Nairaland GeneralHow A Nigerian Bank Scams Customers Abroad by dexterinc2003(op):
After a terrible experience with a bank recently,i just had to write this piece,to save other people the stress of screaming 'foul play' if they choose to enter the same predicament.
I recently travelled to australia (far east end of the world),with a mastercard from one of the nigerian banks, with a happy thought that i could make withdrawals with my naira mastercard .fair enough i could make withdrawals ,although just 300aud daily (due to the recent CBN daily limits).
After making about 5 withdrawals totalling the sum of about 1,000 auds last month,i felt good i must say.
Sometime around august 1st,i began to receive bank alerts of reversals on the withdrawals i made,ie.money was returned into my account, and redebitted excessively.
Initially ,i thought it was some fraudster at work, and had to call the bank, only to be told that they were aware of the withdrawals from my account, and stated that that the naira had depreciated since i last withdrew and that the current rate was used to debit my account.
Summary means i withdrew aud at the rate of 165 naira per aud about 3 weeks ago,and transaction was completed,3 weeks later ,bank refunds my account with naira at same rate of 165naira per dollar ,then debit me at over 200 naira per dollar.hence losing an additional 60,000 naira in the process. Now thats just to 1 customer, imagine that being done to a million customershuh
Anyways i really dont blame them,it was because they saw money in the account, the banks name starts with 'U' and ends with 'A.
Nairalanders ,pls beware of the current scam once the ban on foreign withdrawal is lifted.THANK YOU.

Please shed more light on this: an agent want to get me 3 years australia working visa within 14days with offer letter from the company. cleaning job and said the salary is $1700 with free housing, feeding and medical. now i want to know is it possible to get that kind of salary for cleaning job? and is it possible to set 3 years working visa within 14 days? please help ME out
1.presently,you can never get an Australian working visa in 14 days (thats the aim of the point test)except svp sha
2.why would a company sponsor you to come and clean for them (seriously?)
3.free housing, feeding and medicals?? (Even citizens pay, especially your medical bills,if you dont want to die on the waiting list)
4. $1,700 per month is small actually, most jobs pay higher than $100 per day.

Dear All,

Good day,

I just started reading this trend today and i have learnt some valuable lessons from the trend. However, i will appreciate further guidance that will assist in the completion of my application for Australian Permanent Residency permit.

I have checked the Online Points Test for Skilled Migration and below is the response i got from the tool.

"Skilled Migration Points Test Results
Your score is: 60

As the pass mark for Skilled - Independent Subclass 189 is 60, you would appear to meet the criteria for this type of visa.

I am married with 2 kids.
I am a chartered accountant (ICAN). I have a Bsc certificate in banking and Finance.
I have worked for over 6 years (5 years in Procurement and over 1 year in Internal Audit(current function)).
I have done my IELTS and the results are:
L-7.5
R-7.5
S-7.5
W-7.0.
Kindly advise on the next line of action and any other valuable contribution(s) will be highly appreciated.

Please assist.
You forgot to mention your age range,25 to 32 yrs gives 30 points, above 32yrs gives you 25 points....But then you have a really impressive CV i must confess.
i believe the next line of action should be checking if your occupation is still on the skilled list ,then submit your expression of interest(if you made the 60 points) before the visa application proper.
As for being married with 2 kids...hmmmm!!! E no dey easy initially oh cos Australia is freaking expensive for newcomers, but there is always a way out.
Here is a list of things that makes it easier to adapt initially
1.come with a lot of money(accommodation and daycare for your kids no be beans)
2.or if you dont have that, come alone initially(which is really hard cos of your family)
3.i reckon you should start applying for jobs from nigeria(after you have your PR,before landing in Oz),except you wanna do odd jobs till you get a job(very competitive profession).
4.Pray all goes well.
Cheers...

Things no one would tell you about new south wales;

1.so many asians here...about 80 percent if im not exaggerating, chinese tops the list.

2.it gets dark by 5pm...like 8pm in naija kind of dark.

3.once in a while,in a bus,you will see a white granny staring at you like she just saw kinta kunte.. lol

4.It is absolutely possible to live a lonely life, with no friends like a psycho.. grin

5.you will probably meet not more than 5 blacks in your first week.

