I stated it categorically clear this morning or yesterday, probably in response to Chelseafan1 I guess how Messi had won MOTM awards without scoring a goal, or sometimes even assisting. If you don't believe that, then there is no point going further with this convo.

If you stay where you are to ask me how an attacker can win MOTM awards without scoring, it would only make me wonder what kinda football you've been watching. Forget the trolling and all, but I've seen games Hazard gave MOTM performances without scoring or maybe just having an assist or even none at all. Attacker or not, the standard remains the same. Goal keepers win MOTM awards with attackers on the pitch. Hart won the MOTM award against Barcelona at the Camp Nuo some 2 seasons ago albeit they lost. That alone would tell you what it means to give MOTM performance and not have anything to do with scoring a goal or giving an assist. If that of Hart doesn't drive home my point, then sorry about the whole convo. Maybe you should leave me to wallow in my foolish and nonsensical thought of a player (attacker) giving MOTM performance without G+A.

I case my rest.
A simple question then you go typing epistles.....giving ridiculous examples like it will change the fact that you can't defend or explain how an attacking player gives a masterclass performance without scoring or assisting.

Bros in your words, what is a masterclass performance and how can an attacker give one without scoring or assisting? I didn't ask you to give me yeye examples!

Kindly note the following:

Your first response to my question ended with you questioning my knowledge of footie.

Your second attempt at answering my question turned into a spectacle of blowing plenty grammar, saying plenty nothing while in the process questioning my knowledge of footie.

I am beginning to believe some guys here just like to blow or use beautiful rubbish and unnecesary words to express themselves, especially one they cannot defend.

Truth is, motm goes to any player with an outstanding performance after a match. The players must first be outstanding in their primary duty or duties while doing the little extras to come top. This is my own understanding. If you think I am wrong please do well to say so.

Now back to the examples you gave earlier;

Hart must have won motm for pulling extraordinary saves while keeping a respectable scoreline. It could also be that he provided an assist for an equalizer,i don't know. I can not remember the match so I can't say. But, I am sure when you take a look at is rating for the match you will find why he won it.

When a DM wins motm, it will be because he has done well in is primary duty of shielding the backline from attack. It is the same thing when any player from the backline executes their primary duty or duties perfectly. Scoring or assisting during a match can also help them win even if it is not their primary duty but them doing the little extras.

The attackers are majorly on the field of play to score goals and assist, any extras like helping out defensively is a plus.

These are basic things of football we all can at least agree on.

To say the truth, I asked my question earlier not because I wanted to call you out so we can argue or put down any of your players or the point you were trying to make; I asked simply because I was curious when I saw an attacker can be motm without scoring or assisting and wanted to learn from your opinion. I wanted to find out from you how the attacker can win a motm without scoring or assisting. I was hoping you had explain what you meant by a master class performance instead you decided to serve me with empty arrogant replies.

Bro if you like, you can respond in a civil manner to explain or defend your claim but out of respect for your wish, this will surely be my last post to you on this matter as you have asked that I leave you to wallow in your foolish and nonsensical thought of a player (attacker) giving MOTM performance without G+A.

Have a good day sir.

Iniesta getting MOTM in finals, was he the one that scored in those finals? Even for the world cup, he wasn't given the MOTM just because he scored, he was given for the masterclass performance. I thought people knew how well to watch football. I guess I overestimated many people's abilities in understanding footie.
Bros I asked a simple and genuine question out of curiosity, which one be the epistle and pepper body? Instead of throwing tantrums and questioning why I asked, why not start by telling us how an attacking player gives a masterclass performance without scoring or assisting?

Kindly note that you don't have to be ultra defensive because you think I want to attack your players. I specifically used the word attacker to avoid the whole drama attached to calling out any of your players..

I only want to read your defence of how an attacking player can give a masterclass performance without scoring and assisting. If it is too much for you to answer without throwing snide remarks and shades perhaps you should pretend you never saw my question to start with and we can move on. Thank you.

I hated Enrique's pattern of football from the first day... The fact that he rotated like a dunce a lot of times, annoyed me the most.. But I didn't voice out because the trophies came, we beat Madrid convincingly, we won matches that proved difficult for us, even under pep..

