I asked this question because i believe in collective research(and this have helped a lot of similar traveling threads on NL),pple that i've asked b4 thought i was lazy to use google but that's not the case. You might have come across a cheaper school even with a similar course i wanted or maybe in a city that i will like to stay.

How feasible is it ?
What is it like registering a business ?
What is the cost ?
Is the environment business friendly to foreigners ?

If their counterparts in other countries are writg textbooks in mainstream programming languages alongside keepg their jobs wat does does a nigerian lecturer have to say?
The languages in use are over 40+yrs old. You cant get current textbooks on them. How old must it b in a fast changg field where new languages are created evry year and updated every month (in some case)?
Students shud push against this crap theyre being spoonfed.

Java is almost 20 years old. Scala almost 8, clojure around 6, c++ almost 30,python 24 . How long would it take a lecturer to learn a mainstream langauge enuff to teach it and upgrade a mouldy curriculum?

Most textbooks in the Nigerian Universities are ebooks found online, they will print it as is, without any edits, and put their passport at the back with their biography and claim they wrote the book.

In most of the text books, you'll see watermarked images as the front image

Infact, it was so weird that there was an exact textbook used in UNN and also used in ESUT but with differient back covers and differient authors


All these so called textbooks are sold between 1500 and 3000. The students must buy it because the lecturer will give you a mark for it. Infact, the earlier you buy the higher the mark

When you buy the textbook, you'll receive a serial number. You must write the serial number on assignment and quiz you write, else, it won't be marked

Man, this is gross incompetence, something's needs to be done about it . It can't continue this way.

Maybe he or she doesn't understand the intricacies of such language, let alone introducing it into the curriculum. This is why schools in Naija are backdated when it comes to CS. Even as a lecturer, one needs to keep learning.

Naijalastborn: none Nigeria embassy can issue the MVV again.. the only west african country that is equipped for it its Ghana as of last year. If you apply through other country it has to goto Accra Embassy when you get the sticker you go see place of issue "Accra"

It's alright.... Planning on moving to Ghana to undertake some courses. So it will be easy for me to monitor.

Naijalastborn: Keep track on your application yourself when they give you days to come for interview or collection or anything that as to do with you Application whatsoever, Keep calling them asked about your application process don't be shy or scared to asked them what is going on. I used Cotonou believe I travel over night to Cotonou just to got correct error made by the embassy so many experience. Just keep track don't just sit and say yes I have submitted the application and keep calm.. must staff doesn't know what to do. Get their emails get all their numbers.

Naijalastborn: The Mvv can only be issued at Ghana Embassy started last year. Just don't keep calm with those people. . The staffs doesn't know anything.

I just wish their embassy in Abuja still dealt with visas. This Ghana business is long thing.

Ik09: Just general incompetence. The (Ghanaian) lady who attended to me didn't know what I was applying for, and kept saying my documents were incomplete. Even when I showed her a printout from the IND website listing the requirements. Instead she was asking me non-pertinent questions like 'how come I have a UK entry/exit stamp in my passport, but no UK visa on it'.

They kept my passport for a week for verification (so I was stuck in Ghana) and didn't bother calling me when it got back from the Regional support office. When I called to ask, I was dismissed by the person on the phone without them verifying if I could get it back.

They were supposed to provide me with payment instructions at the embassy. This is according to the email I later got from someone at IND. The people at Accra told me otherwise.

I'll make a more detailed post when the application process is complete. For now, my main concern is for this to be over.

I applied around 6wks ago. I only came in contact with their Ghanaian staff.

Take it easy bro. Since you have forwarded your fees and documents to the school and applied to IND, you don't have much to explain to the Ghanaian staff : what is her position at the embassy ?

Just stay connected directly with the IND and main consul at the Dutch Embassy : who would actually be a Dutch right ?

Keep us updated, at least so we can learn one or two things from you.

Ik09: Does anyone know if you need to make an appointment at the Accra embassy for them to put the MVV sticker in your passport?

I applied for a residence permit, but it should be the same procedure for study permits too. Hopefully I should get a positive decision from IND sometime in August. Seeing as you can only get appointments 4 weeks ahead, I was thinking if I should book one just in case.

From my experience there when I went to apply, the embassy staff are probably the most incompetent and arrogant set of people I've ever met, and they can't seem to give me a straight answer.
