FACT 1: nigeria's oil wealth has been continualy plundered since the 70's (gen. abdusalam's administration holds the fastest record in timeframe, while ibb's regime's the overall winner) FACT 2: the greatest beneficiaries of this wealth plundage are i. our political elite(military oligarchs, the PDP, all political godfathers, ethnic power brokers, oil cabals, ex-generals, etc) and ii. the west,G8 and entire europe(now broke); most of them are now being sidelined, also as china is becoming the new economic magnet. FACT 3: GEJ administration has the greatest opportunity of stopping the wastage, but its definitly NOT IN ITS INTENT NOR POLITICAL WILL, and its unfortunately percieved(fairly or unfairly) to be latest and most unpopular oil wealth wastage contender. FACT 4: ALL THOSE MENTIONED IN FACT 2, i.e the west/G8/europe and sidelined elite CANNOT CONTINUE TO WAIT IN THE SIDELINES WHILE THEIR HABITUAL ECONIMIC CASHCOW( oyel money) is been misdirected to new breeds of wealth guzzlers( transformation agenda?), mind you NON OF ALL THE CONTENTEDERS EVER MENTIONED IN THIS ENTIRE THREAD NOR JONATHANS GOVT, HAS THE INTEREST OF NIGERIAN MASSES ( sOmeone correct me if am wrong please). FACT 5: its a fight among the wolfs in sheep clothing( G8, ACN/CPC) and the lions (FG) For the prey( nigerian oil wealth) HUMBLE OPPINION: the country's future is bleak, in the absence credible/competent opposition, and the continuation of wastage legacy by this weak and incompetent administration, there is no end in sight for bleeding of nigerian masses. its a vicious circle, lets tell ourselves the bitter truth! |

Facebook fraudster steals N235,000 from job seeker http://247nigerianewsupdate.com/facebook-fraudster-steals-n235000-from-job-seeker/ A 36-year-old man, Olalekan Kazeem, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for alleged fraud and theft. According to police authorities, the suspect’s modus operandi was to either impersonate a popular person on facebook and defraud unsuspecting people or to offer women free rides with his car only to make away with their valuables. PUNCH Metro learnt that five women had fallen victim to his tricks, three of whom were National Youth Service Corps members. The police also said the suspect was five years ago arrested and paraded before journalists. The victims told journalists at the office of the Police Public Relations Officer that the suspect made away with cash, documents, ATM cards and their handbags. One of the victims, Adenike Odubiyi, said Kazeem posed as Prince Adekunle Oyekan on facebook. She said, “On facebook, someone with the name Prince Adekunle Oyekan, sent me a friend request. He never used his own personal picture rather; he used the Nigerian Coat of Arms logo as his picture. “I accepted his request and he was able to get my BlackBerry PIN on my profile page and we used to chat a lot. “One day he asked me what I was doing for living but I told him that I completed my NYSC in February but had no job. He told me he had connections with the Nigerian Customs Service and that he could help me get a job there.” Odubiyi said the suspect demanded for N235,000 and told her that they would need to travel to the NCS Headquarters, Abuja together. She said on November 15, 2012, she met the suspect at Motorways Plaza, and she got into his car. She said, “My husband dropped me off at Motorways where I met Kazeem. Kazeem later told me that he was a surgeon and that his real name was Babs Adegoroye. “On our way to the Ikeja Airport, he stopped to buy fuel at Mobolaji Johnson Avenue. After buying fuel, he said his car was faulty and asked me to help push it (car) so he could kick start it. “I alighted from the vehicle, leaving all my money (N235, 000), my original credentials and other valuables in his car. Immediately I pushed the car, Kazeem started it and sped off.” Three NYSC members, who also fell victim to the suspect, said Kazeem offered them a free ride in Oyo State but made away with their belongings. The victims – Fadeke Adefemi, Ganiyat Ibrahim and Folashade Okunola – were on their way from their Community Development Service when they met the suspect. Adefemi said, “On December 20, 2012, my colleagues and I were on our way back from CDS on Ishara end of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when Kazeem saw us in our uniform. He offered us a ride and we boarded his car. “When we got to Guru Maraji area, he said his car was faulty and asked us to alight and push it. As we were pushing it, the car started and he sped off. All our belongings were in his vehicle, including phones.” Another victim, Janet Akinbo, said she had a similar experience with Kazeem when he picked her up at Berger end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. She said, “My ATM card, phone and my original credentials were left in Kazeem’s car. My ATM PIN was my date of birth and Kazeem was able to obtain this information from my curriculum vitae. “He was able to withdraw all the money in my bank account which was N104, 000.” The suspect, who claimed to be a graduate of Civil Engineering, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, told PUNCH Metrothat he took to crime because he needed to take care of his wife and four children. “I became a fraudster because I had fallen victim to fraudsters before. I used to be a foreman for a building construction company but needed more money to take care of my family,” he said. When quizzed about how he escaped being sent to jail five years ago, the suspect said he was acquitted of all charges. The PPRO, Ngozi Braide, seized the opportunity to warn members of the public, especially women, to be very careful when dealing with strangers. “The case of Cynthia Osokogu should serve as a lesson to young women that meeting strangers on social networks or getting into a car with a strange man is dangerous,” she said, adding that the suspect was arrested through intelligence gathering. She said, “After the lady he met on facebook (Odubiyi) reported at Ogudu Police Station, detectives were able to find him and when his place was searched, some belongings of the other victims were found. “Through their items, we were able to contact them. However, we couldn’t recover their certificates.” |

