Literature › Introducing Top 10 Stories Of The Week ( Nomination Thread) by Divepen1(mod):
Every weekend, a thread would be made sticky at the top. This thread would contain the top 10 stories of the week.
One of them would be moderator's pick. The others would be 9 would be picked by your nominations.

So, all you have to do is to drop the title and link( if possible, a summary of the story) of your best story of the week here.. Authors can nominate themselves too

1. The first 9 would be picked.

2. The top story would be made sticky for a whole week( monday- Friday)

N.B: Stories that put all the essentials have higher chances of being chosen.

oya mey we go

So a lot of writers a MIA and it's high time we got information about them. We are not only building a forum here, we are also building a community of Nigerian writers.

So if you have any writer missing in actions, the mod would try to give us information about them. And if you have questions about them, you can always drop it here..

Let's go..

I know but we can't complain smiley

We just need to make the literature section the place to be.

The other thing could be fear of plagiarism; why rush to complete when someone will rip off your work as their own.
Well making it a place to be requires a lot of creative idea.
The other thing is just reorientation.

That is true JeffreyJamez i do see where you are coming from. Creativity can't be rushed sometimes.
I agree six months is optimal, if you lose your muse hopefully that is enough time to find it grin

One story caught my eye when I first stumbled upon nairaland it still isn't finished after 3 years smiley
But I always go back to it .

Divepen1 over to you
Hmm.. This is pathetic .. God will help us.

While I appreciate the sentiment, regarding incomplete stories. Some or most people have a day job. As a few people have mentioned we don't have authors in residence that get paid.

But I will say I appreciate the people who took the time to put fingers to keyboard. In spite of everything going on in your lives you still write.

Don't be too harsh please. Just my thoughts.
This is really good.

Nice work.. You should have posted it at Literature Section..
I'll move it for you.

And try to put gaps in your works. like the Dialogue etc..

Meanwhile, it's hard to keep writing with few comments. Kudos.

We can agree that it would be impossible to have your post make front page or even stay in the Literature section.

But every three days, the literature moderators would be sticking Three Adverts To The Top

1. A Writer's Advert
2. An Author's Advert
3. And A Call For Writers

While we are still trying to figure out a best way to decide who goes next, advice and comments would be appreciated.

Gracias

Hi everyone. Today, I've joined my Boss, Obinnau, in making this section a place worthy of visiting.
So in order to rebrand this section, the first step is to discuss what can be done to improve this place..

I'll so much appreciate your contributions.

Those are not contemporary writers anymore.
It appears you need to check up what contemporary means.

A News

I was just going through my feeds on facebook yesterday when i saw this post which read "It so sad that the incompetence of one man will lead to the destruction of a whole sector, our Educational sector. The incompetence of Mr Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, the current JAMB registrar has become so bad that this young lad had to take his own life. Tunde was sent packing by his guardians because he was unable to produce his JAMB result. His Guardians thought he atevthe money he was supposed to used to register for the exam. Two days after Tunde left home, we woke up to the news that Tunde had killed himself. He bought and drank sniper insecticide. We his closest friends were so sad and angry that we had to take his body to his guardians to do what they wished with it. This foolishness by JAMB has to stop. IT HAS TO STOP NOW.
RIP TUNDE
RIP MY FRIEND"
I dont know about the authenticity of this story but i personally know the poster of it and i know he wont post such if it is not

Himbledbygrace

procellous thunderstorms wakes me from my slumber, lightening strikes and I feel an urge to swallow.
My throat feels like a volcano just erupted. I use my left hand to try and soothe the pain, and my finger collides with lava. I know its my blood.
I clear my throat and an excruciating pain stops me from breathing altogether.
I search for answers with my eyes while holding my breath.
Its pitch black.
A sharp object is thrust deep in my left breast, another one follows. And I hear grunting sounds of a man scorned.
I have to breath out.
