Just "microwave" it and serve with a cold, clay cup of palm wine.

You'll most likely BUY A.G. Leventis instead of AFRIPRUD tomorrow morning on iTrade!

Agbalowomeri: Bros I no be man o, I be ur boy o. And I am a newbie, joined this forum only recently and actually na woman I follow come. Anyway, she has abandoned me.

Back to the question sir, if I am to invest 2m in stock market, I should not expect less than 300k dividend. I am a greedy person o. With my little experience now, I target stocks that can give me over 10% dividend with a measure of high probability. And I try to run away from stocks with ROE of less than 20% because i have learnt that ROE determines the price elasticity of stocks. I also run away from stocks that is demonstrating consistently falling ROE; there is no point running after 10% dividend only for the value of ur holding to be falling. Thirdly, I do not put my money in stocks showing no growth because that is the only way that I can convince myself that it will not pay less dividend that the previous year.

Based on the above epistle, the only coy holding my attention right now is Afriprud. Ubcap also falls in that category but somehow, my instinct is not comfortable with the coy.

Anyway, "who are mine"?

NB: I also do not believe in diversification. Don't try this at home o
I remember the argument I had with KOD of SMN on this UBA Capital. Should only be a matter of time now until the shiitbag is unveiled.

Dude if you're serious about Mercy, relocate to Anambra state naa?

mercylicious: QATARI BANK ACQUIRES 12.5 % stakw in ecobank..... source trw - stoxkbrockers wordpress.
The Public Investment Corporation of South Africa is the largest shareholder in Ecobank. Now these Gulf dudes have become the second largest. I hope these big guys don't paralyze crucial decision-making processes at ETI.

That's probably going to be biggest challenge going forward.

passwelle: I am just playing devils advocate here. As in all transactions on the NSE there is money to be made.
Sir, any idea if AMCON had any representation at the meeting? Why doesnt AMCON just sell the 13% they own in the company to TCGL at that 75k instead of further dilution of the OS? Just wondering why the folks who sold the 56m plus shares today are all not aware of this. The last breakdown of shareholding in the company puts the number of shareholders at about 5877, with 4,305 of these shareholders owning just 52.8m shares. Also, did Meristem disclose that they own more than 47m shares in this company when they published that valuation? Whose approval is required now after the meeting?
I hope time proves me wrong, on this FTN cocoa thing though.
Hmmm. These are serious considerations.

Bruv I think what you mean by the bolded is that more than 56m shares EXCHANGED HANDS, not sold right?

And all 100% legit.
If the stalwarts on the board of ACA are getting in bed with Bob Diamond, then honestly interesting times are here.

omaojo1: We don't need Draghi to tell us he just started a QE before we know it.

Plus the submission that Africa is going to benefit is academic and lacks practical substance. The stoppage of QE, not the beginning of it, is what causes panic in frontier and emerging markets.

The events that activated the risk on mode in global equities market in 2012 are; the announcement of QE infinity by the Fed in September 2012, Mario Draghi's 'the ECB will do whatever it takes' comment in July 2012, and the victory of Abe, a pro QE leader in the Japnese election of Dec 2012. Confidence returned to the major economies and hence, the world.

The benefit to us for now is that the Euro zone will not cause any panic in the global equities market that will spiral in to another crash. Think confidence in the market.
I have 'liked' your comment my oga, not because it stresses my opinions but because every time we think the future of the financial markets has become clear, linear and completely figured out, reality upsets our expectations, providing contrarians opportunities for unusual profits.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Dexterax(m): 11:09am On Sep 05, 2014
Since the last financial crisis, the number of African-focused funds (many domiciled in Africa too), PE and the like, have increased geometrically. This will be the major source of inflows I guess.

Charlesnerd: Growth has really slowed in Europe.America is estimated to grow at about 4.2% in 2014 while Nigeria's projection stands at 6.2% -6.77%.

It makes more sense to invest interest free "hot money" in Nigeria or rapidly growing economies, than elsewhere.
My oga, I think you underestimate the risks to our dear economy, which I'd assume the foreign investors won't overlook.

A major one is exchange rate risk. On the upside, exchange rate risks contributed substantially to Nestlé Nigeria's reported earnings for FY 2012. Imagine what's possible on the downside.

The growth rate of a country (which, for starters, is a complex population statistically) is too simplistic a metric to be used to determine whether money should go there or not really. A lot of investors are still reeling from their Chinese adventures...

nitrogen: These guys don't care about the risk, check out distressed debt investing and others, case of NML (Elloit Capital), Aurelius Capital Management and others vs Argentina comes to mind.
The international speculators are currently biting their fingers from a trustee-issuer case involving sovereign debts that were supposed to be redeemed even during Argentina's default in 2001. George Soros, my oga, is even caught in the mix.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Dexterax(m): 10:44am On Sep 05, 2014
nitrogen: You need to consider the fact that you will get lower returns in the US, the fact is this HFs, PEs and AM firms will fly to Africa to make good money, more risk, more return.
In spite of the new 2000 point high of the S&P 500?

I guess you're referring to fixed income my oga. There's no doubt that the interest rate differentials favour African markets and Nigeria in particular. But as our country continues to earn most of her debt-service revenue from crude oil sales where commodity prices are printing downwards in the near term, an international investor would even worry about our country's solvency abilities.

Agbalowomeri: Bear no fit near elastic stocks na. So u better buy the ones wey u wan buy. Otherwise while waiting na so boom............... bull don enter. I hope una see QE don commence for EU?
True sir.

But it's unlikely it'll spur significant inflows to sub-saharan markets generally due to the improving economic conditions in the US and the UK. Speculative capital will more likely be deployed in these improving developed markets than shaky African markets going through a thousand and one transitions.

Charlesnerd: Well,ECB cut interest rates and announced a stimulus plan, but not QE in the strict sense of the word.

Just culled below from telegraph.

"Draghi announces programme to buy asset-backed securities (ABS) and covered bonds in Oct, but stays away from conventional QE"
