Car Talk / How To Prepare Your Vehicle For Travel by deturla: 3:57pm On Oct 25, 2017
If you’re planning a longer drive, it’s best to have your car properly prepared, but anybody can sometimes feel lost about what needs one’s attention. Leaving for a trip with an unreliable car can cause many problems. No one likes to have to deal with car repairs on holiday, and some malfunctions can even cause accidents. You know what they say – better safe than sorry! If you feel at a loss as to what services you need to ask your mechanic for, here is a handy guide.

1. Check the oil and other lubricants

Engine oil is basically the lifeblood of your car. It keeps your engine running by providing the necessary lubrication, and because it gets dirty after some 10 to 15 thousand kilometres, it needs to be changed regularly. Other parts of your car that also use oil lubrication are brakes, transmission, and differential. If you’re not sure about what brand to buy, always choose a reliable manufacturer, like Castrol for guaranteed quality. High-quality oils will prolong the life of your engine by minimizing the wear.

2. Check tires and the spare

A flat tire can land anywhere from “annoying” to straight up “dangerous” on the negative experience scale. Always have your tire repair service check what the optimal pressure is for your tires, measure it with a gauge, and modify as necessary. Most manufacturers have different tire pressure recommendations depending on the load the car will be carrying. Wrong pressure can lead to a blowout, which is definitely not something you want to experience on the open road. Have your tread looked at as well – driving on bald tires is a bad, bad idea. Low-tread tires have a much higher probability of hydroplaning. Besides, bald tires are illegal too and could get you stuck with a big, nasty ticket. Have your mechanic look at the state of your spare, and have all the tools ready in the trunk.

3. Have a thorough inspection

Everyone should have a good, reliable mechanic who isn’t just looking to take the shirt off your back. Because, frankly, most of us don’t care about all the minutiae of how cars work. Have a little diary of what repairs and check-ups they did, and when. Especially pay attention to when they changed your air, oil and A/C filters. All of these are commonly replaced every 10.000 kilometres or so. Also, regularly check your brakes to see if the pads or any other parts need replacing. Even if you have the most thorough mechanic in the world, they might not notice every single glitch, which is why it’s important to turn off the radio every once in a while, and really listen and feel your car. If you notice anything unusual, you can alert your mechanic to the problem and it will be much easier for them to identify and fix it.

Don’t leave stuff for last minute. If you need to have any serious repairs done, get them out of the way a few weeks in advance. That way you will have enough time to notice if there are any related issues. Even if you don’t know much about cars, always keep up to date with your check-ups. By keeping your car in perfect order, you are doing tons for your safety and minimizing the chances of being left stranded by the side of the road. Regular preventative measures will allow you to enjoy your trip without worrying. If you find it hard to keep up with what needs to be done and when, it might be best to work out a schedule with your mechanic.

The hardest visas are really that of U.K and Canada cos you must really have every document meticulously scuti ized unlike U.S that you just have to act up and pray for luck. So U.S visa is cheaper cos anybody can get it if lucky.

How to Pass your USA Embassy Visa Interview – Learn more what to expect when going for an American embassy visa interview and how to prepare for it. The visa interview 85% of the time determines whether your visa application gets accepted or rejected.

The consular expects you, to be honest, stay for the authorized duration and come back after that, they wouldn’t want anyone to live or work in the USA.

People aren’t aware of the basic rules and penalties involved for breaking these rules, if you get a business visa, it doesn’t mean you can go to the U.S to start a business, If you get a 10 year multiple entry visas, doesn’t mean you can stay in the USA for 10 years, 10 years multiple entry visas means you can visit the USA anytime within the next year. The actual stay per visit is determined by the number of days stamped on your passport at the port of entry, which is usually between 3 to 6 months, you can extend your stay for up to 6 months.

Simple TIPS on how to Pass your USA Embassy Visa Interview:

Dress appropriately
Arrive early
Don’t get too Nervous
Great and smile
Be confident in your answers
Be polite and demonstrate respect in your language
Don’t be afraid to say I beg your pardon if you do not understand a question because of the Interviewers accent

Frequently asked questions on how to Pass your USA Embassy Visa Interview:

What would you do if you won jackpot in a Las Vegas casino
What if someone offers you a high paying salary job
What do you do if someone offers you a partnership in his business
What if a beautiful woman/man proposes to you for marriage
The officers at the embassy ask these questions to analyse the applicants, don’t give any answers without thinking, it’s always best to answer honestly if the officer doubts your intention to leave the U.S after your visit, your visa may be rejected, you must also demonstrate that you have enough financial support and you will not become a burden to the USA.

