Gentolany:
stop reading song of solomon
Haba Gentolany na God put am inside Bible nah.

The objective lesson of Songs of Solomon is how those courting can be faithful to each other despise pressures from a third party. Remember that the king took the shepherd to his palace but still her heart was always beating for the shepherd and she never fell for the king. Moral lesson: be faithful to one person and stop accepting gifts that might make you a prey one day.

Nice contributions from:

et al that I can't mention. Those on this topic (90%) have displayed high level of maturity and comments here show that we are all against rape which is a good sign (regardless of the root cause). But I shudder at the idea of molesting toddlers? angry cry embarassed I simply refuse to see the reason or excitement behind such a dastardly act.

Let's take the word to the streets for those that don't have access to the like most of do. And lastly let's help our sisters HEAL. It's really a burden for them to bear.

Shalom.

I noticed most guys that tackled this issue objectively are nigerians who are based abroad. Those ones living in a sane climate, away from the Zoo...
Haba sis ( EggovinMma ),

Are you saying ALL men living in Nigeria are not objective? I don't really think so. We all know how you feel about the experience you had. But then that someone doesn't have the funds to travel outside Nigeria doesn't make him less sensible. We need to give kudos to our brothers living in Nigeria too. I've really seen gentlemen among them. It's actually not proper to generalise. I sympathize with you on the trauma. Shalom.

I never want to comment before... And another is when you dress provocatively to. An innocent guy house. But the real solution to those thing lies in ladies hand not we guys... I think I make a point I will wElcome critics from anybody thanks.
Hi lexisjay your point is okay too. But have you also tried to look at the issue from another angle. The 2, 3 and 4 year-olds molested by some men, do they dress provocatively also? I pointed this to the OP and she got the drift while also mentioning that some women are at fault too.

About you not commenting, bros you have too. I was like that too, watching from the sidelines (for quite some time) on most debates on NL and the way adults and younger ones on the forum throw banter and insults at each other but I then asked myself some pertinent questions.

What if I was directly affected on some of the issues?
Will I accept that the issue doesn't affect me and move on?

Alright

Chai some mothers can disappoint. I trust mama yetseyi but since you heared you should have roughened up the boys a bit. Why would a mother even ignore that.
Haba yetseyi. Roughen up teenage boys, with little or no respect (some though)? No please shocked. If you were one of the boys, what will you say to me? Busybody right lipsrsealed? I have a code and abide by it. I took it up with the mother to make her see reasons why she should not have laughed over the matter but she waved it, attributing it to boys and girls talk. To her, I had 0 experience in bringing up a child since I had none after all I didn't assist her in pushing the child out during labour. Some mothers believe that since you don't have a child of your own, you should keep your advice to yourself.

I don't have a little sister, but I protect my younger brother up till today as if he's a baby (he's past his teens).

The matter tire person jare... some parents can kill you with the way they handle their ward(s), as if they picked the little one up from the trash cry.

I agree with you but you should have said a sizeable number of men in your first paragraph not "most men"
even from the comments here on the latest rape case on FP can we safely say most men feel the pain or are not monsters?
I agree with you on that point about a sizeable number. However, did you also notice that some of those that posted on the first page also had reasons too ranging from provocative dressing and sizeable number of women calling them derogatory names. I don't subscribe to retribution because it doesn't give any man the right to abuse a woman because of her attitude which was why I also wrote: let's not feed our demons because they will eventually consume us. Prevention measures are better than curative procedures.

Imagine my neighbour was inside the compound one day and the daughter was outside. She and those inside the compound (including me) overheard when some neighbourhood boys told the girl that they were going to molest her (I really don't know what led to such comment). Joking about it or not, I expected her to rise to the defense of the girl immediately.

You can imagine that the mother laughed over the matter and said "you boys are not serious" and went back in. Imagine a mother could not even protect her own daughter even when it was glaring.

We will surely overcome, honestly. I fear for the girl child (especially the innocent ones) because she's at the receiving end of the stigma (most times) of the whole issue.

PS: I've seen men who can kill anyone who abuses the female folk. Believe me.

Brugo:
Madam. Discuss within my context. Thanks.
classicB see if you can heed Brugo's advice to discuss within his context. Please note that most men, I repeat, most men feel your pain. Most men are not monsters, same way not all women/ladies/girls dress indecently.

I'll never forget what one of my uncles told me: the society prepares the crime, the criminal only commits it.

Most of the comments I've read on this discourse, borders on the fact that some of the female folk dress in a manner that provokes or invites the criminal to commit the crime. If possible, don't counter the points but see how you can educate the female folks around you on dressing.

Also, some women insult men that don't have sex with them giving all sorts of reason:

Not caring
Not man enough
Not serious (to mention just a few)

On the other hand, some men are just beasts. Does a 2 year-old dress provocatively? No. Absolutely no. The male folks amongst us need to rise up and assist these ones and show them how to channel their thinking into something other than sex.

In school then, I had board games. So if any of my female classmate visits, we play the games thereby channeling our minds into something else. If any human feeds his/her mind on anything, the body acts in resonance with the mind. We should never feed our demons, else they will consume us eventually.

Which is why I insist on when a man/woman are courting, there should be a chaperone that is nearby but not close enough to be able to eavesdrop on their conversation so as to safeguard, most especially the woman.

Lastly, with the help of God, we will all conquer someday.

Yes NL shouldn't be blamed for his arrest, Dharniel. Apparently there were eye-witnesses so even if it wasn't tipped off on NL, someone out there will deliver the news to his superiors. Moreso that everyone is trying to be in the good books of the C-in-C (PMB), his superiors will use him as a scapegoat to launch their career in the force.

Hi agabal23 I'll agree with you on one hand about those in charge of the system destroying it, albeit you will agree with me that attitude is also a contributing factor. Imagine a drunk driver with an 18 wheeler blaring his horn behind you and there's a ditch in front of you? Like, where exactly does he want you to enter just because his vehicle is higher than yours? It's really disheartening.

Is it possible to derive the same level of tension and suspense from a novel like we do from watching the movie?

Good morning.
Good morning dearpreye. Yes, so long as you are an avid reader and the author's flow can also be of great help. I don't spend more than 4 days on a Vince Flynn novel. It's even motivating me to order the hard copies to keep in my library.

The best legacy we can give to our little ones are books. It helps shape their thinking, general view of life and approach to issues. Sometimes the reason why I don't comment on issues such as politics, racism and tribalism on NL. Behind this faceless forum are people who can actually shape the future of young ones instead of encouraging the "get rich or die trying" ideology. But we allow our dislike for one another to lead even adults to exchange curses with teens that should actually learn from them, then what will we pass to the next generation?

Funny enough, I've never given thought to commenting on NL until I was bedridden since Tuesday

I complimented on someone's signature and immediately he attacked my profile, commenting on my almost anonymity on NL. Probably he didn't get my drift the first time. I politely pointed out to him that it was a compliment, not an insult and credit to him, he apologized. Meanwhile someone, somewhere had noticed the remark (VickyRotex) and pointed out that it was a compliment.

The positive side: I drew him out politely and he apologized. If we all read and acknowledge that circumstances can make people react differently to situations, then our community will be positive.

That was I why accepted VickyRotex's invite to your thread because she seems reasonable and can read in-between the lines and she reads also. I think I'm here to stay smiley

Let me not bore you with my epistle grin. Hope you had a good night rest?
