Nigeria minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has begged federal university workers as they did not no respond quick to their demand.

This is coming as the eight-week strike extension by the Academic Staff Union of University will end on the 9th of May 2022.

However, no clear end to the lingering strike action on ground.

The permanent secretary ministry of Education, Andrew David Adejo who said this on behalf of Minister of education Adamu on Thursday.

He represented the education minister at the meeting which Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige called to resolve the strike issue

Adejo told leaders of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non Academic Staff Union that the ministry did not abandon their issues.

ASUU extended their strike by eight more weeks

He pleased that the striking workers should forgive the ministry. The appeal is coming as university lecturers union - ASUU strike remain unresolved.

He added that with the social issues that the strike action caused, it is better for them to sit down and resolve the matter.

This is how students can go back to school. Already university students have carried out demonstrations demanding an end to the strike

Both SSANU and NASU have been on nationwide strike for almost one month now to pressure government to implement what they agreed on paper.

The spokesman for the Joint Action Committee of SSANU and NASU, Adeyemi Peters said there is hope in the apology from the ministry of education and it is genuine.

And they are ready to implement their agreement, Peters add.

University unions strike has paralysed all academic and non-academic activities in all public universities in Nigeria.

ASUU latest strike suppose end on di 9th of May 2022.

However, no clear end to the lingering warning strike action which is on ground.

Negotiation between both government and ASUU delegates is now on standstill as both parties blame each other for the ongoing strike.

University lecturers went on strike on the 14th of February and later extended it by 8 weeks on the 14th of March, 2022.

They down tools to press home their demand which border on welfare, approval of their own payment system UTAS instead of the government own which is IPPIS.

And then the implementation of the 2009 agreement.

They claim that the government has decided to abandon negotiation and refuse to pay their salary.

Why UK remove Ipob/Massob Supporters from Asylum protection status

UK government has updated the Nigerian Asylum exclusions on part of there website to state that the asylum status and humanitarian protection will not include violent pro-Biafra groups.

The groups include the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) and Movemment for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (Massob).

According to the update which reflected on the 3rd of May 2022, in line with the 1951 Refugee Convention "Persons who commit human rights violations will not get asylum".
The article described IPOB as "terrorist group as proscribed by the Nigerian Government" while it described MASSOB as "banned but not a proscribed terrorist group in Nigeria".

IPOB has in recent months, weeks been linked with Many violence against security forces.

They have also been linked with violence against civilians in the South East region of Nigeria since January 2021.