If you give answers like, I will buy properties in the U.S. and live there after winning the jackpot, I will accept the job offer or partnership or I will get married and live with the U.S. citizen, your visa application will be rejected, when you apply for a tourist visa, you are supposed to visit and return to your country.

For every question you answer, you must be prepared to provide supporting documents if needed, If consular officer asks about your ties to your home country, you should state reasons why you would return to your country, If your answer is ‘’my wife and children are in Nigeria’’or “I’m the CEO of my business” or maybe you’re holding an important role in the company you are currently working, you should be prepared to show proof of this to strengthen your answer.

If you’re not comfortable speaking English, you can request for a consul who can converse in your preferred dialect

The purpose of your tour should be vacationing, visiting family, friends or relatives or any allowed activities, Always respond with correct answers, all the details you submitted in your application form is stored in their database and they can look it up to verify your answers at any point in time, If your application has been previously rejected, you can’t change details the next time you go for an interview, know all the answers to the questions on your visa application form by heart.

Your appearance should show who you are, if you’re a business executive, you should look like one, if you are a student, dress up like a student, your body language should carry friendliness and that you know exactly why you are there and that you’re serious about your goal. Don’t fidget or show unnecessary body movements.

The consular officer doesn’t really need to look at your documents, they have vast experience and have seen or processed so many applications many times they can figure out your intentions just by looking at you or by hearing you speak, they experienced in different fields and can ask you technical questions about what you do, you will be surprised to know about things they might know or be experienced in, the consular officer can be an expert in what you do.

Don’t give away unnecessary information voluntarily if it’s not being asked, In some cases, applicants try to be smart and give more than what is asked, this may trigger additional related questions which many not work in your favour, make sure you keep your communication brief and to the point.

In cases where you are applying as a group or even family, be prepared for situations where the consular officer will decide to give one or two out of the group visa, Ideally the group or family would like to travel together, if they decide to give one person, you should take it as it’s better than having the group’s visa rejected, this way it will be easier to apply again next time.

Finally, if you get the visa, go through the information on your visa carefully, make sure there are no typographical errors in the name, passport number, date of birth etc. and make sure everything is clear as these errors might get you returned at the port of entry. You can get cheap flight tickets to the USA at Travelstart which is Africa’s number one online travel agency.

If you don’t get the visa, it’s not the end of the world, you can always apply again and use your previous experience to ace the interview next time.

The Ibeshe Community can be said to be an Island on its own. Depending practically on themselves to fashion out ways to enjoy the means to sustenance and livelihood. In a community where there is obvious lack of basic social amenities like a proper health centre and access roads, it can be said that residents of the community struggle for everything that was expected to be provided by the Lagos state government.

If the governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode were to visit this community which houses the amazing Ibeshe Island, then he would see the problems of the community dwellers and the amazing potentials this island holds.

I was joined by another Nairalander;Ednut1 to do a documentary of the community on the 20th of September 2017 to capture the events and timelines and what I have below for you is pitiable as well as fascinating.

The Ibeshe community, if nurtured properly by the Lagos State Government could birth an amazing location for solving the rising congestion within the Lagos metropolis, albeit this is only if the pitiable plights of the residents and indigenes are properly looked into and lasting solutions provided to the community.

A community with the following potentials must definitely not be overlooked by the Lagos State government.

Problems the community is currently facing:

1. The large river surrounding the community has potentials for different types of aquatic life that could be a means of revenue generation to the State.

2. The Ibeshe community has an amazing beach which serves as a perfect tourist destination for both locals and foreigners.

This will be a massive income generation for the State government, if they are on the lookout for alternative revenue generation, provided all challenges are looked into and effective solutions provided. Challenges like:

1. Lack of electricity, challenges with the PHCN district officers supervising electricity in the community.

2. Lack of a proper health center - In a ward that has over nine densely populated settlements in the state; Ibeshe, Ibeshe-Beach, Ibasa, Imore, Ilashe, Okun -Ilashe, Igbo-osun, Igbo-Eseyere and Okun-Ilashe and other riverine communities within that axis have to struggle with just one basic health centre.

3. Insecurity challenges the community faces ( this community could be a bane for kidnappers if proper security measures are not put in place by the Lagos State government).

4. With the increasing population due to child birth and migration, a community that has just one primary and secondary school will need more so that residents of the Ibeshe community and those in the upper land would use for their wards education.

