[quote author=emmanuelewumi post=139260458]Oga Emma, I want to use this opportunity to thank you so much. I remember in 2021, during COVID, we met here on Nairaland, and you advised me on stocks to buy, e.g., GTCO, Zenith, WAPCO, Presco, UCAP, and others. I was very scared of buying stock again because of my experience with ETI stock in 2008. You advised that stocks are like that. I followed your advice, opened an investment One account through you, and you guided me through it and also advised on money market savings as well.

Today, I am here to say thank you so much for the advice you gave me, not just about buying stock, but in my general financial life. I remembered opening my account one day and everything was red. I called you panicking; you smiled and advised me to calm down. Since I am a long-term investor, it's just a paper loss. At first, I thought to myself, this man is playing tricks with me. However, you advised me to pick more stock during that period to average down, especially since there is a bear in the market, and that's the best time to buy and average down. I said ok, I did as you advised. Today, everywhere is green. Some of those stocks are over 500%, 400%, even 900%. Oga mi, thank you so much. I wish I had invested more, but I am grateful for the little I did. Now I understand the saying that the greatest risk is never taking a risk in life.

I extend my sincere gratitude once again. Thank you, Nairaland, and fellow contributors in the comments section. Many of us appreciate your valuable posts and advice, which we readily apply. Your collective input has significantly enriched the knowledge of individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who lack access to higher education, financial advisors, mentors, or seminars. The insights shared are indeed cultivating a community of informed and astute individuals.

I can afford a year one tuition fee complete and also the living expenses of $22,300 cad, which program will you advise me to do?

Gloriousangel:
You can do two programs and a lot of their programs are actually 2 years although mine is for a year. Don’t forget you need to show proof of fund for the entire program to actually get your visa approval as IRCC isn’t playing.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Diyke4rich: 8:19pm On Aug 16, 2025
Good day everyone, I just saw that NBCC courses are really affordable, but a few courses I would like to study are only yearly programs. I was hoping to do a two-year program to enable me to qualify for a three-year PGWP. Another question is, does Personal Support Worker Acute Care qualify one for PNP? Is it advisable to go for the one-year course, and what course is advisable for one to do, especially to get employment after school and PNP?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Diyke4rich: 1:00am On Aug 05, 2025
I am grateful for your attention. My financial plan involves using $13,000 CAD for living expenses and saving $10,000 CAD for a partial tuition payment in my second year. Upon arrival, I aim to secure a job within six months, working 23 hours per week and full-time during holidays to save and settle the remaining balance.

JMG12:
It is advisable you have your complete year duration fee available; however, you can give a comprehensive explanation how you plan to fund your second year, and please don't tell them when you start working in Canada.

Hi everyone, I am applying for a 2-year college course at Nova Scotia Community College for Heavy Duty Maintenance and Repair. I have the first year's full school fee of about $18,000 CAD, $3,000 for other expenses, and $23,000 CAD for living expenses. Do I also need to have my second year's school fee or proof of it? If I get a job, will I be able to cover the remaining $16,000 for the second year?

Lie investment one does same as well deducting N50

emmanuelewumi:
rote author=essentialone post=120596763]3 reasons why I will be completely quitting the use of Meristem stockbrokers by Q3 of this year.

1. Of all my stockbrokers, only Meristem stockbrokers deduct #50 from the money I deposit into their account, per deposit.
2. Of all my stockbrokers, only Meristem stockbrokers will not allow you to use all your deposited money to buy shares. They will always hold back N100 to themselves. The money is small but the reason is unclear and most likely invalid.
3. Of all my stockbrokers, only Meristem stockbrokers does not have the option of placing an order that can remain valid for 30 days. The maximum number of days that an order can remain in Meristem stockbrokers is 14 days.

I have tried to complain about these three things to them severally, but I think their Management does not care about feedbacks and complaints. Please if their agents are here, tell them ooo.

I agree with you.

Of all the stockbrokers that I do business with, it is only Meristem that will give you a margin loan on insist on the shares you must buy. These shares are reviewed every quarter.

Once I have provided enough security cover I should buy whatever stock I want to buy. You will hardly make money from their margin loan facility, I believe they are always late to the party as per the stocks on their list
