lovelygurl: Oh sry don't know why I wrote coffee. The got stuffs like textiles and manufactured goods in return. Besides do you think whites stopped slavery because they really wanted to. It was after blacks started rebelling and standing up for themselves. Even after slavery ended, there was still a lot of discrimination. Like they weren't even educated properly, had different schools EVEN different public toilets. Why do you think Martin Luther King called for a protest.
Besides do you THINK the white man went there in peace? Of course they were forced! Do you have a choice if you are a slave? Where do you think the term "Sunday school" came from I don't know if there are still slaves today in Saudi Arabia but I don't think so, or else we would have heard of it So you you think slaves just start revolutions on their own and win freedom and afterwards live happily ever after together with their ex-masters?? If you actually think that, it's laughable. In every movement, especially against the status-quo, there are resistances. Not every white man wanted slave trade in the first place, clamours rose over the years and thank God for Abraham Lincoln who helped in abolishing the practice, not without war which lives of white people. End to slavery is not the same as End to racism and outright discrimination, that's is the battle Martin Luther King Jr fought. Your sunday school analogy though. True, the white brought education to entice us to embrace christianity or vice-versa. That does not in any way depict an 'accept or die' approach talked about. |

castroevans: WHATS THE ESSENCE OF HAVING CRUDE OIL WHEN WE CANT BENEFIT FROM IT aresa: Speak for yourself and not for Lagosians.. Having Oil is a good thing and shows a potential source of massive revenue for the country and state altogether. But unfortunately, it's not always so as history and present happenings has showed us. Imagine a Nigeria without oil; re-collect the pre-oil era and project how the country would have been if it had continued like that without oil discovery. I don't know what you think, but i think we would have managed our modest resources very well enough, too little to be massively embezzled and just enough to bring about sustainable development we need. But that is stale story though. now we have to forge forward. We hope lagos as an entity utilize this addition well and not end up being a sorry state as their fore runners. |

You leave a christian thread open for everyone, both christians, muslims, even those that don't know the road to church or mosque to comment freely, but if its a muslim thread, you lock it up and ask us to declare some dum.b shi.t,,, I think I have some serious reservations for that... Its not really fair, you leave people to come here and make fun and mockery of my faith That's why it's easy to claim all Muslims are terrorists! Yes, it's not true, I know. majekdom2: These does not relate. No one is saying NLNG is right to have delayed this recruitment. They are wrong and the mistake I think they may have made is not taking in entry level employees every year. If they have been doing this ,They would have been able to cope with the present industry realities. It's a learning point. However, the debate here is the planned bombardment, sending mails which many see as unnecessary. An employee is entitled to his wage. A potential employee is entiled to feed back of his interview. That you had in the" due course " message. There is no law that states that a feedback should be sent monthly. Do you think there are no legal advisors in NLNG? Or you think it's a win for you if you go to court? An employee being owed salaried will win in court. There is a sign contract between the employee and the employer. I am not sure you signed any agreement with NLnG yet. If a " graduate Trainee " is asked to take on responsibilities previously attached to someone with 10 years experience. Can he / she do it? . Your role requires loads of training and mentorship. Time commitment from all employees including the management. A single mistake at the plant in bonny can wipe out the community. Looking at it from my own angle, it does. The dude/lady simply explained how 2 different attitudes towards a challenge/problem/situation can affect the outcome (immediate and long-term). It's illustrative. There's a situation on ground (at least from the GTs angle), Two options we have; A) Do something - Try and provoke a feedback from coy in the most 'civil' way - we cannot die!, whatever is less open-ended than the last one will do. B) Do Nothing - Get busy with your lives as if NLNG does not exist and just wait it out no matter how long it takes (Looks easiest... I wish!) We are all different beings, we reason and process thoughts differently. My own take; it costs nothing to try, it cannot jeopardize anything. Whatever medium or method we decide to adopt is fine, but we can do more than 'sit and wait, watching the clock tick'. If not for anything, for the self actualisation that one has 'tried'. |

Cancel recruitment? Because hopefuls tried to contact them or because they 'appear' to be growing impatient? Lol.. really? For all I know, Whatever is decided here is only an idea conceived and adopted by a percentage of the whole chunk of hopefuls (going by the 'Click like' survey and somebody's inside story of over 300 left). Moreover, whatever is done to reach out to them by this percentage can never go wrong, it could even initiate plan for feedback but not cancellation, unless it has been in the pipeline before and the glut of inquiries fast-tracked it, which we all hope doesn't happen... though some people may be forming James Bond. |

The problem of Nigeria is Nigerians.
We are tribalistic, sentimental about every little thing. We are more interested in the messenger than the message. We don't care about the sense and wisdom in a message, so far the messenger is not someone who appeals to us, we rubbish and discard it. Talk about throwing away the baby with the bath water.
This man, though of questionable/controversial character (as most people have been implying) has made sense with his proposition, instead of analysing the loopholes and charting the way forward, all I see is ranting and arguments about who first made the proposition, who is the nationalist, who is the tribalist, who is this, who is that.
Fate has brought Nigeria together, we can only channel a way to live together peacefully in it. Enough of blame games. Way forward. |
