UpdateAll: Happy midweek hopefuls,

Here is a little productive thinking exercise

You are given a scenario in which shop floor workers in a factory have expressed low job satisfaction, and staff turnover is high. You are asked to generate as many ideas as you can of ways to increase staff morale within a limited budget.

Throw in your best opinions!!!
Hmmmm... make i try!!

1. Identification of the Problem(s): I'm sure there will be other reasons for dissatisfaction.
2. Understands everyone's interest: What do they really want 'individually'? Because you have to work towards satisfying the needs of everyone. Through various forms of data collection. E.g Low Salary Scale, Non-Flexibility of Working time, Low rate of career progression, etc
3. List your options: Identify possible ways to meet their needs:
4. Evaluate your options: Advantages (To the Workers) and drawbacks (To the Company)
5. Pick and rule out options: Decide on what can be done and what cannot be done (For now or Never)
6. Document it / Formalize it.
7. Establish guidelines, contingencies, Feedback and Evaluation strategies.

I nor too sabi o... Na d small wey i sabi be this>>

okzcorp: Thank you bro.Well They cross at the rate of the slowest person doesn't mean that they move together. For a bridge that will take Amaka 2mins to cross, we we were told Audu will take just 1min. The length is inconsiderate here, their rates are sufficient. The crocs are in the water.
How can Audu who can cross the bridge at the rate of 1min start moving at 2mins? The prompt didn't say so.

NB: They cross the bridge AT the rate of the slowest person (total time taken for crossings) not WITH the rate of the slowest person.(Faster person slowing down).
The fact that Audu and the 5min person can cross the bridge imply that the torch intensity is sufficient to see Audu reach the end of the bridge and not Audu reducing his pace.
Nice one bro, I'll assume i understand you well enough. cheesy

1. And i think you are still assuming amaka will point the touch for audu to get to the other side. I won't argue the intensity of the torchlight though. But let me ask; what if it's a curved bridge? huh

2. Audu who can cross the bridge at the rate of 1min will have to cross the bridge at the rate of 2mins in order to accommodate amaka, because they both need the torchlight to cross the bridge. Unless if there's another way they can both benefit from the torchlight without moving together. undecided

I'm not trying to be negative although, just trying to make sure all conditions are considered. wink
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by Djbaka(m): 9:45pm On Sep 02, 2014
okzcorp: FINALE:
All five persons can cross the bridge in 12mins. Plz scrutinize and criticize.
Going by Spiro's post that the emphasis is on "crossing the bridge", this validates my earlier proposition.

1. Audu and Amaka crosses the bridge in 2mins. There was no restriction on the direction of crossing, all we were told is dat they cross at the rate of the slower person. If it takes Audu 1min to cross and Amaka 2mins, it implies that while Amaka is still on the bridge with 1min left to cross, Audu had crossed the bridge. Amaka being in possession of the torch turns and head back to meet the others in 1min. Total time of crossing is 2mins (Amaka's rate) but in opposite directions.
2. The others cross the bridge in 7mins.
3. Audu returms with the torch in 1min.
4. Audu and Amaka will cross the bridge a second time buh this time in the same direction in 2mins.

Total time taken=12mins
NB: IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR DIRECTION OF CROSSING and we weren't of they were restricted to any.
No member was left behind, all crossed to continue their terrifying imaginary journey.
I'll start by giving kudos to Spiro.. Though it might not be the right solution, at least you gave the house a new dimension to view the puzzle. *chop-knuckle*

@okzcorp: Your idea is splendid, and it actually looks like a perfect solution, but I see you didn't consider the fact that they all have to cross the bridge in pairs with the torch and at the slowest person's rate. Remember...
(1.)it's a crocodile infested river in the middle of the night, and we don't know how long the bridge is. So Audu wouldn't be able to get to the other end while the torch lies with Amaka.
(2.) They are moving at Amaka's rate, which means they are moving at the speed of amaka. So Amaka can't possibly be in the middle of the bridge while Audu is at the other end.

The lowest time with the 'supposedly' right conditions this house has been able to come up with is 14mins. We can make 12mins. Yes, we can!

Dpress: audu and ade crosses = 2mins.
They either shine the torch for others or throw the torch over for others.
Adeyinka and co, now Cross es = 7mins.

Total = 9mins
@Dpress: Nice work you've done here, but it seems you did not consider the fact that the Exercise question stipulated that the torch CANNOT be tossed back across the bridge. Also, shinning the torch for them looks a little bit unfeasible because the bridge might not be straight ahead, and besides, the torch might be shinning on their faces making difficult for them to see further forward. You might want to device another means.

@drebabu: You only quoted @airsaylongcon (the guy who posted the exercise) and said it is possible for the four guys to cross the bridge in 12minutes under the conditions. You didn't tell us HOW! I implore you to share your idea here.

@nomapatricks: I believe Zelinjo quoted you appropriately as regards to what you didn't put into consideration before you arrived at your proposed solution to the exercise.

I've actually tried and the lowest time I arrived at was 16minutes. I believe there's a solution which I believe we here posses the mental wherewithal to think decipher. It begins NOW!!

Goodluck people.

simplex2: Stop displaying your ignorance in a public forum! From what you wrote, its obvious you're ignorant of the role dragnet and workforce plays in recruitment exercises. With such limited knowledge like you display here, I wonder what firm would offer you an employment.

Let me educate you (that's if someone else hasn't seen that your silly post and done that already):
Dragnet and workforce help companies in recruitment exercises; they are not the ones that offer an employment. It depends on the agreement with the firm contracting them; it could be to review cv, shortlist those qualified for the test, organize the test and send the successful candidates' names to the hiring company for the oral interviews. Its during the oral interview stages that the hiring company now does their final selection. So at that final stage, it has nothing to do with dragnet or workforce.
Some companies may give them the go-ahead order to organize oral interviews and send them a particular number of qualified candidates.

You need to be abreast with the system if you're really searching for a job. Right now, I doubt that you've completed your first degree.

Thank me later for the small tutorial.
I don't really think there's much need for antagonistic criticism on what this fellow has said. He's only trying to share his observation on the subject matter. Things don't work for everybody the same way. Constructive criticisms 'on the subject' are welcome. Counter the person's claim, not the person.

okeyjames: If he declares then he is equal to the task! No manifesto will be 30-45seconds. Once you start you are in..TIME wasting begins. If your LEADER is bad and you contribute effectively, the time keeper is equal to his task and your group succeeds in unraveling the riddle. Do you think his inability will affect? Certainly NOT
Starting Slow in the right direction is still better than starting Fast in the wrong direction. Any system with a HEAD that is below par administering it will always lack the efficiency it's capable of, no matter the efforts of the followers. Unless maybe it will be a Leader by NAME and not by FUNCTION.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by Djbaka(m): 6:20am On Aug 17, 2014
okeyjames: My brother this is not an election. The first person to declare leadership interest should be given full support by others to avoid waste of time. We might be given 20mins for the group work. We should try to work as fast as possible not sacrificing accuracy as well. The final answer is not the goal but contributions from everyone towards achieving the goal.....my 2kobo
The first person that declares leadership interest might not be up to the task of taking leadership positions in a high pressure environment. The AC shouldn't be an avenue to test run abilities, as the mistake or ineptitude of the leader incapacitates the whole group and can jeopardize the chance for success of the group. IMO, a 30-45 seconds manifesto will cost the group so little yet reveal so much.
