Car TalkRe: Police Took 80,000 From Me Yesterday, Because Of Absent This Paper. by Deypray: 5:51pm On Jul 04, 2025
Police don ask you for engine number before?
If your engine number doesn't reflect on your car particulars. Hehe.

One had to use chalk to clear where my engine number is on my engine one day. I shock. Cos I don't even know there was a number there. They are mostly those rogue policemen on the expressway. One useless hausa policeman. I can't forget that experience. Parted with 10k that night.
Car TalkRe: Police Took 80,000 From Me Yesterday, Because Of Absent This Paper. by Deypray: 5:35pm On Jul 04, 2025
What if they asked you for the car particulars?

This happened to me while traveling to Ile-ife last year. There are more than 10 Police checking points on that route due to the bad roads.

After buying my car, I didn't do change of ownership. So, after asking for my licence etc. Everything fine. They asked for car documents. They saw that the name was different from from drivers licence. So, they asked for change of ownership. I couldn't provide it.

They entered my car, we drove to a POS and I gave them 30k after much talk cos I was late to where I was going. They later adviced me to have someone ready to always call as the owner of the vehicle incase of next time. This person will know my car details. So, when police demand to hear from the real owner since you're traveling, the person will be available to help.

I laughed so hard. It's crazy. You can do what you said within lagos or town where there are people. When you're face to face with police on the express. You'll know fighting them isn't worth it.

honor4me:
Always show police only your license, your vehicle papers like yearly renewal and roadworthiness only. Three papers only. They won’t ask you any questions. But once you carry all those agreements or change of ownership you are setting yourself up. I have jeep that I have used for more than 4 years which I bought from another person. All papers are always renewed in the original owners name. Police will check your papers and ask you to go. Thank me later

Nothing but the truth. I don't move pass lekki phase one.

Dailyparrot:
Lekki of recent has become a terrible place to work.

Even on weekends, the traffic there is terrible. The Lekki-Epe Expressway is fast becoming so bad with lots of potholes. I took a friend to Ibeju Lekki for a burial ceremony and I couldn't believe my eyes when we were returning back. The road up to Ajah Underbridge was something else.

When it rains, there's no part of Lekki that's good to go. I just see this Lekki as nothing but a bubble. People paying millions for misery.

If nothing is done on Lekki roads with the way flood is washing away the tars, taking trips to Lekki will soon be likened to taking trips to Ijegun where you will be faced with multiple challenges: mad traffic and extremely bad roads.

Sincerely, I avoid Lekki trips lately. The only benefit is the big money it gives cause its a long trip. Once you end that trip, you either find your way back to the Mainland or face the traffic throughout your movement there.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Deypray: 10:45am On Jun 12, 2023
So I used the passenger mode.

Ordered for a ride to lekki phase 1 from Berger...#7600. I reduced it to 3k. See why the app suggested below.

None of this coys care for the drivers.

BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Deypray: 9:47am On Jun 12, 2023
I think there was a time on this indrive app where you see indrive price and riders price. They removed that option.
This is how you know if the rider is a stupid human being. Indrive don become accomplice in exploiting drivers too.

BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Deypray: 9:03am On Jun 12, 2023
Is the queue at bovas. I think I will stick with them and nnpc...Thanks.
pope191:
Thats my point, the rest are bit filling station, just service center. Don't buy fuel at those outlets again aperture from.Bovas and NNPC (Oando). You can only manage the Nnpc opposite Oando, but their fuel burns faster.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Deypray: 4:15am On Jun 12, 2023
No, ojodu Berger( Ogunnusi road) na even 3 nnpc they the road( only one functions fully), bovas dey while this rainoil is OPP Berger bus stop.

Bought 11k fuel...didn't even move 1km and I saw before my eyes how the fuel dropped like I've taken a 10km journey. I shouted.

I'll take the car to my mech to check again... cause I've not seen that before.

pope191:
Rain wetin? Along that road there's only 2 filling station.

1. Bovas
2. Oando (NNPC)

If you badly need fuel, try the NNPC opposite Oando, but the first pump close to GTb. Else, don't bother buying fuel anywhere along that road.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Deypray: 9:11pm On Jun 11, 2023
Wow. U just confirmed my suspicion about rainoil at ojodu Berger. You hadly see queues in that station because they are a big fraud. I appreciate your response.

GeneralZodd:
1. AC Compromise will u save you more fuel, early morning trips and evening trips, weather is cool. Most riders wouldn't mind to do without the AC, if you can make them understand the situation of things on ground.

2. Buy petrol from reliable and trusted filling stations: Most filling stations petrol dey quick finish. They dispense fuel and air to make your tank look full. Little driving around fuel gauge don turn yellow. You have to observe the ones their fuel last longer and make them your favourite filling stations.

