Naija_lastborn: Permanent permit after school I can't verified how true is this or not but I think its not true because at first the permit you will be given is Temporarily and which it can be renewed after period of time that will covered your time been spend in the countryWell thanks. I shall look more into it, especially on IND website..... Don't forget to drop those materials at your convenience.... |
Naija_lastborn: in my own small opinion I will go for Netherlands the reason its that Economy in Greece is not that stable and they are not friendly with foreigner, I have seen well enough of documentaries about that. But thing that I see with Greece is the tution fee and some other expenses that might be cheaper compared to NetherlandsYou make a very good point. I think I will stick to the Netherlands, since the difference in tuition fee and some other expenses is not that much. Despite that, the minimum wage in the Netherlands would be better than Greece cause of the stronger economy. You didn't say anything about the permit stuff... Hope am not overwhelming you.... |
Naija_lastborn: There is alot of school that offer alot of course in IT. About the language its very hard to find a study centre for it Nigeria. But the only help I can render to you, its to share some materials with you and other people who are interested in learning the language.. Keep in mind Dutch is one of the difficulty language to learn even if you live here for years, you might not be able to speak it fluently. Thanks for the detailed response. Jah Bless.... As for IT courses, I am already into it, I teach myself as well as take courses on the side. In fact, I am planning on going to India later this year or early next year for 3 months to update myself on Computer Networking and Security. I already got admission to study Mechatronics Engineering in the Netherlands, but since it is not a well established field in Nigeria and Africa at large, I switched to Software Engineering......I understand they said, the number of years spent studying is counted for Permanent Residency : How true is this ? As per the language, since it is of Germanic origin with Latin characters, it will be easy to grasp and besides I could take language courses on the side while there. I once was in Belarus, and despite the Russian language being of different characters and pronunciation, I could speak and write it within 3 months, though we studied it at university level...... Nevertheless, between I have the opportunity to gain admission in Greece. If you were to advice on Studying in Greece Vs Netherlands : which would you advice for and why ? |
Naija_lastborn: Hahhaha abi now?Bros, how far na.... it's been a while... What's kicking in the Netherlands...Hope all is well with you... my sights are still on that place ooo... It's gonna be next year sept sha... coming for studies... shed lights on social life/jobs... I am looking to update my skills on Computer Hardware, Networking and Security before then..... Meanwhile, finding a Dutch school to learn the language is proving a headache......Do you have any Generic materials to familiarize myself with about The Netherlands on different subject matters ?.... |
Hmmm, can you imagine how this thread was back-dated ? Abi boko cyber boys don hijack Nairaland.... Hmmm, there is God ooooo |
Whatever you choose to do, make sure you are passionate about the subject/skill. Let it seem as if you are rendering a favor in the form of hobby, thereby benefiting monetarily from it as well. It will shape your experience and help you grow in the long run. I have come to understand that what we choose to do, most times, tends to relate personality and view of life, to achieve the desired result we wish for. If otherwise, the reverse is usually the case. Meanwhile, since you wish to study industrial chemistry , then you could be on the right track, as per your skill choice. Best of luck |
It's alright fellows, all sent... |