6.Chinese generally dont associate much with other races,so dont feel bad,for you are not alone.

7.you will probably need some time to get back your normal sleep cycle, sleeping during the day and late night wakefulness will eventually balance out.

8.nkechi back at home probably thinks so much more of you now,but then, you are still the same person.

9.most bills are paid bi-weekly,eg rent, gym bills etc

10.cheap things like ordinary keyholders cost about $13 and a something like a printer+scanner=$35....imagine

11.you might actually not wanna go back home... grin grin

still luving it here..

I actually used the agent to secure my admission, and they were also helpful as they helped me fill my visa forms and gave me all the necessary info for a successful outcome.

hello bro. I wanna move to Aussie with my family via student visa (undergraduate) my wife is 27,she will be the applicant cos i work with federal govt. she will write ielts soon. I wanna ask our chances of migration. also I hope we will not need any bank statement? also which cheap school can she apply?thanks
I dont know much about the undergraduate route, but i will advice she continues with the ielts, although i later found out that not all schools demand for an ielts, only problem is that if you are looking for a school without the ielts requirement, you will narrow your school options greatly.
At 27,im sure she has a first degree and you also, with some job experience, why not try the 189 route?i think it will be a better option(although it takes longer) ,as you can also decide to study or work when you get there.
You forgot to mention what course she wants to study,as some schools have advantages over others in certain courses.

PS:your chances of migration can only be determined by the point test, schools listed under svp dont require bank statements, and finally australian schools are not cheap bro.

Sorry...I just have a particular aversion to rude people.
You obviously have some serious issue maam,i know i cant impress every1 but yours is just a funny case, your profile history rates you as a reasonable person, but your persistence on not letting it go even when every1 has, shows there is more to your 'niceness' charade.
If you have a problem with forgiving ppl that 'offended' you,let it be personal, quote me instead like an elite would and stop hiding behind other ppl's comment...i still believe there is a reasonable aspect tucked somewhere in your personality,so ease up,and live and lets live, there is only 1 God,and its not you...kilode!!!

Sometimes we are too busy to check out information by ourselves and then depend on others to do it for us.

Sincerely, what MARA agents are selling is information and it is very costly. And the reason why you get adequate information before applying for PR in particular is to avoid being denied visa. I was once a victim of this. I could not check information online by myself even when it was available online. It costed me about 800AUD plus for Ernst & Young to check my eligibility criteria for PR. And ever since then, I made up my mind to help as many people with information. At least, I have assisted 5 people with information on Australia PR immigration up to PR grants and others are in the pipeline.

People should always appreciate this and not to discourage others that are willing to help.

NNBB2012:
A nurse once posted it on this forum and that is the process generally. I have also modified the process. Kindly read and follow it accordingly.

Below is the guideline to work here as a Nurse.

To work here as a registered nurse you need to apply to AHPRA with your overseas trained application form.. the form link is below

http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/documents/default.aspx?record=WD11%2f5938&dbid=AP&chksum=Vu5B6IVSxjQ2tDhZpamU2Q%3d%3d

You need to sit for either IELTS academics (7,7,7,7) or the OET exam etc. before applying...now for nurses or health practitioners, OET is the easiest exam to write for medical practitioners. It is in fact the best, you write it once and you are sure of getting it right. Immigration department accepts it for PR purposes.

You need to write the exam before applying. Once you submit the result, they will ask the nurses board in the country where you are registered to verify that you are registered with them; the nurses board in Nigeria or wherever you registered will send the verification directly to AHPRA. When AHPRA gets it, they will send you an email with a list of universities where you can do a bridging course in Australia for 3-6 months or 1 year conversion course (which people like to do cos they can work whilst doing the conversion and pay their fees unlike the bridging course that they can't work. BUT THEN AHPRA WILL TELL HIM WHICH ONE TO GO FOR) UNIVERSITY TRAINED I THINK HE YOU BE ASKED TO DO THE 3 MONTHS COURSE. PEOPLE WHO DO THE 1 YEAR CONVERSION COURSE ARE THOSE WHO ARE HOSPITAL TRAINED REGISTERED NURSES WITH A DIPLOMA CERTIFICATE. SO AFTER THE CONVERSION THE SCHOOL GIVES THEM A BACHELOR'S CERTIFICATE AND CANCELS DIPLOMA(which is good cos then you have a bachelor degree not diploma). After the bridging course you will get your registration with AHPRA as a nurse.

