shakol91: na so bro. I see you're still on admission/visa stuff Pls i'll like us to share school info together plus interested individuals following this thread. do u have an idea of schools with average tuition fee for m.sc. I asked this question because i believe in collective research(and this have helped a lot of similar traveling threads on NL),pple that i've asked b4 thought i was lazy to use google but that's not the case. You might have come across a cheaper school even with a similar course i wanted or maybe in a city that i will like to stay.Bros, check out The Hague University of Applied Sciences.... Most University of Applied Sciences are cheaper with applicable courses. |
@marioxbenita50 Congrats . Wish you a safe journey to the kingdom of the Netherlands. We are coming to join you guys ![]() |
As I prepare to embark on a journey to go undertake certain IT courses in Ghana, I am contemplating on starting and doing a business while I engage in that. For those with experience ... How feasible is it ? What is it like registering a business ? What is the cost ? Is the environment business friendly to foreigners ? My aim is to set up a shop on Digital services/Computer Bookshop/Accessories/Services Please kindly advice on these and I will know how to package myself. Peace and thanks in advance. |
asalimpo: There is no excuse for this other thn laziness and apathy.Bros I wonder oo, you just laid the facts.Students need to write petition against this, if they truly want to be on par with their counterparts. The Tech world keeps changing, students should look beyond classroom teaching and acquire relevant skills on their own or from international IT institutes to meet up with change. |
spikesC: I got the opportunity to lay my hands on the internet and web design handout.Man, this is gross incompetence, something's needs to be done about it . It can't continue this way. |
It's very real. I experienced it. It is spiritual in nature but can also be proven scientifically. |

asalimpo: there's everythg wrong with teachg Basic. EvRY THING WRONG.Maybe he or she doesn't understand the intricacies of such language, let alone introducing it into the curriculum. This is why schools in Naija are backdated when it comes to CS. Even as a lecturer, one needs to keep learning. |
Actually, its a good move to concentrate your effort on one platform. |

As per industry preference, a detailed analysis was done... You can check it out http://www.claystech.com/hybrid-mobile-webapp-tips/are-these-the-programming-languages-of-the-future-this-rankings-says-much/ |
Eight out of the top 10 universities now use Python to introduce programming, a researcher has found Python has surpassed Java as the top language used to introduce U.S. students to programming and computer science, according to a recent survey posted by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Eight of the top 10 computer science departments now use Python to teach coding, as well as 27 of the top 39 schools, indicating that it is the most popular language for teaching introductory computer science courses, according to Philip Guo, a computer science researcher who compiled the survey for ACM. The three largest, most popular online class providers -- Coursera, edX and Udacity -- also offer introductory programming courses in Python, Guo found. Python has been growing in popularity in the educational realm for at least the past few years, though this survey is the first to show it has eclipsed Java, which has been the dominant teaching language for the past decade, Guo said in a blog post about his survey. Guo admitted that he is a Python enthusiast -- he has developed a popular tool, called Online Python Tutor, to teach programming. Sensing the rise of Python's popularity as a teaching aid, Guo surveyed introductory computer science courses at the top 39 U.S. universities, as ranked each year by U.S. News and World Report. Java is frequently used in high school advanced courses, so the transition to Java in college is a natural one for students. A number of universities, however, have switched to Python from Java, and others offer both -- Java for computer science students and Python to teach programming skills for noncomputer science majors. In order to prepare students for the working world, most schools use a language for novices that is widely used in industry. This is how C++ and Java came to supplant Pascal, a popular language for teaching programming in the 1980s. Python possesses a mix of qualities that makes it a good candidate for universities. It has a simpler syntax than Java or C++, allowing novices to start writing programs almost immediately. At the same time, it can be scaled up for heavy industrial usage -- it is widely used in the financial community for data analysis, for instance. Although informal, such a survey can be valuable, in that the language used to teach computer science can influence how students will come to view programming in their professional years, Guo said. Surveying the top universities can also reveal broader trends in education. Other popular languages for teaching include MatLab, a mathematically oriented language often used to introduce scientists and engineers to programming. MatLab, however, seems to be increasingly supplanted by Java. Older, and arguably more-difficult-to-learn, languages such as C and C++ are still used as well, though increasingly they are being taught alongside Java and Python. Also seemingly ebbing in influence are functional programming languages based on Scheme, which have long held sway at a small but ardent number of computer science departments. Schools such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of California, Berkeley, however, have phased out Scheme in favor of Python. http://www.itworld.com/software/426242/python-bumps-java-top-learning-language

marioxbenita50: Is unfortunate that this thread is moving backwards, anyway please houz I need an advice on hw to process my documents in ghana. The IND has approved my visa so I have to summit my application in ghana next week. my question is how many days will it take them 2 access my documents b4 stamping my passport? Secondly, will they interview me based on the whole stuff, and will I have 2 pay for the MVV visa...lastly I dnt have anybody in ghana...Congratulations on your visa approval. The thread will live on for prospective applicant. Though, it seems few people aspire to study in the Netherlands. Naijalastborn : what a gwam man ? How is the summer kicking...... |
Ashantiking: No one want a Nigerian in their country. U will choke on the air of democracy. Anarchy is all you know.I smell raw hate. Fellow Nairalanders : How do Nigerians in Ghana cope with this ? |
imperioux: Abject poverty can cause people to start boiling stones like yams for food. That's the case of the ghanaians, so why won't they throw away their roots?May God not allow us experience this. It's not as if their newly adopted homeland is paved with gold, you still have to work for the good life, pay taxes and tolerate discrimation through your live. Dignity is the ultimate. |
How can I denounce my root. Even if I were to naturalized in another country, I will still stay in touch with my root. |