But the reason we're Barça, I wasn't seeing that on the pitch.. If I dared speak on this thread, I know the number of football professors who would've shut me up..

When I said Munir shouldn't have been sent away, one genius gave me a million reasons why he should've been sent.. And the genius also said, and I quote "Paco is light years ahead of Munir"... Where's the Paco now?

Roberto who was impressing in midfield, they moved him to RB, and he was makeshift.. I warned that we needed a natural RB, but another genius said Roberto was good enough, we have Vidal too and there's not much a natural RB can offer, that Roberto can't offer..

The squad depth we once bragged about. Where is it??

We have a coach who can't use certain players.. Reserve team playing like shooting stars of Ibadan.

At 29, and almost 30.. Messi is our greatest hope.. When he doesn't play, we panic like kids on a first time rollercoaster ride. Our midfield is nothing short of shambolic.

Even without Ronaldo, bale, and benzema, Madrid can beat a team and do it perfectly..

When I say i can't see the collective brilliance anymore, people refer to trophies asif we're wailers.

Pffft.. Whatever happens from now.. I won't be able to predict, but I want Enrique to leave, he has done enough..

You don't have to score a goal or make an assist just to prove your immense contribution in a team. That's the major difference between Messi and Ronaldo. If Ronaldo doesn't score or assist, then he becomes more useless than the 'b' in lamb. But Messi displays MOTM performances without scoring or assisting. Neymar has done so a couple of times this season too.

Meanwhile, tomorrow you will tell me goals or assists shouldn't be the parameters or yardstick, but here you are... Smh
If an attacking player don't need to score or provide an assist to display motm performance, please what else can the player do to have a motm performance?

Of course.

I actually agree with Dayo on this issue though. Toure was out of the team until Gundogan forced Pep's hand. Kompany is fit, but Pep is not playing him. Aguero has been dropped, and last night Fernandinho played Left Back.

Pep is actively trying to phase out the older players in the team. I remember after the last West Ham game, he was saying point out how important it was that his front three were very young and as such had the energy to beat the first line of West Ham's press.

Of course, Dayo is a dodgy criminal, but he has a good point here. Pep himself has been emphasising the age factor in his recent comments
Nihilist it is one thing for Pep to want younger players but another thing to claim any player who is 30 and above is useless.

Pep may want young players but we also have a manager in mou who prefers older players. It is strictly based on managers perspective of what he wants in a squad and not age factor as clearly stated by dayo.

It will also interest you to know that out of Peps 5 or 6 signings we have at least two players of 30 and above.

And don't tell me pace has to do with age bcuz Valencia, ronaldo and co will surely give them a run for their money.

Lastly, you and I will agree that the aguero issue is not something most coaches will risk handling the way Pep has gone about it.

I shall no go fit agree with dayo on top this matter.

Pep is actively trying to reduce the age profile of ManCity though.
It is normal for clubs to bring in young and fresh legs which I don't have a problem with.

What is not normal is dayos reckless claim. A player can be 30,31,32 and still be balling hard. Having a bunch of or a couple of 30 plus players won't automatically translate into a team being poor and that is my cross with dayos claim.

So when you added mangala to your list, did you do dat because he was old? Or bony who was atop striker before joining manCity.

You cannot afford to be selective especially when you make bold declaration.

You actually want us to believe bcuz certain city players are in their 30s dey are also automatically useless which is not the case.

I see lahm playing as a right back for Ur club and I am yet to read anywhere you called him useless. Alonso, robben and co.,you haven't called them useless for being over 30years of age. Why right off all 30+ players in city?

Same Yaya you wrote off,pep can't do without. Silva you wrote off,pep can not do without. Same goes for kolarov, n co.

Please, even if I can agree that age do affect everyone at some point, I will never agree to your claim that once a player is 30 and above the player automatically becomes useless. I won't agree because all players have their football life span which is different from one another.

I won't agree because I have witnessed players achieve greatness or do great things at 30 and above.

Before Pep came to City, Mangalas fate was already decided and even Pellergin who bought him,i gave up on him,

The point is before Conte Chelseas buys were useful buys which is why they can line up an 11 with 10 of them under 30. Of the current Chelsea 11 only 3 were Conte buys. That means the team was already stacked with good players.