The documentary video and picture will show all that is needed. Enough to get the Lagos State government to action!

The Ibeshe community is a gold mine, and a community which seemed to have been forgotten by the Lagos State government.

Enjoy:

Weeps! Bobrisky has 40 million in his account!? WoW! Love him or hate him, this guy has gone on Instagram again to claim he has 40 million in his account.

Ask me what Bobrisky does again?

He is just a bleaching and cream expert and he has this time gone on social media to say despite the hate reactions and comments he gets on social media, he is not deterred to hold a life for himself.

He even went ahead to blast haters to remind them of his history. It definitely wasn’t easy getting where he is today.

In his recent Instagram post, he stated that his hustle started when he was 16 years ( which was apparently 9 years ago, since he is 25 now) and he can say with all pride that he has N40 million in his account.

He shared the before and after wealth photo in the post he put up which read;

“I know some of u won’t understand wat is called “SUFFERING” cos at 25yrs some of u still collect feeding money from ur parent and still live in their house . (sic)

I left my dad house when am 16yrs to go hustle and face life. I suffer so hard to become who I am today, not only by bleaching my skin but can boast of 40million in two of my active banks am sure my account officer is seeing dis. And am still hustling no going back. If u like insult me from now till tomorrow am not bothered. Wat bothered me most is how to become billionaire before am 30yrs. Some of u say am gay to be dis rich oga if it is dat easy carry ur own ass too let them insert some d**k. Bye ” (sic)

Well, for those hating on Bobrisky, do you have N40 million in your account?

While I would not want to belong to the category of those hating or loving. Whatever his art and craft is, or his business strategy infact, if what he claims is true, then, he is seriously making it, and it’s working for him.

As a Lagos boy whey no dey carry last. Let me go and double my hustle abeg.

What do you say?

I laugh when I see some articles teaching you how to make wealth, most Nigerians are greedy by nature, how many success stories actually tell you the source of their capital, or how they actually made it?

this attitude up there is the reason we don't want each other to progress, where I learn to sew, under 2months I could make a simple gown or skirt, the lady teaching me started acting funny cos I was catching up too fast, so anytime she wanted to cut she would send me on meaningless errands, me I'm humble by nature so I didn't mind those errands, I started learning on YouTube, she was amazed how I could sew what she didn't teach me, these days we watch the YouTube together sef looool.

I am sure these ladies that were arrested are her source of income, they are the best she's got that's why she doesn't wanna let them go but she's going about it the wrong way, a little diplomacy and kindness goes a very long way

Science/Technology / 12 Things You Should Know About S Chandrasekhar On Google Doodle by deturla: 1:39pm On Oct 19, 2017
Just in case you see a picture on your google doodle, Please note that today, Google celebrates an amazing physicist by using him on the Google Doodle.

Have you ever though about how black holes came about? Or how the stars in the sky may eventually go out of existence. The essence of Google celebrating this great science prodigy today all but lies in the provision of answers to the question posed above. This amazing scientist contributed to the evolution of science and brought about the evolution of celestial bodies.

Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar in 1983 became the first every astrophysicist to win the coveted Nobel Price in Physics. Termed a “child prodigy” by Google, S. Chandrasekhar has already published his first paper and struck up with the theory of star evolution before he was 30. At the age of 34 S. Chandrasekhar was elected into the prestigious Royal Society of London.

Responsible for almost all we know about star evolution, S. Chandrasekhar assisted the universe in understanding the theory of star evolution and the knowledge of the nature of the universe. His honours were just as astronomical as he was, from the Draper Medal of the US National Academy of Science, National Medal of Science, to the gold medal of Royal Astronomical Society, this was an amazing physicist whose equations and theories won Nobel Prize in Physics 50 years later.

S. Chandrasekhar contributed immensely in our understanding of the galaxy; star and the way they evolved: The Chandrasekhar limit which explains the mass of the start as lighter than 1.4 times of the sun, and collapsed into a dense stage known as “the white dwarf”. He also explains that when the star is heavier then 1.4, it can continue to condense and collapse resulting into a black hole or what is known as supernova evolution.

It is an amazing theory by such a brilliant physicist and the whole of the world celebrates a unique man whose theories over the universe transverse the depth of reasoning and opens up physics on a different level entirely. Modern astronomy and recent space research can all be said to get the motivation for their ambitious and queer research through the amazing discovery made by S. Chandrasekhar.

