VickyRotex:I'm sure I will with like minds that share the same goal. You get mind sha. Sometimes the way they attack each other and curse, you wonder if there's a difference between them and those STEALators in the NA. For me, omo na run o . I won't comment unless like you said, if someone is reasonable enough and can approve or disprove a point without cursing. |
VickyRotex:Your are welcome. My weekend was okay because I was indoors all through and took time to surf NL and select topics of interest and I saw this particular topic. Not up to five posts but that was not mymajor concern because no matter how hard people try to suppress the truth or hide an important fact, it will surely come up and shine like the sun one day. I took my time to laugh myself almost to tears when I was readings topics on other threads. ![]() Seun has found a way of connecting the good, the bad and the ugly of society in Nigeria together in one forum. Brilliant idea. Politics section is something else If you want to go there, make sure you have emotional bulletproof and helmet to insults and counter-insults else, sorry na your matter. Kudos to him. |
Mizzzbeee:You are welcome sis. |
VickyRotex:Word! @ the bolded. Preach on sister. Do we all remember Do It Yourself on NTA? Press Club in secondary schools then was the rave of the moment. Cursive writing was one of my best things in primary school then. I think like one of the posters suggested, we need to take it up on ourselves to preach the word. We can discuss on how to create a Union to setup private libraries (if not possible, then e-libraries). |
fctguy:Hi fctguy, note that we all feel the pain and we are affected by it hence why most of us decided to contribute to the topic. I don't know what you are passing through but please know this: most of us are in this painful situation together. The facts you gave are valid although you can still pass the message to the OP without the slur to the OP. Pele bro. Do you also know that our parents back then didn't find it easy in bringing us up? They had to grind out results too. Shalom. |
dearpreye:Public library? It seems you expect much from our present day government. The one in my area is covered in weeds, only mowed down when the place is rented out for parties. You can imagine that the library is surrounded by more than 13 primary and secondary schools (I can't give the exact figure). |
Dioxidane:Dioxidane you did the magic. FP final destination. Like minds think alike. Imagine the points the OP raised and almost all posters supported his view with long epistles. Credit to what you mentioned earlier, you will hear them say "too long", "brb to read", "overview", "you expect me to read all these?" We are in a serious dilemma. |
shegspearl:Lò bá tòn ![]() Imagine how the child would view humans. That all of us are wicked. Evil that men do. |
Mizzzbeee:The book centered around former classmates converging to discuss about the progress and challenges they individually faced after leaving school. Basically some of them are not really progressing very well because of not adapting to CHANGE. One of them told the story of four characters: Ham, Hem (human-like characters), Sniffy and Scurry (mouse-like characters). The main plot focuses on Cheese (a representation of whatever that can make people happy). Sniffy and Scurry made changes to circumstances they found themselves due to instinct. Ham and Hem were resistant to change initially but Ham later moved on and found Cheese (happiness) again. Make I no finish the story for you (no vex). |
dearpreye:Good morning to you too. I hope you slept well? Abeg remove honourable I no reach at all . |
Gwan2:Gwan2 how and where on planet earth did you sit down and reason this? You got me laughing like I inhaled laughing gas. ![]() |

IdiAmin1:Hi IdiAmin1 you're actually correct on your point above. But then permit me to add my thoughts though. I'm sure you will agree with me that owing to the fact that molestation is turning into an order of the day, it is actually easier to approve that the offender committed the crime than disprove. Reason why I blame both the parents and the lecturer. The parents - are they too busy to escort the girl to the school, not thinking through on the different scenarios that might play out if the girl goes alone? The lecturer - is he so busy not to read, listen to news or hear folks within his community discussing about the issue of molestation, that he had to enter into his office (God knows where since UNILAG denied that he exists let alone occupying an office in the school) alone with the girl? I still don't understand the way some adults reason (I'm not referring to you but the parties I mentioned above). Peace to you bro, and have a wonderful day. |
modelmike7:Exactly my thoughts. One of these days, we will wake up to hear that a man has molested his daughter and the mother will support the father, saying that the little child is hallucinating. May God safeguard us from the evil thoughts of wicked men. |
Kingsasian:@ Kingsasian I concur with your points. I had the same upbringing. Back in those days, we literally "devoured" books like there was no tomorrow. Hardley Chase, Shakespeare, Mills and Boon (for the female folk though) to Where There Is No Doctor. Up till now I read a lot. My parents started off by encouraging us to read any sign we see on the road (ranging from signposts to notices). It really bleeds my heart because you hardly find any young person to engage in a meaningful conversation. On a larger part, modern parents are to blame. They practically have no time for their wards. They don't set boundaries for their children. All has been let loose. They should set a limit on what they watch, time they spend on the Internet and also apply a curfew. How many parents have time to go through their ward's exercise books? 10%, 20%, 30%... 99.99%? It's really disheartening to say the least. Go to the Politics Section of NL and you will see how custodians of our generation (elderly ones) exchange insults with one another and with custodians of the next generation (younger ones) without proper diction. The shortening of words has eaten into fabrics of our system to the extent that even some graduates looking for employment use them. Social media only adds to the smaller percentage of the problem. My humble submission. Shalom. @ dearpreye VickyRotex Your attention is needed here please. Food is ready |