With the advent of cloud computing inclusive of : Software as a Service Platform as a Service Infrastructure as a Service Desktop as a Service What will really matter in personal computer hardware will be the CPU and GPU.... |
Hmm, this is interesting. Cloud Computing is more or less a concept for now, as it continues to build steam, a full program would be set up. To get a Headstart, look into going for : MCSA MCSE MCSM All public/public cloud focused.... Check out www.rackspace.com cloud computing certificate courses. |
andromida:I get your point . In fact, I admire your outspoken nature . I was just being goofy So, How was your night ? |
andromida: Yes dear. That advice you initially gave eeh, I have been trying to balance things and make it an anthem in any of my relationships ... This is why I keep myself busy.I don't mind making you my honey oooh, hope say you don mature kakaraka - I like them milf/cougars ![]() Do you mind if I PM you ? |
andromida: This is exactly how you get friend zoned - showing signs? what does that even mean? Why not asking for what you wantCan you be the only honey in my tea ? |
andromida: If a man makes a woman the center of his life, and has no purpose outside the relationship she will most likely come to disrespect him, maybe despise him. A woman will always love a good man who keeps his sense of self, accepts or rejects not tolerate nonsense behavior, has a purpose other than the relationship and is successful in his worldly pursuit.Food for thought ![]() |
Naijalastborn: none Nigeria embassy can issue the MVV again.. the only west african country that is equipped for it its Ghana as of last year. If you apply through other country it has to goto Accra Embassy when you get the sticker you go see place of issue "Accra"It's alright.... Planning on moving to Ghana to undertake some courses. So it will be easy for me to monitor. |
Naijalastborn: Keep track on your application yourself when they give you days to come for interview or collection or anything that as to do with you Application whatsoever, Keep calling them asked about your application process don't be shy or scared to asked them what is going on. I used Cotonou believe I travel over night to Cotonou just to got correct error made by the embassy so many experience. Just keep track don't just sit and say yes I have submitted the application and keep calm.. must staff doesn't know what to do. Get their emails get all their numbers. Thanks boss....I will follow up. Besides my coming is next year, so I have enough time to track and disturb them ![]() |
Naijalastborn: The Mvv can only be issued at Ghana Embassy started last year. Just don't keep calm with those people. . The staffs doesn't know anything. Thanks for the info boss.... So what do you suggest we applicants do to sideline the staffs and avoid confrontation ? |
Ik09: Thanks, I definitely will. I'm not going for study though, I'm going to work.Ahh I see... Wish you the best...Did you inquire from their Abuja Embassy ? |
Ik09: Just general incompetence. The (Ghanaian) lady who attended to me didn't know what I was applying for, and kept saying my documents were incomplete. Even when I showed her a printout from the IND website listing the requirements. Instead she was asking me non-pertinent questions like 'how come I have a UK entry/exit stamp in my passport, but no UK visa on it'.Take it easy bro. Since you have forwarded your fees and documents to the school and applied to IND, you don't have much to explain to the Ghanaian staff : what is her position at the embassy ? Just stay connected directly with the IND and main consul at the Dutch Embassy : who would actually be a Dutch right ? Keep us updated, at least so we can learn one or two things from you. |
Ik09: Does anyone know if you need to make an appointment at the Accra embassy for them to put the MVV sticker in your passport? What experience and when did you apply ? |
spikesC: hmmmmm, this one is strong. You are the one that is contradicting yourself without being specific.. Your best bet was to copy and paste from Wikipedia. Why didn't you elaborate in your own words and technical knowledge.... If my info is so sketchy, why did you pick on it : why not advice him on the ones you invented Look down and help yourself first... If you are so keen on IT. Why haven't you developed the next Google ...Real guys in IT lifts each other up.... Not show off for nothing ![]() If you don't know what new IT is - Abeg don't show me nonsense. Park well bros ![]() |
spikesC: First of all, lets get one thing straight. The OP is asking about Database Administration not about data analysis. He specifically asked for New Database Languages to learn and not necessarily Database Administration per say... They are of different approach..... Database/Lanaguages concepts are intertwined... They are being streamlined everyday. If you think New IT is a joke... In few years time, you will still be singing same Kumbayah song Abegi, IT changes everyday..In fact, no typical IT professional will tell you they are perfect. No body sabi pass...So stop sounding like say you be IBM pikin a.k.a Watson ![]() And please, don't always rely on Wikipedia for steady knowledge, especially the role of IT that changes everyday ![]() |
spikesC: BigData has relatively nothing to do with database administration.Hmm, see this Cyborg ooo ![]() How can you say Big data has nothing to do with Database ? Are you really serious ? Why do they have the shared word 'data' in between them. Is it not as a result of big-data that Tech companies are shifting to Cloud computing/Storage ? Cordova being a mobile development framework : isn't database included in the mix ? Tell me one app/website that doesn't have to do with storing data ? Even if NoSql were influenced by Sql, at least, they are being improved and differentiated for a purpose and that is for Big data sake... Guy widen your net. IT is changing fundamentally. In fact, it is now termed the New IT ![]() |
