but what's in it for Nigeria?
don't tell me that its simply to weaken Boko Haram (Libya provides a crucial link)
dont tell me its simply to help our brother nation (remember South Africa's ingratitude)

After fighting Mali's war, we have to station our troops permanently there, and influence their government
We need to sell made in Nigeria cars to them; they need to buy our Chivita and Dangote juice
We need to ensure that the powers of their central bank stops being domiciled in France, but intstead is domiciled in one of our banks
The loot of their leaders must not go to Swiss or French banks. They should send their loot to Zenith bank

we need to ensure that we send our own university graduate expatriates to construct roads in Mali
Our intellectuals need to be given consultancy work in their development agencies
The kids of their top shots need to school in our universities
the parents should be directed to our own Calaber for their resort

Their top shots need to made to buy holiday homes in Nigeria
Their young girls need to fall over for our men and get impregnated sharp sharp (as some of our ghirls fall over for oyibo)

.....This is the way the West does it, and it is marvelous in my sight

Some of that actually happens. Check Sao Tome, and Gambia. It's just that the masses don't really know or care, and who blames them?

Wow, this is the Nigerian Airforce. This is the Northern Nigerian Air-Force, and these guys are soooooooooo ready for any sessionists who wanna break this country into 2.
Seems like the early Nigerians accept this reality, and people start focusing totally on their region, the better....

What has this got to do with Nigerians sending troops to Mali for peace-keeping ?

You can't fight all wars from the sky,you will need ground battle for maximum casualty to enemy forces and Nigerians are rugged when it comes to infantry.

I have no problems with oour infantry.. Infact, they have the upper hand over the french on ground due to their familiarity with the environment (African geurilla warfare, terrain, ecology, e.t.c).. However, in the skies, its a different matter. If those rebels happen to have laid their hands on a stinger missile, then those our MIGs are in deep shiit!! Whilst our pilots would have to manually outrun and outmanuver those missiles, the french Mirages would do less work with the aid of decoy flares and such...

I thought Abacha bought some F-18s on the black market that some were seized by the Isrealis. I hope they have been recovered..

So far countries of the world have discrepancies in resources and each has undying appetites to satisfy her wants/needs,then there will always be war.its either islam vs christainity, capitalism vs socialism, east vs west, white vs black, conservative vs liberals and so on.

All these warplanes looks hungry. I can do this job all alone. I'll single handedly destroy Mali jihadist

Nigeria is a developing country while france is not only a developed country but a super power and one of the five members of the united nations security council that can unilaterally start a major war as seen in this case.Abeg, let Naija be jare cuz naija is light years behind france.

We don't need the Apache helicopter. The Mi-35 Hind attack helicopters in our inventory are way more rugged, armoured, way faster, and carry a vast array of deadly armaments. There's a reason it's called Satan's Chariot/crocodile.

I know particularly of SaoTome which was cornered by Obasanjo's crony
Me thinks it should be expanded further, not only to enrich one or two men, but actually to provide jobs for lots of Nigerian graduates as expatriates

We no go dey help people fight their war for nothing

Provide electricity first before you talk of manufacturing warplanes. Jet fighter no be keke Napep o! grin
But you have a point. We need to be forward-thinking and self-reliant in strategic issues like national/regional security.

Re: Nigerian Warplanes Head To Mali by Positiveminds(m): 9:56am On Jan 17, 2013
I don't know Jack about the types of war planes you guys are talking about. However, I am concerned about the implications of this move on the peace of this nation. Those fundamentalist already have dozens of reasons why they hate Nigeria. I don't think it is in our own best interest to keep sending our troops to go and fight outside . We already have enough in our hands to deal with. This assistance means Nigeria would be losing enormous amount of material and human resources.

Operational history
Most actions carried out by the F-7 have been air-to-ground missions. In air-to-air missions, there have rarely been any encounters resulting in dogfights.

haha think agin, america will never give any country its f-22 multirole stealth fighter jet for any reason.
Re: Nigerian Warplanes Head To Mali by kawkab: 10:04am On Jan 17, 2013
Kudos to the Nigerian Air Force and the Nigerian Military (the best fighting force in Africa). They have proven it over and over again. In this case the rebel and jihadist would start shitting in their pants when they hear that the Green White Green flag and the strength of the eagle would be landing.

We may not have gotten everything right, but gradually we are getting there. At present the Liberian and Sierra Leonian economy has a heavy Nigerian Presence, same for Sao Tomme and Principe and majority of West African Country.

lets wish our men the best as the first batch leave for their duty tour/combat role for 6 months.

how much is the f-16 and f-22? They are not up to 30million USD each one. One of the f-7s costs 15million USD. We bought 15 of them in 2009. I personally think that money should have been used to buy the 16s and 22s.
Re: Nigerian Warplanes Head To Mali by leslieu63(m): 10:10am On Jan 17, 2013
just 5 american f-22 stealth fighter jet or russia Sukhoi T-50 stealth fighter, can take out a hundred Chengdu F7s and alphas combined, imagine fighting what u cant see.

I hope we have a lot to gain from this war. Make we no dey show ourself if nothing dey for us O.
One question is this: Can't France handle this alone? If they can, why bother?
We can handle the ground battle confidently. I suggest the French team takes care of the aerial offence.
