lami88: I don't know about the one in Atlanta, but Kaiser in sacramento/ Roseville is an highbrow , expensive hospital. They don't even do self pay/ cash stuff Thanks. My OB/GYN is under them but affiliated to Piedmont Atlanta, and I'm using Piedmont Atlanta. So far, all the tests I've done there, i have self-paid, cos they now have a rate for non-members and it is quite more affordable than the rate I was given at northpointe ob/GYN. I had Ultrasound scan done there today for 45 dolls cos I'm uninsured and northpointe's quote was 120 dolls and North metro was 150. So far great services, but I just really wanna know what d delivery cost will be for non-members (uninsured) cos I was told it depends on the services rendered during Labour and delivery. And that has got me confused. |

Hello everyone, I got into Atlanta on Thursday morning and will share my POE experience very soon, meanwhile any june-Aug Atl mum-to-be in the house? Wanted to use northside hospital but it's very far from where I am staying, so, i am thinking of using Piedmont since my Dr. is affiliated to both hospitals and it's closer. Has anyone used Piedmont before? What's the fee like (going there on Monday to get the quote tho) and also, how was the experience There? However, any mum-to-be in Georgia atm can send me an e-mail and let's connect. Thanks |

ayabemm16: Congrats to u. Pls do u mind sharing ur transcript. Thanks Thank you but it's a bit lengthy. Anyway, here it goes ..... After I was denied 3 weeks ago, became active on here and posted my story and was advised here to reapply with hubby, but if hubby wouldn't be around, I should just be more confident and elaborate on my answers. So, I scoped hubby to apply with me this time around, cos he's the sponsor and he has better travel history. Then on Thursday,we left home around 4:40a.m to avoid the traffic, branched at his office to print his pay slips (cos I insisted, eventhough, he said it was not necessary but he had to please me) and we got to the embassy before 6a.m. Alot happened that morning and we were eventually called in for the interview at about 8:30a.m, while on the queue I sighted the V.O that interviewed me previously, (window 5) with her friend in window 4, chai I just showed hubby and told him we were not going to Windows 2, 4 and 5, that they were mean cos they have started giving the blue slips again, lol. Hubby was just laughing that 'ko mean ' that it's how you present your case,I said 'story' that we were sha not going. He said okay. Then I noticed the funky V.O (quite young) was nicer and I noticed same thing about him the last time too, he was patient and more interactive, interviewed like 5 people and gave 4 of them white paper, so I told boo it's either this cute guy in window 6 or the older woman in window 7. He said why not window 3, that had an older man that looked korean, I said he looked strict and he would probably drill us hard that we shouldn't go, and at that point, hubby was tired, he said 'you know what, we are going to anyone we fall into'. As I was still trying to convince him, that's how the security guard coordinating the queue just saw me and said 'mama twins,I can't allow you to stand for long o, you and baba twins should come to this window, I looked up and it was window 3,the 'korean' man, oh my God!. I just told the guard I was fine, no need to rush, that we will wait for our turn, she said No, she's insisting, my hubby was like no P cos he was embarrassed already. So, we filed behind the next line, I now told hubby that I was going to d toilet thinking by the time I'd be back, he would be interviewing someone else and I will just use scope drag hubby to Windows 7 or 8. So, off I went to the toilet, I started praying, then the spirit said 'why are you bothered about who interviews you? Don't you believe in your God again? Don't you know He will favour you?' At that point, I just started hearing hubby' s voice describing my job duties, I peeped small and I saw d Korean man has started interviewing my husband. I just rushed outside and went to stand beside him and I was surprised the atmosphere was very calm,no tension. Then he looked at me and started my interview: V.O: Good morning ma Me: Good morning sir (smiles) V.O: why do you want to go to the U.S? Me: Childbirth V.O: what do you do ma? Me: I am a Pharmacist V.O: Do you work in a pharmacy or as a pharmacist? Me: sorry, can you repeat ur question? V.O: Do you work in a pharmacy or as a pharmacist? Me: I am a pharmacist, a community pharmacist to be specific, was formerly working with the teaching hospital as a clinical pharmacist but (hubby pinched me) So I kept quiet V.O: What does your husband do? Me: *smiles* then told him the company he works for and his position at work V.O: where are you going in the U.S Me: Duluth, Georgia V.O: I can see you were refused not too long ago Me: yes sir V.O: *types for about 10 seconds* Congratulations, your visas have been approved.... Us: Thanks And that was it, my observation was , as I got to know here, the interview is actually 70% of what you filled in your DS 160 form, then 30% oral and composure, because my former DS 160 form I only 'briefly described' my duties, didn't specify I was a pharmacist, only gave the job descriptions and I guess that's why he asked if I was working in a pharmacy or I was actually a pharmacist. This time around, I specified my job and went further to describe my duties elaborately not withholding any pharmaceutical term that is seem fit in the scenario inside d DS160 Secondly, for My reasons for refusal, said i do not know but I however went ahead to justify my social, financial and economic ties according to what I learnt from @May2017 Thirdly, when re-applying, please try not to deviate from your background story, though be more elaborate but do not lie. Just speak the truth and fill your form yourself, that way, you have more confidence cos you know what you filled, how to defend yourself and also don't hold any relevant information back because you think have documents to support ur claims. That's error o, go along with your documents but never rely on them to save the day because most times they do not ask at all. Made this mistake in my first interview, was not elaborate Cos I thought I had docs to back me up. Hubby said the V.O (he doesn't like me calling him Korean, hubby said he's full American) was just very nice to him cos before I came out of the toilet, he already asked him questions and immediately he mentioned d company he works for, the man recognized it, read hubby's form (which was like a C.V anyways) and was quite impressed by his resumé (speaks 7 other languages apart from English and has served in d army before) So, I guess he loved that and everything still bounces back to 'fill it D'S 160 as if you are going for a job interview, give them ur best on the paper and wish you best of luck. Fourthly,It was God's favor. Cos we could have gone to window 7 or 8 and still be denied, I've seen the Korean man deny one or two people before, so pray hard and the Lord will go with you. Abeg, ignore all blunders |