Here are 12 things you should know about S. Chandrasekhar:

1. Birth

He was born in Lahora (which was part of the British empire) on the 19th October 1910 (which means we are celebrating his 107th post humous birthday today. He was the first son and third offspring in a family of 12 (where 4 boys and 6 girls where given birth to). His father, Subrahmanya Ayyar Chandrasekhar was a Government officer in the Indian Audits and Accounts unit, before he became the Deputy Auditor General of the Railway Commission. His mother, Sita, an intelligent woman as well was clearly devoted to making sure her children became important in life.

2. Understanding of the stars evolution

S. Chandrasekhar made us understand the existence of black hole. He stated in this theory that stars with greater mass than the sun will continue to shrink beyond the white dwarf status, the shrinking or contraction is what brings about SUPERNOVAS. The continued shrinking below the white dwarf status is what brings about what we all know today as black hole in the galaxy system.

3. His first theory on Star evolution was published before he was 20

Just 14 years before he became elected into the Royal Society of London, S. Chandrasekhar has already published his theory on stars. Brilliant!

4. He became a leading light for astrophysicists all over the world

This, he was able to achieve by becoming the first astrophysicist to win a Nobel Prize. He received this award alongside William A Fowler, an American Nuclear physicist, for his work on Chandrasekhar limit in 1983.

5. He explained that not all stars are created equal

In his Chandrasekhar limit theory, S. Chandrasekhar explained in his discovery that stars don’t discontinue their contraction later in their galaxial life. The stars with a mass of 1.4 times that of the sun will continue to shrink. This made us understand more on the creation of neutron stars and what leads to Supernova explosions.

6. He was not the only one who won a Nobel prize in his family

With a family of high intellectual standards, S. Chandrasekhar’s uncle, Sir CV Raman was awarded a Nobel prize in 1930 “for his project on the scattering of light and for the discovery of the effect named after him.” It was the same year that young Chandrasekhar completed his degree in Physics at the Presidency College in India. Also, the same year that S. Chandrasekhar published his paper on evolution of stars.

7. He won a scholarship into the University of Cambridge

His first research paper ‘The Compton Scattering and the New Statistics” which he wrote in 1929 won him a scholarship into the prestigious University of Cambridge. Also, he was given admission into the respected Born’s Institute in Germany; An Institute that has admitted a lot of accomplished physicists like Heisenberg, Niels Bohr. Only the smartest of all are admitted into the Born’s Institute in Gottingen, Germany.

8. He also worked on Maths and not physics alone.

He improved on the existing theories of mathematics earlier developed by Sir Isaac Newton. S. Chandrasekhar used modern day Calculus to explain Sir Isaac Newton’s ‘Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica’.

9. He became a professor at the age of 26

After moving to America in 1937, S. Chandrasekhar became a professor at the University of Chicago at the age of 26. Amazing feat by a brilliant young man.

10. He passed away on August 21 1995

At the age of 84, S. Chandrasekhar died of heart attack, a death that was considered sudden. His final work, Newton’s Principia for the Common Reader was published just a few months before his death.

11. The physicist was childless

In 1936, S. Chandrasekhar married his wife, Lalitha Doraiswamy in Madras, India where he acknowledged her support in his biography. His marriage to Lalitha did not produce any child.

12. Lalitha lived longer

His wife who was also a scientist live till the age of 102 in 2013.

Things happen for a reason..

Sometimes, the person u thought u wanna spend the rest of ur life will suddenly change...

People don't suddenly change.

Something causes the change.

I have seen more relationships that ended today causing heartbreak, pain and sadness, that it leaves me with the question; does falling in love have a dark side?

Isn’t love meant to be beautiful, amazing and special? How come it really gets to a point where after dating a guy/ babe for a couple of years, the next statement you hear is:

We were never meant to be
He was the worst thing to ever happen to me
I regret ever meeting her….

Really?

Did the relationship ever started this way? No!

Let’s start with the process of LOVING ANOTHER! When a relationship is about to start, you will hear various love words…

You are God’s gift of life to me
You are the best thing that ever happened
I can’t live without you
You came into my life at a point when no one else will, you filled the vacuum in my life and you truly are the best gift in this world to me.
I will love you forever, no matter the situations that comes between us, I will always LOVE you

This is caused by what I term to be the excitement that comes with just starting a relationship. The euphoria of having the wonderful feeling of attachment. The joy of engaging in rituals such as kissing, calling, exchanging texts, going on dates and discussing sensitive issues. You feel so great and special and then begin to see that your whole life should revolve around that one person.

