Lol. Endtime Biafraxit, Calixit, Naijaxit etc. |
Ooooh We hear you. That Head count won't work in this country where corruption is the order of the day. The last census conducted in 2006 or so was swept under the carpet because of marked malpractices found in the figures. This will obviously follow the same fate. For me, Nigeria government should come up with a social security number for all Nigerians including the newborn and immigrants. That way, we won't need any census. Secondly, this idea of State of origin should be wiped out and replaced by state of residence. This will remove that diversity among Nigerians . |

promzyphyno:Studying and Working in Germany: International students from other countries can work a total of 120 full or 240 half days per year and on permission from the “Agentur für Arbeit” (Federal Employment Agency), an international student can put in more hours. Whether a student is issued a work permit largely depends on the condition of the local job market. You are less likely to receive a permit to work more than 120 days in regions with higher unemployment rates. This does not include work as a research assistant. There are no time limits apply for this activity. However, a student may still require permission. In addition, international students from outside the EU or EEA are not permitted to work in a self-employed or freelance capacity. |

"Which countries can I study and work at the same time?” This is one of the many important questions students ask as they search for schools in countries far away from what they have known as ‘home’. For many students, going abroad to study can be daunting (and exciting at the same time!). It’s important to make sure you’re fully prepared before arriving in a country so that you know exactly what’s ahead of you and can avoid any unexpected stress. Part of being fully-prepared as an international student is planning and deciding on a part-time job while schooling. Getting a part-time job whether as a a research assistant, a waiter in a bar or a movie production assistant becomes necessary overtime because many international students need to work to finance their studies. Although working while studying will help you straighten out some of the expenses you will have while living abroad, you must always have in mind that working part-time will not help you cover all your expenses. If you are interested in studying and working in a foreign country, it is important to find out the countries that grant permits to students to work while studying, and under what conditions these permits are carried out. Studying and Working in UK: The UK is quite selective about allowing international students to work. Students from outside the UK/an EU country, usually need a visa to study in the UK and a list of other requirements. As such, students that are planning to study in the United Kingdom, must know that the country only allows international students work only if they are granted a Tier 4 Visa. This visa is given to international students who are studying in the UK for at least six months. Internati onal students will be allowed to work in most jobs depending on their course level and the kind of sponsor they have. A tier-4 visa usually permits international students work on an average of 20 hours per week during school sessions and full-time during the holidays. The maximum hours an international student might work during a semester will be printed on the visa sticker or Biometrics Residence Permit (BRP). Studying and Working in USA: The United states issues two kinds of visas to all students coming into the country. The F-1 and the M-1 visas. The F-1 Visa (Academic Student) allows an international student to enter the United States as a full-time student at an accredited college, university, seminary, conservatory, academic high school, elementary school, or other academic institution or in a language training program. Once an international student receives their F-1 visa, they will have the right to work On-Campus for maximum 20 hours per week during the study period and up to 40 hours per week during the vacations period. This is because students on an F-1 visa can only work on-campus in their first year of studies. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) may grant permission to F-1 visa holders to work off-campus in their second year of study. The M-1 visa on the other hand allows student on the M-1 visa to take up practical or vocational training only after they have completed their studies. The weekly restrictions range between 12 and 16 hours. Studying and Working in Australia: International students intending to study in Australia will need to apply for the Student visa (subclass 500). The student visa allows for up to 40 hours of work every two weeks during the study period and full time during the holidays, for students who desire to work and study in Australia. This meas that before you undertake any paid work, you need to make sure your visa permits you to work. Also, it is important to know that, once you find a job in Australia, your employer must give you a formal award or agreement which should establish the minimum wage you will receive per hour, as well as your working conditions. Studying and Working in Germany: International students from other countries can work a total of 120 full or 240 half days per year and on permission from the “Agentur für Arbeit” (Federal Employment Agency), an international student can put in more hours. Studying and Working in Canada: Obtaining a Canadian visa can be quite the herculean task. It is not the same for students intending to study in Canada. While it is necessary for international students to supply sufficient evidence that tuition