Mizzzbeee:I've read it (hope I'm not barging into your conversation with dearpreye ). If not, permit me to drop the points that I got from the book. Waiting for your go ahead. Shalom. |
"I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him." "For Brutus is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men" - Mark Anthony on Caeser's funeral (William Shakespeare) |
dhardline:Same question I asked myself... They might even contest in the forthcoming elections in 2019 under the aegis of PAN or AAN, whichever suits them. ![]() |
deebsman1: ![]() You got me ripping with laughter, honestly. Let me add mine: Latest... |
Unibentested:Bros, I respect you for your dexterity and time to fish out the motive of the scammer. If all of us can do this regardless of how desperate we are in need of a job, then there will lesser cases of fraud. For the greedy ones I can't speak for them. Salute. |
VickyRotex:Abi nah . Na here you come hide abi leave Literature matter for us.I hope your Sunday service went well? I don't want to spam this thread. I'll ask about the book in the other thread. Shalom. |
dfrost:I posted this yesterday and here is an evidence already. Please give it to some men folk out there that protect the women folk (sister/mother/gf/wife/passer-by/et al). @ classicB soonest yetseyi Please heap some praises too for some of the men folk that die trying... Shalom |
lexisjay:You're welcome brother. Shalom. |
SirShymexx:Alright bro. Will heed to the advice. Thanks. |
DEGREE2466:DEGREE2466 I agree with you but a busy now to prepare my argument to support yours. Will modify very soon. |
SirShymexx:Forget about the coherence. Message passed, message received. I'm not above mistakes either owing to typo. classicB soonest yetseyi Don't be afraid of all men. Don't loose guard either. Shalom. |
EggovinMma:Apologies accepted. Not pissed though, only surprised. We will all get there eventually. Please shout it out to the women folk: enrol in a self-defense skill. Karate, judo, jujitsu, taekwondo et al. Make sure you don't use the skills for attacking the male folk. Only for self-preservation. Shalom. |
yetseyi:Yes we can. Did you notice that some guys were actually defending ladies on the thread? So we can whenever the need rises. Don't worry I'll serve yours once the water in the refrigerator gets cold. |
boman2014:boman2014 you for do eye like say you no see am nah . Sometimes mistakes do occur when some of us are in a rush to post topics, comments online... That's why it's called mistake. Shalom |
EggovinMma:Haba EggovinMma , sorry if my post was misinterpreted. So sorry about that. I never insulted you. There is no need to wish me death by lethal injection. I was asking for suggestions on ways to curb the issue. Best regards. |
SirShymexx:Hi SirShymexx, How I wish I could give a glass of chilled Nutri C (wetin you dey expect before? ) for your post. You are among those that have hit the nail on the head. The following are my submissions based on your post:Third paragraph - I agree totally with you. When I was in my early teens, a family friend (female, in her late teens) came over to our house on a routine visit. As soon as she saw that my elder sister wanted to get something outside, she come over to me and started stroking my private part. I was shocked even as little as I was. I slapped her hand away but couldn't push her away because she was quite bigger than me. Immediately my sister came in, I reported the matter to her. My sister gave her a slap of her life and warned her never to come to our house again and she never did. So boys can also be victimised. Fourth paragraph - Rape victims are not in the majority, they are also not in the minority. Are you also aware that husbands rape their wives too? It's a consent issue. Probably at that moment, the wife was not in the mood. But the unnecessary noise owes its credit to social media. More people are becoming aware faster than ever before. Like you said and I quote "it can be dealt with in a more effective way, without creating unnecessary suspicions/tensions between both groups". I reasoned on this line with classicB and she quite understood. But you know men, we are so hard-wired that we can only break at the highest level of pressure. So sometimes we sulk it in and pretend nothing happened while women talk about it. Like I mentioned earlier, they are at the receiving end. It's a very traumatising ordeal. One can never feel the pain of another unless you pass through the same treatment. What I understand from the participants of this topic (especially the women folk) is that they need assurance from the opposite gender that they will be protected (excluding those who hunt for trouble on their own) and also the male folk should speak out for them when the need arises. PS: those who are interested in reading the long post will always read it if they want to learn. No man is an epitome of knowledge. Shalom. |
EggovinMma:So how can you help them (all of us) get the orientation? We are ready to listen. |
