Matic did not cause no goal. The ball dropped in his vincinity with 3 players surrounding him and all he could do in that situation was attempt to backheel it in the air to get it away from danger which he missed. Any midfielder that attempted to control that ball will get dispossessed by those 3 players around him and would still get the blame. It's just one of those loose bouncing balls in midfield that you can't legislate for but to do what you can to get it away from the opponent.