and living expenses will be adequately taken care of, there are a good number of work permit programs for international students that make working in Canada possible. International students who hold valid study permits and who are studying full time at eligible Canadian public and private universities or colleges may be eligible to work on-campus at the institution where they study without a work permit. The Off-Campus Work Permit authorizes a student to put in up to 20 hours per work week during regular academic sessions, and full time during holidays and scheduled breaks while the Co-op/Internship Work Permit Program will be given to international students whose intended employment is an essential part of their program of study in Canada as certified by their Canadian academic institution. The work portion of this program can form up to 50 percent of the program of study. Studying and Working in France: International students in France are able to work both On-Campus and Off-Campus as in Canada. However, in order for this to happen, the student is expected to have a residency card and be studying in an institution that gives access to the Social Security System. Being a student in France, gives the right to work up to 964 hours during the year, which is equivalent to 60% of the 35 hours per week that are usually worked in the country. In France, the minimum wage is 9.40 euros per hour with approximately 20% going to taxes. Studying and Working in Spain: In Spain, international students can ask for a work permit from the local authorities, for work of up to 20 hours per week. Student work permits in Spain allow the student to work in a company with which he/she has signed a part-time work contract. This permit will have the same length of the one of the contract, and cannot be higher than the duration of the student visa. Studying and Working in Malaysia: International students are also allowed to work part-time for a maximum of 20 hours per week during semester breaks or holidays of more than 7 days while studying full-time in Malaysia, subject to immigration requirements. Studying and Working in Singapore: With the increase in the outpour of international students, Singapore’s rules about international students working part-time have become very stringent. Only students studying in those Universities and Polytechnics listed by the government of Singapore are allowed to work for 16 hours a week. http://www.afterschoolafrica.com/19032/countries-where-students-study-and-work-abroad/ |

Some Nigerians have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prosecute Goodluck Jonathan and Diezani Alison-Madueke to show that the anti-corruption campaign of the present administration is serious about tackling corruption in the country. Malabu $466m bribe: Buhari cannot fight corruption if Jonathan is not put on trial Goodluck Jonathan and Diezani Alison-Madueke have been indicted by Italian prosecutors of receiving gratification to approve the controversial Malabu Oil transaction. Calls for the arrest Jonathan and Madueke surfaced after Italian prosecutors named the former president and Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, who served under his administration as Minister of Petroleum Resources, among those who allegedly received kickbacks in the controversial $1.3bn oil block deal involving oil giants ENI and Royal Dutch Shell. Jonathan and his minster were indicted by court documents filed late last month in the city of Milan which outlined a case against 11 people, including senior executives from the two oil majors and the companies themselves. The prosecutors alleged that total of $801.5 million was allegedly transferred to the account of Nigerian businessman Dan Etete, of which $466 million was converted into cash in Nigeria and used for remunerating government officials, including Jonathan and Alison-Madueke, prosecutors said. The prosecutors also alleged that another $54m was withdrawn by one Abubakar Aliyu, whom the prosecutors described as an “agent” of Jonathan. The beneficiaries of the money went on a shopping spree buying “property, aeroplanes, armoured cars,” prosecutors stated in the court papers. Reacting to the recent exposure, some Nigerians have called for Jonathan to be extradited to Italy to face prosecution for the Malabu scandal. Others said the report in Italian court is evidence that Jonathan and those who served under his administration plundered the country. READ ALSO: Malabu oil scandal: Ex-oil minister Etete to be tried in Italy They described Jonathan and Diezani as enemies of Nigeria and urged the Buhari administration to ensure that they answer for their alleged embezzlement. Read what aggrieved Nigerians are saying about the allegations against Jonathan and Diezani below: Sincere said: "I have always said it that Jonathan and his group of demons stole and did this country slot of evil. No wonder his demons did all they could to see that the clueless one continued in office. May God help us from enemies within." Menyinnah called for all those involved to be fished out and prosecuted, he said: Both Nigerian EFCC and Italian anti-corruption agencies need establish those involved in corruption in the $1.3 billion OPL 245 block deal and hold them responsible as the law stated." Fred Odorige was more forceful when he called for Jonathan to be sent to jail. According to him: "You (Buhari) cannot be fighting corruption if Jonathan is not put on trial. In order to avoid civil disturbances, he should be arrested, prosecuted and jailed like Ibori whenever he travel abroad. Conceding defeat in the last election does not make him sancrosant. Elections are meant to be won and lost." Yashim concurred by demanding that