While Citys buys before Pep were mostly useless thats why no matter how you try the team will always be filled with retirees. 4 full backs all over 30 in a position that requires a lot of mobility. Thats poor squad planning from City and Pep isnt going to fix that in a window

When City in the past 3 yrs was blowing money on Bony Negredo, Mangala Lampard Demichelis etc. Looks like there are even more Mancini(who left 4yrs ago) buys left in City than Pellegrini(who left less than a year ago) buys.

WHoever conducted transfers in the days of Pellegrini just wasted money and didnt give the team a chance
Cuadrado, Hector, djablahblahblah, filipe Luiz, baba Rahman, etc. If I choose to move a year further , I am sure we will get to see more useless signings by CFC.

Meanwhile, what is stopping you from making similar excuse for Wenger/arsenal, liverpool/klopp, manUnited/mou, ven Sunderland/Moyes etc I hope you get to see the picture....?

2. Aside age, the wingers at City are unproductive, if you are playing 4-3-3 the 3 in front needs to be goal threats, Jesus Navas with 8 goals in 4 seasons isnt, Nolito is. So Nolito is an upgrade already over Navas
I am sure you will find a way to delete Bravo's name from your post below;

Most of these Demichelis, Negredo, Bony Jovetic, Mangala were already certified wastes before Pep got there, If you want to blame anyone for those its on Pellegrini

WHile Contes predecessors were getting young players who after 3 seasons are still useful, Peps predecessors were filling the team with Bony, Negredo, Demichelis, Mangala, Sagna, Fernando, Lampard

Mourinho had a spending monopoly in Europe at his first reign, No club could match or come close to Chelsea spending between 03 and 06

Nowadays PSG, United, Barca Madrid, Chelsea all EPL clubs and even China has more more to compete for talents than they did under Mourinho

A millionaire in Ajegunle will shine more than a millionaire in VGC
It is too early to start chatting rubbish dayo! Negrodo and jovetic were long gone. And, stop hammering on demichelis like your life depends on it. He was hardly playing even before Pep came in.

Luiz a certified wasteman according you, was purchased at almost 30years of age by conte yet he is doing great. Its a well known facts that age doesnt affect keepers they way they affect outfield players because players dont move a lot

Nolito was bought to have a goal scoring winger. And reduce the goal scoring load on the central striker, Navas wasnt going to score any, Navas has played 4 seasons at City and has 8 goals Nolito in half a season has 6 goals already. So replacing Navas wit Nolito was a no brainer

So like 7up says the difference is clear
I am not surprised you are only realizing this well known fact today. I am indeed happy for you.

Why buy nolito of 30years if age is the issue to start with? Are you saying god Pep couldn't find a Jesus age kind of player to do that for him? Remember we are meant to reduce the age bracket to that of CFC for them to be able to compete again according to you, so why buy a 30years old?

Peps change in City is in progress he is gradually trying to reduce the age of the squad. Their attack his getting younger. Whats left is to buy 2 young full backs, a young DM

See the team Conte inherited you can see young players all Under 30yrs currently bought within the last 3yrs who are still contributing like Pedro, Matic, Costa, Fabregas, etc Thats why Conte can field a starting 11 with like 9-10 under 30yrs

Compare that to City, their recent buys include Mangala, Negredo, Bony, Lampard, Fernando Jovetic Demichelis Navas have either been sold off or arent useful anymore. The rest are older and would need to be replaced soon

Most of their purchases in those Pellegrini years save for those bought last season (Sterling, KdB and Otamendi) are wastes
I have never seen you make excuses for transfers gone bad for any order team except Mancity. How far west is the wind blowing today and to what extent are you willing to descend to prove this your fickle theory as right?

Spurs should be running away with the league and not Chelsea, dont you think so? Perhaps it should be arsenal or manU or liverpool etc.

Nolito and Sane are the competition for the wings where they had Navas and Steling, Gundogan was the Yaya replacement,

Age doesnt count for keepers like they do for outfield players, most keepers barely move throughout the game thats why a Buffon and a VDS can keep into their late 30's. Neuer is considered young and hes over 30, Zoff was still winning trophies in his 40s
It is good you deemed it fit to remove keepers this time around, perhaps the wind blew west ?
