleared the goods? Political connection by arm twisting the customs and the shipping company ?

Remove ignorance and tribalism and you will see that Innoson have a lot of questions to answer
Arrant nonsense!!!! GTB has lost not one or two legal battles with Innoson but five and yet to loose another one in the court of public opinion. GTB engaged in a fraudulent financial transaction and was caught red-handed. GTB agreed on a private and independent auditor which found GTB liable to a fraud in the amount over 500 million naira.

I am coming up with a proposal to all our states in South West region of Nigeria-Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun state that all lands should only be leased for period of 5years to Non indigenes instead of outright acquisition. In this proposal, Yorubas ll be asked to ask for few documents before a land ll be leased to non-indigenes. A letter from a head of a family and local govt identification should be part of documents to ask for before the transaction even allow to take place.

I strongly believed we need this to prevent non-indigenes from polluting our cultures, traditions, politics and many other things.

It’s high time we come together as Yoruba people and protect our nation within a nation called Nigeria. Let’s create an Odua nation that our children ll be proud of tomorrow.

Moving forward, i will like to read your views about this proposal.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has traced 38 choice houses to a former Chairman of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Dr. Ngozi Olojeme.

Mrs Olojeme, Deputy Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Goodluck Campaign Organisation in 2015, is being investigated by the EFCC for alleged diversion of $48,485,127 from the accounts of the NSITF.

Of N62.3billion fraud discovered in NSITF, $48,485,127 is allegedly credited to Mrs. Olojeme.

The anti- graft agency has secured a court order to place the assets under interim forfeiture, pending Mrs. Olojeme’s trial.

Besides, EFCC has obtained a warrant from the court to detain the suspect for two weeks to complete the first round of the investigation and her arraignment.

Mrs. Olojeme, who is said to have taken ill, is at a private hospital in Abuja where EFCC detectives are keeping an eye on her.

EFCC detectives uncovered 40 houses, 38 of which are believed to be Mrs Olojeme’s.

Of the 38 houses, detectives rated the mansion at No. 51, Kainji Crescent in Maitama, as a “multi-billion naira piece with some foreign leaders occasionally staying there when they come visiting”.

The golden mansion was at the weekend sealed off by the EFCC.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “EFCC recovered over 40 properties out of which 38 belong to the ex-NSITF chairman, including the property at No. 51, Kainji Crescent, off Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama District.

“The Kainji Crescent property is said to have housed some foreign leaders when they came visiting. It is a multi-billion naira mansion.

“We have invoked sections 28 and 34 of the EFCC (Establishment Act) 2004 and Section 13(1) of the Federal High Court Act, 2004, which empower the agency to apply the Interim Assets Forfeiture Clause.”

Section 28 of the EFCC Act reads: “Where a person is arrested for an offence under this Act, the Commission shall immediately trace and attach all the assets and properties of the person acquired as a result of such economic or financial crime and shall thereafter cause to be obtained an interim attachment order from the Court.”

The EFCC source went on: “As I am talking to you, we have placed all the over 40 assets under interim forfeiture based on the approval of our application by the court. The assets will be temporarily forfeited until the end of the trial of all the affected suspects.”

“We have also secured a court order to detain her for two weeks in preparation for Dr. Ngozi Olojeme’s arraignment in connection with the alleged diversion of $48,485,127 from NSITF’s account. We have charges already prepared and we will be arraigning her soon.

“But she sought for medical attention in a private hospital for an undisclosed illness. We accorded her the right to seek medical aid and deployed in detectives and sentry guards to the hospital.”

The EFCC has already arraigned a former Managing Director of NSITF, Umar Munir Abubakar, and four others for alleged diversion of N18billion.

The others are Henry Ekhasomi Sambo, Adebayo Adebowale Aderibigbe, Chief Richard U. Uche and Aderemi Adegboyega.
The cash was said to be the Federal Government’s contribution to the take-off grants and Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) for Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

EFCC’s report on preliminary investigation said in part: “That through this process, Dr. Ngozi Olojeme, the then NSITF board chairman, has collected a total sum of $48,485,127 from Mr. Chuka Eze (her account officer at FBN), which cash he collected on her behalf being the dollar equivalent of monies paid to BDCs by NSITF contractors.

“She and others also diverted huge cash allocated for allowances of its staff and compensation to contributors. Detectives actually traced some of the NSITF funds in the personal accounts of Olojeme and the former MD, Umar Abubakar.

“For instance, Abubakar and others dishonestly converted to N18billion, being contribution from the Federal Government of Nigeria as take-off grants and Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) for MDAs.
“The said sum was diverted into personal accounts by an e-payment mandate jointly signed by Umar Munir Abubakar and Henry Ekhasomi Sambo.”

The report added: “It was discovered that the NSITF accounts in First Bank of Nigeria and other banks have witnessed a total turnover of over N62, 358,401,927 between 2012 and 2015 from the Employee Compensation Scheme contributions.

“That out of the N62bn, the Federal Government contributed N13,600,000,000 while the sum of N48,758,401,927.80 was contributed by the private sector. That there were several payments to individuals and companies from the NSITF bank accounts for purported contracts or consultancy services.

“That some individuals and companies that received these payments, in turn, transferred part of the monies directly to the NSITF officials while others transferred huge sums to bureau de change operators who changed them to dollars.”

Nigerians and their stupidity do not know limits. Why do the officials arrest an attendant instead the owner of the filling station?

They can live anywhere they chose, it is their father's house and they have a right to it.
You sound like a person of counterculture. If we go by your silly illogicalities, the first son can equally tell them to go to hell and the compound belongs to him. The saga must be amended through the application of levelheadedness born out of wisdom inculcated by culture and tradition of the people.

Power corrupts people. When you give total control to a person because
he is the first born, he will likely abuse such power.
If you have lived in the east, you will know that this case is not isolated
and has nothing to do with politics because some siblings, uncles and mothers
who are not politicians also engage in inheritance war whenever the first
son try to assert his "sole right" to his father's properties.

The injustice must stop.
This is not a matter of power because not all first sons wield certain power in a family. The husband of the said lady in the thread did not have two wives therefore there is nothing to share. However in a levelheaded situation, the first son in this picture should use his wisdom granted to him to manage his father's compound that is naturally bestowed onto him due to demise of his father. It is unfortunate that in most ceases in Igbo land today. the young ones want to flaunt wealth they cannot even earn by themselves.

This is what you get with a culture that unfairly wills all a father's properties
to the first son as if he has two heads.
To make matters worst women in the family, including the mother are
treated like nobody and they have no say or inheritance from their
late father's property. They are usually at the mercy of the first son.
Good you remembered the first son part. Are you also going to criticize the same culture when the first son is called upon to perform certain rites for the dead father because he is the first son? There is nothing wrong with the culture however everything is wrong with people who tend to become counterculture by playing idiotic politics of the day. I can assure you there is more to political affiliation to this matter than the culture.