3. Make sure your tyres are properly gauge,

4. Over speeding dey make fuel finish on time. Your speedometer should be at 80 to 100 at most on 3rd mainland. On normal high way like ikorodu road and so on 40 to 60

5. Check your catalyst if still in good condition

6.. Routinely service your fuel injector and car engine. I do mine every end of the month cos it is for commercial purpose. I don't use kilometre driven to service car.

7. Aggressive driving too dey drink fuel
BusinessRe: Upwork Thread (Questions/Help/Advice) by Deypray: 3:06pm On Jun 11, 2023
Hi,
This is is the idea...the payooneer and Upwork account won't be in your name. But in a valid name of someone with real Id.

Your only job is to make transfer from the payooneer to your own payooneer and from there widraw to your dorm acct. You'll have access to both payooneer accts.

Thats how sales of already verified account works.

From Monday, hopefully. I'll be setting up account for Canada and USA again.

JohnPortar:
Okay, I think I am interested in this but I have a question.

What name will the account carry? I understand that you can't withdraw funds into a bank account that does not have the same name as your Upwork account.

I am not sure Payoneer would work either if the names do not match.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Deypray: 3:00pm On Jun 11, 2023
Thanks.

On best app, I like bolt too( the fact that I only get orders within a set range is bae, and no competition for a trip), but the day I used indrive. Order wan kill me.( Competition and the idea of riders still taking advantage of drivers in this period is discouraging.)

What do you suggest about this muscle drinking fuel anyhow pls?

GeneralZodd:
Answers to your questions

The App I use is BOLT: Number 1 ehailing app in Nigeria. I don't use Indrive, Rida and Uber their price is not really so good this subsidy period.

I Started work by 7am. By 12 noon I have made 28k thanks to long trips. I took 1 hour break to eat lunch. Continue by 1pm till 7pm. I have realized 51k.

30% of my trip was island and 70% was mainland.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Deypray: 12:46pm On Jun 10, 2023
Bros...Were this mostly offline trips.??.. I use Camry muscle too(I agree with the fuel consumption too).

15k to make 51k gross is amazing. Which app did this? The moment my tank reach halfway, d way the fuel drops is depressing. I don tire.

All these trips are on the island or mainland?

Did you take any break between trips?

I'll appreciate your response.

GeneralZodd:
15k fuel ( Half tank) to make 51k

There was no fuel left in the tank after sales

2.4 litre engine Toyota Camry muscle. Fuel Consumption is a bit high

I would have made more if I drive Yaris, Corolla or Matrix.

Na Yaris dey enjoy this subsidy season: 22k full tank can gross close to 100k or more

Some of my guys dey use that car

I've been having vivid imagination of how NEC meetings look like...where important decision that make or mar the nation's already fragile structure are made.

If more of these folks are planted in the corridors of power. We will have nothing but chaos, disunity and underdevelopment.

Imagine civil service commission are proposing to increase salary and workers are saying it's not needed.

It's a different thing if you claim you don't have money ATM, reason why you go out during this strike...but NOT that you don't believe/ support in their struggle. Its complete balderdash. People like this needs to change their ways.

The number of drivers outside during this strike action tells a lot about the crop of people doing this business (largely unemployed), invariably it tells you why the e-coys won't budge too. They are feeding fat on the unemployment rate and the weak union ( made possible by the likes we are reffering to here).
Bolt have tried increasing their fare twice... Made possible through this strike action.

I'll keep saying it. We are stronger together.

Crvrider:
At least some of the app companies are beginning to send out emails effecting changes with regards to fares. It may not be much but this goes to show that the ehailing companies are following trends but instead of taking a stance some drivers who I see as cheerleaders would rather insult those who are trying to make their voices heard over issues that will also benefit them.

Now that fare prices are beginning to go up will they now say they don't want the fare increase?

Awusubilai...

You're far gone brother. You've really been bedded by slavery. Someone dey fight for an improved means of livelihood for the same hustle you dey intoxicated with, yet this is your stand. Truly, most Nigerians are in love with their slave masters. No matter the profit you claim to make at the moment. This strike actions aim is to give you a better deal. Don't you get?

But a quick one...Let's assume all these e-coys budge after this strike. You also will gladly share in the spoils. Tueh, e don be for this country.

CheerfulGiver:
Go and park your car. Change your hustle. It's not by force. Stop shouting.

Rida doesn't collect any commission. And Indriver collects 10%.

They are not forcing anyone to drive for them or be on the app. You read their terms and conditions and accepted it.