May2017: The resume part: I didn't describe 'briefly' my duties. I guess I glossed over my duties in my first 2 applications. This time, I was a bit elaborate and I didn't hold back in using investment terminologies. My ties: That I have lived in Nigeria all my life (Buliding my career in financial services over the last 10 years). If your spouse, your parents and your siblings live and work in Nigeria, say so. List the communities/groups you belong to. List the assets you own and state that they are important enough for you to return to. l Awwww, thanks for taking your time out to reply me. Hopefully, I'll share my testimony soon. Thanks alot |

May2017: The older white woman Thank you, also please, how did you make d job part look like a resume cos I actually didn't specify I'm a pharmacist on the Ds160, I only described the job duties and I guess it's one of the reasons too. Also, how did you demonstrate your strong ties cos I've only been married for 9 months too and had to change job when I relocated permanently to where hubby is. Pls kindly reply or better still, send a mail. Thanks in advance |

Hello house God bless every single person who has contributed to this thread. Your contributions were of immense help to me hence, the need to give back. I have been reading as a guest but decided to sign up this morning. Brief background: I have a good travel history but I have been denied a US visa twice. Yesterday was my third attempt. My husband is a frequent traveler to the US, the VO acknowledged this during my second interview but because I was newly married, he said I was still building ties. What I did differently: 1. I filled the job description part of my application like I was writing my resume for a big job. I made a big deal of it 2. Where they asked for reason why previous application was denied, I strongly defended my ties in Nigeria 3. Prayer cannot be overemphasized. My mom, my sister and I were in a prayer chain which we neither planned nor discussed. It was after I got the visa each of them told me they had been interceding for me
VO: Good morning ME: Good morning (passed my passport to her) VO: (Looking through) what did you go to do in the UK? ME: Vacation VO: How long have you worked with Bleep? (I was wearing my ID card) ME: 6 years VO: (Nodding) Have you met me before? ME: No VO: Give me a minute to look through your previous applications, I see you’ve been denied twice and I’d like to understand the context within which you were denied ME: Okay VO: You say you’ve worked with Bleep 5 years? ME: No, 6 years VO: What do you do for them? ME: I’m an investment manager. Currently, we have about Nxxbn in funds under management. I … VO: (Cuts in) what’s your highest level of education? ME: (I did not anticipate this question, so I stuttered) Masters. M.Sc. VO: What field? ME: Finance VO: What institution? ME: University of Lagos VO: What year? ME: 2010, but my B.Sc. was in 2006 VO: What are you going to do in the US? ME: Childbirth. My husband is sponsoring my trip VO: How long have you been married? ME: 8 months VO: Have you contacted any clinic? ME: Yes. Hope Women’s Clinic is taking up my care. They’re in Richmond, Texas. The hospital is Oakbend. I have an acceptance letter from them VO: Never mind. How much does your total bill come to? (Typing) ME: $11,700 VO: $11,700? That’s a lot of money. If you’ve only been married 8 months, how are you able to afford that? ME: We have an investment account VO: (nodding and typing away) what does your husband do? ME: He’s a banker. He works with Bleep VO: Do you have any relative in Texas? ME: Yes VO: Are you able to stay with them? ME: Yes VO: Who might that be? ME: My husband’s sister and my mom’s brother VO: Plan to stay 3 months ME: (Thinking it was a question) no, 10 weeks VO: I’m advising you to plan to stay 3 months. You have to travel at least 4 weeks before your baby comes and it’s advisable to let your baby be up to 8 weeks before you get on a plane to take a long flight. So, give or take, 12 weeks ME: Okay (wondering if that means she has approved my visa because she’s typing away) VO: (Getting up and circling something on a white paper) Ensure you take along all your documents when you travel; your doctor’s letter, estimated costs, any prepayments you may have made, whatever. Just anything that can help you get in because you are going to have to show it at the border ME: Okay VO: Pick up your passport in 3 working days, I have just issued your visa (hands me the white paper) ME: Thank you
I'm so glad this phase is over. Counting down to July Please, I just sent you a pm or mail, (I'm new here) kindly reply. Thanks |

Though i got my visa before them and my husband and 1st baby went for visa interview after i arrived US. Surprisingly, the vo did not make an reference to my visa, just asked them if they were going for vacation and confirmed my husband's status at his place of work. More of what he wrote in the DS-160. Hello Debby, please how did the V.O confirm his status at his work place? Kindly she's more light pls. I just reapplied with hubby and listed him as my travel companion. |

customised87: This info is absolutely wrong. There is no crime in giving birth in the USA and no VO will refuse you for saying you are going to birth. Many people get medical visas everyday, its just for you to prove that you are prepared by getting Doc and hospital correspondences and also prove that you are financially capable. I got all the docs from the doctor and the hospital already including my own budget and even made an extra of 5k for miscellaneous purposes but she didn't even ask if I'd gotten a Dr. or not. She was just typing. |

borryworld: No. Your husband will have his own DS-160 separately and indicate yourselves as travelling companion. Ur husband should be the sponsor and u will need to attend the interview together o. Yes, that's what I mean, and since he's the sponsor, he'll be there to defend his financial statements himself, hopefully. Thanks dear |

borryworld: Correct. Make it look like a CV (Resume). Also, ensure it does not deviate from the initial form. Hope applying with my hubby this time is not me deviating from the initial form? |