Jonathan Diezani face justice for what he described as selling out their consciences to the detriment of the larger Nigerian nation! Another commentator, Aboikagbo, said the recent report had exposed Jonathan as a fraud. "Gradually the dune is caving in. 99 days for the thief, 1 day for the owner. Stealing is corruption in Italy and soon the dumbo who did not see anything wrong in stealing will find himself explaining what corruption is in international court. Mind you, Italy is not Nigeria. Except the dumbo Jonathan did not travel abroad, he is as good as being arrested and detained abroad. Thief should not go unfurnished," he said. Abu Abu on his part, took a swipe at supporters of the former president "Where are the Wailers! See GEJ finally nailed, even if FG doesn't prosecute him God will ask him to answer for this misdemeanor," he noted. Another concerned Nigerian, Olufemi Adeniyi called for the federal government to support the Italian prosecutors in investigation and extradict Jonathan to face prosecution. According to him: "It is time for the Presidency, DSS and EFCC to support Italian prosecutors and give intelligence reports and evidence to the Italian prosecutors so that the Italianos can help us to keep these international looters into Italian jails where the eyes of the likes of Asari cannot see. "At last, what the Nigerian judiciary and the incompetent prosecuting agents cannot do successfully, the Italianos will help us to do them abundantly and have these certified thieves locked up for many years. "Having these born theives that have their ND DNAs coated with looting in Italian jail will remove the cry of victimization and further pipeline vandalism by their sick people and followers "If they are too powerful for the Nigeria government to prosecute or the government is intimidated or incapable to prosecute or the FG has bounded itself not to prosecute these shameless looters, we can now take the available Italian opportunity and hand over these looters to the Italians and we will all see what will become of them in a sane Italian county, it will be a mirror of Ibori and the UK courts. "Over to you EFCC and DSS. "Every Nigerian matters ooo, May God save Nigeria from ENEMIES WITHIN." Okoh Ndidi Precious said: "I think some people said that President Buhari was using EFCC to harass former president Jonathan and Madueke , now that two of them have been fingered in the Malabu scandal, they should go and tell the italian government that they are been harassed" A similar sentiment was shared by"Mohammed Isyaku who said: "Thank God this case is being head in far Italy, Nigeria is only to extradite him (Jonathan) when ever the request is made" Meanwhile, Jonathan has reacted to the allegation that he received gratification to approve the controversial Malabu Oil transaction during his tenure. In a statement by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, in Abuja on Tuesday, December 10, Jonathan said he did not send businessman Abubakar Aliyu or any other person to receive bribe on his behalf during or after the negotiation. The former president also said he held no secret meeting with parties in the transaction at anytime. What is your stance on the issue, do you support calls for Jonathan and Diezani to be extradited to face prosecution in Italy? https://www.naij.com/1081845-malabu-deal-nigerians-urge-buhari-probe-jonathan-diezani.html

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, is on admission at the National Hospital Abuja. According to his lawyer, Mr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), Metuh was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed while rising to sing in his church in Abuja on Sunday. The lawyer had said this to the trial judge at Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice Okon Abang today while giving reasons for the absence of Metuh from court. Metuh is being prosecuted along with his company, Destra Investment Limited, for offences relating to separate transactions of N400m and $2m. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting Metuh and Destra Investment Limited on seven counts, including fraud involving N400m which he allegedly received from the Office of the National Security Adviser in 2014 without any justification. The fund was said to have been released to Metuh and his firm by the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd), from about $2.1bn allegedly earmarked by the then President Goodluk Jonathan Administration for the purchase of arms to fight insurgency in the North East. At the resumed hearing of the case on Tuesday, when Metuh was scheduled to call his seventh defence witness, his lawyer, Ikpeazu, sought an adjournment of the trial till Wednesday to enable his client to obtain a medical report on his health condition. Ikpeazu said, “The first defendant is absent because he is sick. He was rushed to the National Hospital in Abuja on Sundayafter he collapsed while trying to stand up from his seat to sing in his church.” The lawyer said the ex-spokesperson for the PDP was later on Sunday taken from the National Hospital to an Indian hospital in Karu, Abuja, and later back to the National Hospital, where he was until the Tuesday’s proceedings still admitted in the hospital’s Ward A4. He however said, due to ongoing tests being carried out on his client, the hospital had not been able to issue a medical report which he could present in court. In response, prosecuting counsel, Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, said in the absence of a medical report disclosing Metuh’s health status, the court should disregard the submission of the defence lawyer and go ahead with the proceedings in the absence of the accused person.