Nigeria needs more food. Start farming

Or go to Maryland mall, Ikeja where Uber office is and shout for them there

*_WHY APP COMPANIES MUST INCREASE FARE, AND REDUCE COMMISSION BY 50% OR CHARGES 10% FLAT COMMISSION_*

*1. EVERTIME THERE'S AN INCREASE IN OVERHEAD COST ON DRIVERS VIHICLE SUCH AS ( SPAREPART, SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE COST) DRIVER'S EARNING DECLINED.*

*2. EVERTIME THERE IS AN INCREASE IN FUEL PRICE WITHOUT INCREASE IN PRICE, DRIVER WILL LOSS THE OVER HALF OF THE MARGIN.*

*3. EVERYTIME APP COMPANIES INCREASE COMMISSION BASE ON INCREASE IN FUEL AND MAINTENANCE COST, THEIR COMMISSION EARNINGS INCREASE WITHOUT CORRESPONDING INCREASE ON THE THE DRIVERS EARNING*

*4. APP COMPANIES ARE MAKING MORE MONEY IN ALL OF THIS*

*COST ABALYSIS OF DRIVER LOSS AS A RESULT OF FUEL INCREASE BY 300% USING 10,000 NAIRA COST OF FUEL AT 185/LITRE AND 490/ LITRE*

*1ST SCENARO: 10,000 FUEL AT 185/LTR WILL GIVE US 54LITRES OF FUEL WITH ATLEAST EXPECTED KM OF 378KM AT ( 7KM PER 1LITRE)*

*NOTE:*
*IF PER KM FARE IS 100 NAIRA, DRIVER GROSS EARNING WILL BE 100×378KM=37,800 NAIRA AT 185/LTR*

*NET ERNING= GROSS ERNING - 25%COMMISSION = 37,800×0.25(9450)= 28,350*

*NOTE: 28,350 DRIVER'S NET ERNING WILL STILL SUBSTRACT, COST OF FUEL(10000), DATA(1000), AIRTIM(1000) AND CONTINENT COST(1000) AMOUNTING TO 13,000- 28,350= 15,350(PROFIT)*

*2ND SCENARIO: 10,000 FUEL AT 490/LTR WILL GIVE US 20LITRES OF FUEL WITH EXPECTED OF 140KM AT (7KM PER 1LTR*

*NOW THE APP* *COMPANIES RAISE PER KM FARE BY 15%-20% WHICH MEAN PER KM FARE WILL IS BETWEEN 15%-120 NAIRA.*

*THE GROSS EARNING WILL NOW BE 120×140KM =16,800 AT 490/LTR*

*NET EARNING = GROSS - 25%COMMISSION 16,800×0.25(4200)= 12,600*

*NOTE: 12,600 DRIVER'S NET ERNING WILL STILL SUBSTRACT, COST OF FUEL (10,000) DATA(1000), AIRTIM(1000) AND CONTINENT COST(1000) AMOUNTING TO 13,000 _ 12,600=-400 NAIRA LOSS TO DRIVING AS A RESULT OF MINIMUM OF 490/LITR*

*THE DIFFERENCE 15,350 -(-400) =14950 LOSS ON NET EARNINGS OF DRIVERS AND THIS IS ABOUT 103% PROFITS LOST.*

*FOR APP-BASED TRANSPORT WORKERS TO MAKE PROFITS BASE ON THE CURRENT FUEL INCREASE.*

*1. WE WILL REQUIRE BETWEEN 130% -150% INCREASE IN PRICE EVEN AS WE DEMAND FOR 200%*

*2. THE APP COMPANIES WILL HAVE TO REDUCE COMMISSION BY 50% OR CHARGE 10% COMMISSION FLAT.*

*3. THE UNION WILL HAVE TO SITDOWN IN A ROUND TABLE WITH APP COMPANIES TO DISCUSS THE APPROPRIATE AND COMMENSURATE FARE AND COMMISSION FOR OUR SERVICE, AT THESAME TIME CONDITION OF SERVICE.*

*4. GOVERNMENT MUST PROVIDES PALLIATIVES FOR APP-BASED TRANSPORT WORKERS AND REGULATE OUR INDUSTRY.*

*WE CAN NOT CONTINUE LIKE THIS ELSE THINGS WILL GET OUT OF HAND BY THE TIME OUR CAR BEGINS TO BREAKDOWN AND WILL NEED TO PAY FAMILY BILL AND ATTEND TO OUR HEALTH ISSUE*

*SOLIDARITY FOREVER*

*GREAT AUATWON........UNITED WE ARE STRONGER.*

Bros, do you think this strike is affecting bolt in anyway?

I didn't know of the strike yesterday, until one of the association members ordered a ride. We met and he cancelled it before starting the ride. His aim was to order as many rides on bolt that day( I was 25th) and later cancel and reprove or educate drivers on the importance of total compliance. we later discussed on how this strike should be followed through to the end. He added me to their group. I felt it's better to just call it a day and join the strike action.(done 2 trips before)

In this Lagos, there should be more than 10k drivers....The association claims to have 3k members in their database. What's the way forward. A more practicable way.
