Your statement is a misconception Many of those people didn't even worship Jesus Christ as lord and personal savior/God as you do in Christianity. |

Anas09: Wait! Do you seriously believe that atheists think more rationality than Christians or you are saying this becos that is the general atheistic thought?
If there's any irrationality amongst men, found amongst those who believe only what they can see. I actually believe religious people (including Christians) are more likely to abandon use of logic and critical thought, and stick to dogmatic beliefs and superstitions as influenced by their religion. |
Christianity Etc › Re: He Wants Me To Be His Best Friend But He Is An Atheist. by DeSepiero(m): 7:05pm On Nov 11, 2018 |
Anas09: Within the context of this Op, it is.
Every Atheist hates Christ and His followers, they careless if someone is a Muslim, but be a Christian, if they can't bully you down, they pretend friendship then disparage and malign the Lord by Pointing to the blindness of their eyes with the hope of getting you to be as blind as they are.
So, yeah, it is. You're wrong! Every atheist doesn't hate Christ and his followers. I believe what atheists hate is the abandonment of reason and critical thought for dogma which is often the case in religious circles. Atheists must have friends and family who are Christians which they love. |

Anas09: When a word is used outside context, it can be made to mean anything. But within this context, distraction is making an effort to turn someone away from his course. So it's imperative that we remember within contexts. In essence, within the context of this discuss the same thing holds isn't it? |
Christianity Etc › Re: DOES ATHEISM MAKE YOU FEEL MORE LEARNED THAN CHRISTIANITY? by DeSepiero(m): 1:05pm On Nov 11, 2018 |
computergeek: I like your points. So in essence, what you're saying is that everyone should do what rocks their boat? Well, to a large extent, believe affects the psychic of a person. It's all in the mind and it's a very individualistic journey. The mind is the man. You may be 'Doing what rocks your boat' wrongly till something triggers that quest to your personal enlightenment and total peace. I'll close by saying that wherever you belong, it would be wise to 'drop dogma and keep an open mind'. Even Jesus Christ, from what was told of him, wasn't dogmatic as well as many other great minds upon whose teachings religions were formed. |
Christianity Etc › Re: DOES ATHEISM MAKE YOU FEEL MORE LEARNED THAN CHRISTIANITY? by DeSepiero(m): 12:14pm On Nov 11, 2018 |
Computergeek,
Intelligence often varies inversely with religiousity and it's agreeable that most atheists are not religious. The decision on whether or not to believe in a God is personal one and often tells a thing or two about ones capacity of independent and critical thought.
NwaAmaikpe, You were driving at a point until you let your emotions overtake your argument as you bring in paradoxical statements and assumptions about 'most' atheists when perhaps you haven't personally met a number of atheists significant enough to class as 'most'.
People invest energy in what they believe and it works for them. Traditionalism works for some traditionalists. Christianity works for some Christians. Islam works for some Muslims.Humanism works for some humanists. Masonry works for some Free masons. Buddhaism works for some Buddhists. Occult works for some adherents. These are believe systems with learned/unlearned theists, agnostics, atheists etc.
It's apparent that success goes beyond just a believe and the success of an adherent of one believe system doesn't dismiss other believe systems as useless.
Theism and Atheism are empty positions; nothing special. Without individual effort, you're just another homo sapien. Wherever you stand, think for yourself and seek enlightenment. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Things God Could Have Preserved To Prove The Truth Of The Bible by DeSepiero(m): 9:22pm On Nov 10, 2018 |
LordReed: Here are somethings God could have preserved in pristine condition to prove the Bible is true.
1. The tree of good and evil. 2. The garden of Eden. 3. The sword used to protect the garden of Eden. 4. The ark Noah built. 5. The tower of Babel. 6. The sites of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. 7. The storage devices Joseph used for preserving food for 7 years. 8. The stone tablets God carved and wrote on. 9. The ark of testament. 10. The manna God rained from heaven. 11. The writing on the wall Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin.
None of these things are anywhere to be seen so instead we get so many unsubstantiated tales. These are things that would have been able to be scientifically tested and provided a good basis for accepting the tales of the bible. Here we are empty handed and asked to believe these incredible tales of God's power. I don't agree with this one. |