chipmunkey: Don't get me wrong...wow! u have some very strong points about the value of land as seen in advanced economies. dont mind if u you drop more points as compared to online real estate. however. i strongly believe the OP is very correct. infact i think u very much agree with him wen u said "land is valuable as a form of real estate investment in a backward economy like ours. " nigeria is a peculiar environment and we have to be pragmatic about it, instead of pursueing foriegn ideas that dont really fit in all cases. i am a practical example, flat broke right now, but take soulice and inspiration from my very valuable lands i acquired years back(not depending on it though). lands are safe and always appreciating in value. |

@poster....isnt ur bigotry of the highest order? if u believe she's doing well, why bring in ethnic bashing into it. this is so sad for the nigeria youths of today. i challenge u to post something about the minister of agriculture and ask urself if ur premise on the other tribe is logical at all. pls change ur mindset for ur own good... it determines what goes on around u. all other ethnic warriors should take note too. we should stop living in the past |

Gej is too slow. Most D.Gs and ministers are either incompetent or not totally alligned to the agenda of the president. The top echelon of the civil service is a colosal disaster. Looking at the recent privatisation activities... She should have been told to resign long ago. May God see nigeria through the next 3 yrs. The situation is becoming too drastic in the hands of a very weak president. |
this govt. is fighting curruption promptly... GEJ ![]() |
EDITED>> wow! thanks all, keep your contributions and opinions coming. |
Is it only our rifineries? What of the ports? The rails? The public primary schools? Public housing? The police? Even the national assemble? This country is on the cliff! unfortunately those that can bring the changes are either indifferent or are distracted by personal quest for comfort. may God intervain cos we are out of solutions or leaders to bring the required change. |
Good intentions from CBN... But knowing the greed of the bank as well as their high cost of operations.... I think its bad timing. The banks will no longer attach prority to servicing the machines, especially off-premises atm's and weekend mentainance. The fact is in nigeria, its unnessarilly too expensive to keep this machines up. Infact some few banks may just consider operating atms as nonprofitable venture. I think drastically reducing the charges(like 70%) and bombarding clients with more atm incentives would have been a better option. Reduce the charges... Increase d volume of services. anyway... Lets hope they use the coming weeks to workout wise solutions that wud not complicate the already inbalanced atm servises. |

A few years ago, before/after the crash of the capital market, we had good Nigerian websites providing real-time data and tools for tracking, demo-trading and analyzing the stock market.. I mean very good ones. Sites like proshareng, nigeriansecurities.com , cashcraft.com and even stockmarketnigeria.com etc were very useful. Among all, was nigeriansecurities.com(NS) stood out in terms of technical analytical tools. The site was rich with very practical and useful tools like charts, indicators, trial trading, portfolio management tools and lots more. In fact, it had the best daily stock quotes for traders with deep insight of technical analyses. Unfortunately, the site(NS) is no more. I wish to use this medium to ask NLers to suggest any better alternatives. Easykobo.com is fair but cannot be compared to NS. A screenshot of nigeriansecurities.com(NS) is posted below. Is there any Nigerian website for effectively analyzing the Nigerian stock market?