This is indeed the first dark side of falling in LOVE. When you being to think, talk and stay happy within that ONE PERSON, and shutting everyone else out!

Days rolls by, months pass, and the relationship continues. The initial excitement shimmers down (which is expected anyway). When the relationship started, both lovers were just discovering a lot about themselves, therefore it generates this kind of excitement that settles as soon as the lovers begin to get familiar with themselves. Then these exciting activities in the relationship slows down.

The calls, texts, chats, short dates, hanging out reduces and everyone gets busy. Then BOOM! The spark that excites you in the relationship is GONE! With the wind!

What happens next?

The humans in us begin to see that the partner has changed, and he/ she does not feel the same about you anymore. This makes the lover feel sad, insecure and confused, and then you feel that the relationship should grow based on the initial excitement that elicited from the start, a theory that will eventually lead to arguments, fights, disagreement because you both are wondering what went wrong with no end to these ‘relationship slow-down’ in sight.

That is indeed another dark side of falling in love. When the relationship slows down and insecurity and sadness sets in, based on too much expectations from a love partner.

And when the day of reckoning comes, after fighting as usual, one party wants out, and then the relationship breaks up. Everything is over. One or both parties are hurt because they have concluded within themselves that ‘they are not really compatible’ with each other.

After break up, what is NEXT? Moving on right? That is when you now begin to see the true emotional and psychological selves of lovers who just broke up their relationships. They find it so difficult to move on, which should not be the case in a proper love relationship. The party begins to feel self-pity, self-blame, depression and lack of confidence.

You begin to look for ways to get back to your best again. This may seem a bit difficult because of your past relationship and how much you really were in LOVE ‘or NOT’.

For the few lucky ones, they get to move on quickly but for the not so lucky, and super-emotional ones, they are still locked within their sadness, trying so hard to move on to no avail.

…And this forms the third dark part of falling in LOVE.

Relationships are meant to be good, amazing and enthralling if everything works out perfectly with both parties knowing what part to play as time goes on. It is fine if you all have the ‘initial gra gra’ and excitement from finding your prince or princess charming and reveling in the flutter caused by the feeling of love, but you have to be careful to deal when the LOVE game is strong because it comes with a lot of dark sides, that if not handled properly, it may lead to a downfall spiraling from a sky scraper like the speed of light.

When you lower all your guards down for your lover, to the point that it makes you feel so vulnerable, you need to take note that your relationship will soon have a dark side because you have confided so much in your partner even more than your parents. This is indeed a warning sign that you could be left in the lurch when things go wrong with no one to talk to. Simply because you have opened up too much to your PARTNER!

You lay all your life on the party, you seek for gratification, motivation and respect from your lover, instead of focusing on your self esteem and self respect. A lover respects his/ her lover who is self-confident and has a whole lot of self esteem, enough to motivate. That’s the way it should be. The moment you begin to seek for consent from the other party instead of finding consent within yourself, your are tending towards the dark side of falling in love.

When you only fall in love with your PARTNER and not HOW YOUR PARTNER makes you feel. You seem to agree to almost anything he/ she says without having a voice of your own, and seeking to think things through before consent, then you are moving towards the dark side of falling in love.

You build your entire life around your LOVER. You don’t even have plans about yourself, telling yourself psychologically that where he/ she goes, then you go. Not adding any value. All you want is the feeling of falling in love and basking in that euphoria, and nothing else. Then you are gradually shifting towards the dark side of falling in LOVE.

When you are controlled 90% by your lover, anything he/ she tells you to say or do, YOU SAY and DO. You don’t even have a mind of your own. You don’t seem to have second judgement, believing so much on the judgement of of your LOVER, then your guess is as good as mine. You are moving slowly and gradually on that dark alley!

When you break all form of friendship with others just because you are in LOVE with some GUY/ LADY that you are not even married too. Hmmmn! Warning Bells, my dear, you will be shocked at how depressed you will be when the relationship breaks up.
Truth is falling in love is fine and great, but has a dark side when you begin to lose yourself in love; your identity, the real you is really gone. When you are too vulnerable and when you begin to give up everything because you think you are in LOVE.

Falling in LOVE indeed has a dark side! What do you think?

Kobicove:
The church's view on what 2 consenting adults do in the bedroom is irrelevant so long as no crime is being committed undecided

But you know the church views sometimes inform of our thoughts, convictions and submissions!?