General Process of Australia immigration:

1 Check the SOL/CSOL:
• 2 Calculate Points
• 3 Skills Assessment:
• 4 Proof of English Language ability:
• 5 Work Experience:
• 6 State Sponsorship:
• 7 Family Sponsorship:
• 8 Submitting an Expression of Interest:
• 9 Visa Types:
• 10 Lodging Application:
• 11 After Lodging:
• 13 The Waiting:
• 14 The Decision:
I like the way you explained.
Please can someone kindly highlight how Nigerian doctors can get into the Australian system.

P.S: Dont just come here and say,'u should go and write the AMC exams'....Pls give a step by step guide.thanks

Hello Forumites, i just recently joined. I am interested in Masters in Public health in Australia.

I am a Dr here in Nigeria and My wife holds a nursing Degree.

I recently Started my Residency training (pediatrics). But the strike and unpredictable things here is discouraging. '

I really need Advise from Members here. I am thinking of immigrating to Australia. I want to apply for a Masters in Public health for me to be able to immigrate. the target is practicing in Australia. But since i haven't written qualifying exams yet, i am thinking the quickest (or easiest) way to go is by a masters degree

what should i do? take up a masters in Public health? or go for something similar

mrnilobrawn, bossladyMo et al, please advise
Seems your case looks familiar,it all depends on your plans, how early do you want to move as masters program in aus resumes twice a year (march/july),which school you want, what is your financial status, the rest should be a piece of cake.
Let me just list the steps, since im assuming you are a busy person.
1.register with an agent that can help you with admission (pfl, bcie etc),many ppl dont like the fact that they have to pay,but i think its worth it.a school under svp MUST be chosen.
2.once you get the admission, pay part of ur tuition fees to get a CoE.
3.once your CoE is out,do your medicals ,notarise your documents, get immunised ,pay for your health cover (for you and your wife)and go apply for the visa...573svp.
4 wait till visa is granted....book tickets and travel with your wife, depending on what you filled on your visa forms.
5.dont forget to use IOM for your travel ticket booking.
6.share your story on this forum

KEY
CoE =confirmation of enrollment
Svp =streamlined visa processing
IOM =International organisation for migration
PFL =preparation for life
BCIE =check google....lol

Hi Dexterinc2003,
i'm sure you're almost done packing your bags by now, no? wink
I am now looking at going in for MPH hoping to commence feb 2016, i have checked all the criteria and they are pretty straightforward. I however have a quick question:
How did you submit your Transcript?
Did you have your school forward it directly to Australia or did you personally collect it from the school and then mail/scan it to Aus by yourself?

I wish you a safe trip in advance
Thanks bruva.
Yes,i collected mine personally from my school, different schools have different policies,if they insist they will not give it to you, give them your own mail address, when you receive the mail, scan in pdf and send to your school in aus, will advise you to get an agent,(because most doctors are busy) ,if you happen to choose unsw, then the merrier over there.lol.cheers

Beautiful news coming around. Congrats y'all, and may God favour you all like bossladymo.
Its been four weeks (from tomorrow will be fifth) I applied to four different schools in Australia. Till now, no offer, no news from my agent. I want to know from the experienced ones, do you think I can still make it for July intake, assuming offer eventually comes in this week, considering the time from when I will pay my tuition, get COE, apply for visa etc, and expect a grant? I'm asking because I want to know if its time to finally zero my mind and start working for feb intake. Thanks guys.

P.S. I used agent because most schools now make the agent thing mandatory, and also I don't have much SOA to show, am self sponsored.
Theoretically,it is possible.
Practically,i doubt how possible.
I will advise you to continue, and if it eventually does not work out, then you defer your admission till february .
but if it does workout, you get to save yourself d torment of waiting for another 6 months.
but either ways,i know you will be fine.cheers
