PoliticsRe: Give Amnesty To Boko Haram Says House Of Reps by dgitrader(op): 4:12pm On Mar 20, 2013
counter-insurgence seems not to be popular with some people anymore.

JTF or BH, who is about having the upper hand now?
PoliticsGive Amnesty To Boko Haram Says House Of Reps by dgitrader(op): 4:09pm On Mar 20, 2013
Written by Alaba Johnson
The House of Representatives yesterday called on President Goodluck Jonathan to grant amnesty to members of Boko Haram sect without further delay in order to end the spate of violence in the country.

Adopting a motion on matters of urgent national importance sponsored by Rep. Ibrahim Olaifa (AC, Oyo), MPs said the government and the nation have everything to gain when the violence is ended. In his motion, Rep. Olaifa argued that if the same government had given amnesty to Niger Delta militants there was no reason that it won’t extend same to Boko Haram members because they too are Nigerians who deserve to be treated as such. “We have continued to lose lives and property everyday but there is nothing to lose if we engage these people in dialogue and offer them amnesty. They are Nigerians and we know that poverty pushed some of them to engage in violence. We should turn them to peaceful human beings instead of treating them as goats. Nigeria has nothing to lose,” Olaifa said. The motion was not debated further but passed unanimously when the question was put to vote by Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who presided over the session.

grow up boy! this is a forum, express yourself as u like
do you know what is called psychological warfare?
if the spokesman of the JTF(who is easily trailed and profiled) is attacked, dont you know it will be a massive psychological boost to the terrorist and their sympathizers?
wait and see what the army command would do.

MODS.... why did you change my thread topic? if you dont know the difference between 'threaten' and 'marked for death' then read the statement credited to the bokoharam leader below..

''But Sagir Musa should continue to deceive the world, one day he would fall in our trap and we will deal with him, since we have his photograph with us. We know all your movement around Maiduguri in a small car. You have no place to hide from us, except you leave Maiduguri town. You shall see, and you shall see''
why should they face extermination?, these people want Islamic republic of Northern Nigeria and their people want it too, they should be left alone, Islam is their religion and they want to govern themselves in Islamic way,
that is the fact of the matter! this fake federal system of government is not working, the country is just being held together by fiat, and its only a matter of time.
IF POOR MASSES OF NORTHEAST DESIRE PURE SHARIA/ISLAMIC RULE...... WHY HOLD IT AGAINST THEM.... LET THEM HAVE IT, ITS THEIR RIGHT. THE N/DELTA CLAMORED FOR RESOURCE CONTROL, THEY GOT 14%, SO IF THIS PEOPLE WANT ISLAMIC RULE, LET THEM HAVE IT.

more lives are being lost hourly in the north now, and the press can not even report the true picture, because the terrain is damn too dangerous.

i pray Col. Musa is safely transferred to another region away from this maiduguristan!

this is dangerous o!
if the Emir with all his security protocols could be attacked, what is the fate of this gallant soldier(who is presently being trailed by terrorist following his small car)? i believe he is a father and has family too, may God touch the senses of the military command let them transfer him down south immediately o! ahhh!
before we add another to the long list of past heros.

northeast is on the verge of becoming another Afghanistan, the insurgents are die-hard fighters on suicide mission, the military surge being used has never worked anywhere in the world, ideological/religious warfare is a very dirty game, sometimes never ending. millions of jobless and poverty stricken youths are future recruits, sponsors of bokoharam are not short of funds, more heavy weapons flowing in from the Libyan crisis, the JTF are becoming overstretched, its only a matter of time before we see a full-scale breakdown of law and other.

which way Nigeria?
PoliticsBoko-Haram Threatens To Kill Lt.Col Musa JTF Spokesman by dgitrader(op): 2:38pm On Mar 20, 2013
Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, who is the spokesman of the Joint Task Force in Maiduguri, has asserted that the personal threats of Boko Haram will not distract him or stop him from performing his duties.

In a new video on Monday, the sect’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, accused Musa, of misinforming the public about the sect's attack on Monguno military barracks in Borno State.

“To the little brat called Lt Col Sagir we heard of your claims that your troops, JTF, had ambushed our men on the way to Monguno, killed several of our men and even retrieve four of our vehicles,” Shekau said. “These are all lies unbecoming of a soldier. It is a shame.”

Shekarau said that contrary to Musa’s account, members of his sect “easily invaded” the army barracks in Mungono and killed an unknown number of soldiers.

“We packed unknown quantum of arms and ammunition which was filled in two trucks, we burnt down the excess from the armoury. They left with gallantry chanting Allahu Akbar. Here are the arms in display. We have 15 Browning rifles in our armoury now, all from Monguno barracks.”

He bragged: “The arms we have is enough for us to bring down the entire Borno state. None of our members died as claimed by soldiers except for three persons. But the soldiers we killed in Monguno barracks. But Sagir Musa should continue to deceive the world, one day he would fall in our trap and we will deal with him, since we have his photograph with us. We know all your movement around Maiduguri in a small car.”

He warned Musa to leave Maiduguri because he will have no place to hide from his group, saying, “You shall see, and you shall see.

In a terse response, Musa said the Nigerian Army does not produce cowards and that what he enjoys most is serving humanity through protecting lives and property. “I strongly believe that is the noblest act on earth, which no amount of threat will distract, weaken or stop me from performing. The lives of all creatures are in the hands of ALLAH – He gives and takes from whoever he wills.”

Shekau, who on the video is shown surrounded by several hooded gunmen standing upon a pile of different shapes and sizes of arms and ammunition, said the weapons were those his group took away from the military armoury after they bombed Monguno Barracks.