Dondave11: Nice reply [at] digitite. It's alright. Expect it later |

rapsodeep: My fellow NLders who have knowledge on Core ICT. Please I have a few questions to ask you. Am a novice in d whole ICT stuff and don't want to remain as I am (New year's resolution), so help me out.1. You must not study CS/CE to learn and grasp web programming/ design concept. You can aquire this knowledge as long as you are motivated, dedicated and focused. Studying and practicalizing on your own is essential in making you proficient in this ever evolving, enterprising and interesting field. Moreover, staying abreast with the latest web technology - it's always changing - is vital in keeping you competitive in the industry. 2. The knowledge of Maths is not a compulsory pre-requsite in learning these. However, Maths makes one logical. And Logic is essential in shaping you into a good web programmer/ designer. 3. ICT is a growing industry. For you to be a so called Guru, you must be passionate about it and eager to continue learning, which some Nigerians find irritating. Therefore, the statistics is in the moderate level. 4. I love challenging subjects in part with artistry and fundamental science. To put it simply, creativity enriches my soul. So this makes me curious to continue learning. I am still a work in progress though, in the field. 5. Of course, you can use your family PC. Nevertheless, it should be up to date with an effective Operating system like windows 7 and latest browser. This is important, because as web development technology changes and improves, OP/Browser compatibility is crucial in keeping your websites efficient. 6. Your academic brilliance plays a role in whatever subject you choose to do. If you are passionate about your choosen field of study/work and also see it more like fun than a job that fetches money, it helps. When you go into certain technical fields or others for that matter, Money shouldn't come first or you could end up frustrated. 7. You will be identified as a 'geek' before you know it. In fact, what is that? Is being a geek a social status? Haha.. Meanwhile, such identity doesn't hurt. 8. The languages and terminologies are not hard. But as you know in life, nothing truly important comes easy. You have to have your way around them by devicing an easy method of study and GOOD BOOKS by experienced authors in the Web development industry to stay in line with solid developers as you have in the more established and developed western countries. 9. You must not necessarily have 247 access to the internet. You can code and test it on a browser without internet. You only need internet when you are uploading your finished work on to a server and hosting it. 10. Perseverance and Patience is the key. With the widespread use of Computer devices/internet of things including mobile phones, security, houehold items like TV, machines and so on.. It is lucrative industry. And if you happen to come up with a good idea that people like, you could be a MADE millionaire / billionaire before you know it. I hope this gives you an insight on your step ahead. Drop you email, I shall forward you an E-book for starters. Jah Bless |

Divergent: Have you heard of the Enspire tech hub (@enspireATV)? They're trying to create a community of techies in Abuja and although they're relatively new, they're doing a good job. Give them a shout.Where do they converge? |
Of course. Too much of everything is bad. Always strive to create a balance. |
DONOCSO: For the purpose of uplifting our programming and developing life in abuja, to enhance our public confidence, create business opportunities, build small scale enterprises, encourage vocational skills development in different programming language, enable an environment that support innovation and a city were our dreams can come true in a manner pleasing to God.How sure that it would hold? I wouldn't want to spend transport money and see nothing happening. |
Well, I have got this idea and business skills, but not the time at the moment to implement it. I am at your reach. My number is on my signature. |
This is: cool. I just came into ABJ town. Subscribing to this thread. Web technology changes. Actually my focus is on mobile websites/application development. As desktop computers decline and goes out of fashion. The advent of various mobile devices, that comes with updated and sophisticated features, is changing the ecosystem/landscape of web development. Rapid adoption of these smart devices by consumers is breeding a new approach in this ever dynamic field. With the widespread usage, the new technology in developing websites /applications is tinkering toward mobile. New area of focus are: HTML 5: Hypertext Markup Language CSS 3 : Cascading Style Sheet 3 CSS3 Media Queries Javascript Jquery Mobile Ajax HTML DOM MySQL PHP Don't become obsolete by old technology. If you need latest books/E-books to keep you on the same level with top tech geeks. Holla at me. I will recommend great books by authors with vast experience in the industry worldwide. The best modem would depend on the telecommunication Mast closest to your vicinity. If it's MTN or Etisalat or Glo, then the network would be sharp, etc. This is what you need to confirm. Don't go and buy a modem based on reference, whereby the mast is located hundred's of kilometers away from you. |
taiwodare: Your mindset should be right, get your mindset in a positive light... Is a cliche but the power is still there. Many are not succeeding online and in many ventures because they want free cakes and one straight answer to their problems and or making money online. You spoke well and made a lot of sense. It needs a strategy and if one is keen on it, you can clock six figures. The iwriter does not have a lot of job postings. |
lowisz: I have. Interest, the problem is that u are not in lagos.Oh well, this is a new world. You can do business or trade outside of your state without seeing the person eye on eye. The issue is Trust. However, if you are really keen on it, let me know how you can make arrangement to pick it up or you pay 60% of the cost, when it gets to you via Chisco CTN courier or any other delivery method of your choice, you pay up the remaining 40%. Fear of God, good reputation online and offline is far better than playing tricks. |

It's fairly used. The brand is Fijitsu- Siemens( I bought it directly from the company abroad, during my computer training program. It works perfectly well. The charge is very much okay, but the battery is dead. Battery in the market should be around #5000 naira. I am given it away at #30,000. Price is negotiable for students.