The Kanuri-born Boko Haram leader, who spoke in Hausa and Arabic, said they still have the seven kidnapped French nationals in custody and would continue to keep them until the governments of Cameroon and Nigeria released their members and family detained in the two countries.

The seven French tourists, members of one family, were snatched last month in a neighbouring Cameroonian community before they were transported to Nigeria. The group had earlier released a video of the victims.

Mr. Shekau also warned journalists to avoid phantom groups parading themselves as Boko Haram, even as he officially declared one Abu Zinnira to be the new spokesperson that journalists should deal with henceforth. The group’s previous spokesman, Abu Qaqa, was reportedly killed last year.

Politics"Boko-Haram Sect Are Resilient Warriors" - JTF Personnel by dgitrader(op): 7:52am On Mar 19, 2013
Boko Haram sect members operating in Northern Nigeria are “resilient warriors” who are guided by ideological beliefs and are fearless in confronting the security agencies, a member of Nigeria’s Joint Task Force (JTF), has said.

The soldier, who requested anonymity, told SaharaReporters that the sect has many bases in the North that are yet to be unraveled, where they are brainwashing young Muslims. He said any one under-estimating them should rethink because the sect will never accept dialogue or any form of mediation unless they are crushed.

The soldier further said that members of the sect undertake certain rituals that make them fearless and focused in their insurgency and terrorists acts, adding that those under interrogation in JTF’s base usually confess that “they are doing Allah’s work” or “Jihad”.

The soldier explained, “I have been to Dafur and Liberia, but never experienced these kinds of fighters. Rebels want power but these ones want death, they are just resilient warriors. You will see a small boy fearless and exchanging gun fire with us and even killing and injuring our colleagues.

He described how one of them nearly killed him last year in Damaturu. “We used to buy local food somewhere; from nowhere they trailed us and opened fire on us killing two of our colleagues, we escaped by luck with gun wounds.”

Of their use of rituals, he said those who have been capture had told them about it. “We believed them because the level of their ideology and commitment to their action proved so. We usually recover charms and other belongings related to acts of sorcery.”

also i dont think its wrong for ur temperature guage to be halfway, thats not bad for ur car engine.

on the sideline...
my old man used to do that in the 80s to early 90s as far i could remember. he had then 504, passat and latter bmw. i dont remember the reasons, but i sure know he was a seasoned british trained technician. speciallized in lister engines, cranes, caterpillar engines and some of the baddast ever lister generators u could think of then(the ones that powered large housing estates in warri/PH) . whatever his reasons were those days, i dont remember....BUT IT SURE WORKED WELL FOR HIM THEM! though i can never let sugar come near my rides... never in this era of modern engines.
NOTE: i witnesed him rebuild several bmw engines right in our private residence. however... i leave it to the experts in the house to educate us on this.

Give it up. The only people that will believe such articles are the same traitors that betrayed us southerners in 1967, 1994 and 1998. They are trying to betray us again but we are far wiser now. Can't you see the SS and SE have made up their minds? Open your eyes. Now we have forged a strong alliance with the NC who have also been terribly marginalised and mess up both by the NE/NW and some of their own leaders. Nobody will buy your story anymore. You guys destroyed and plundered Nigeria and used divide and rule tactics to turn us against each other. It will never work again.

Why do you think nobody cared about the last subsidy protest in the SS and SE? Only your slaves will believe your crap again. We are fed up of it. We will get equity whether you like it or not.

Ikenna351: Whenever am embarking on a journey or long distance driving, I would slot in my 2pac's MP3 and thats it. Sometimes i would slot in the Deathrow record jams of the '90s (sorry, i dont do Nigerian music). But my favourite is Pac. Love listening to his prophesies when am driving, especially for such long hours of driving. His lyrics keeps me active.

Ever slept off? No. But have felt sleepy twice, along Abuja - Enugu expressway (but thanks to manual transmission). Manual tranny always keep all parts of my body active: two legs and both hands. Its ideal to park and take a nap before continuing on the journey if one is feeling sleepy, but only if you are in a safe zone. You cant just park anywhere, considereing how safe our highways are, in the middle of nowhere. In such situation, shifting the stick up and down, moving your two hands to steer the wheel and change the gears freqently, and calculating with the engine sound to know when to change the gear to a higher one, kind of keeps me active and before i know it, the sleepy feeling or fatigue would be gone. Or at least, it will help you get to a safe place where you can park and sleep as long as you want.

I know some of you would blame one for not sleeping enough the previous night before starting a journey. But there are situations you may find yourself sleeping late and you still need to make that journey the next morning. Those that do frequent long distance driving would understand. Even when you work tirelessly the previous day and went to bed early, you will still experience fatigue few hours into the journey the next day.

well said!

If you are the type that love cool musics, make sure you take those cds far away from the drivers seat. Dont even think of playing any. Because that cool music you love could land you in mortuary. I remembered in one of my drive from Abuja to Enugu, someone joined me in that journey. Shortly after Ajaokuta, he said he didnt like the music i was playing that he wanted to listen to something else. He put in my lucky Dube that i play only when driving in the city. Few mins later, sleep came from nowhere. By the time i looked at him to tell him to remove the lucky Dube, he had dozed off. I quickly removed and threw the cd at the back seat and put back what i was listening to before. Since that day, i made up my mind, as long as am the one on the steering wheel, i decide the music to be played. Hate me if you like. My car, my rules. I wont again put my life in danger just to impress a Passenger, no matter how close or how much i care about the person or the passenger.

One more thing, if you are driving on a highway and your passenger starts sleeping, even if the passenger is your wife, ask her to relocate to the rear seats. Its better you guys fight when you get to your destination over that, than both of you ending up in the Hospital or Mortuary. Its your call.

Ikenna.
