excuse me, i have my own prophecies: 1. Nigeria shall score a goal at the world cup 2. People will get banned on nairaland this year, only prayers and fasting can avert this. 3. Many women will get pregnant and give birth this year 4. Seun, be careful, there might be a scandal involving you and Linda Ikeji this year. Go and fast and pray. 5. A governor of an apex bank in africa will be forced to retire before his tenure expires. 6. There shall be massive defections from one of africa's biggest political parties. 7. There shall be massive snow and floods in some european countries. Fasting and prayers will prevent this. 8. Nokia will release BBM for windows in 2014. 9. C. Ronaldo will win the ballon d'or. 10. I will be proud of myself this year 1 Like |

Those prophecies just make me laugh. These so called MOGs will just be playing on the intelligence of gullible masses and 'who-can-not-think' churchgoers. All those things are what any sane person can accurately predict. Who doesn't know major breakthroughs are made in science and medicine almost every year, and natural disasters are getting rampant? Shebi Jesus was sure of himself and If he's so sure, let him be specific and name names... Btw, what kinda prophecies aint for public consumption?? 1 Like |

Religion / Why Are Pagan Beliefs Dismissed? by DKJaleel: 1:46pm On Dec 29, 2013 |
i've been wondering of late why pagan beliefs are dismissed or unaccepted in our society (which ironically, it's our default way of life). I think a pantheon of Gods makes much more sense logically and could be easier to use for explaining the state of the world. When you have a pantheon, you get lots of little gods, all responsible for their specialist areas, take the Yoruba belief for instance. Gods in a pantheon don't have to be omnipotent or omni-anything. Gods in a pantheon have natural limits, and with different characteristics - good and bad gods, lazy gods, greedy gods, etc.. unlike the monotheistic deities that have to be omni-omni. when you only have one god, he has to be responsible for EVERYTHING. He has to create the universe, worry about our morals, provide a pleasing place to go after we die, but worst of all he has to be responsible for bad things (which some dont accept) as well as good things, and you end up with the 'problem of evil'. It is hard to make a monotheist god logically consistent, e.g can he make a stone he can't lift? Or physical elements he cant control? Modern day monotheists usually scoff at how ridiculous pagan beliefs are compared to theirs, but I can't understand why. Any theist or pagan want to weigh in? 1 Like |
Religion / Re: Your Pick: The Truth Or The Bible?? by DKJaleel: 6:08pm On Dec 27, 2013 |
As I've said before, the only way to know the TRUTH, is to ask ALL the tough questions. That is something religious people fear doing, for a couple of reasons: Religion instills FEAR into people to NEVER QUESTION ANYTHING about it's religion. and Because they know the answers to those questions will disprove many, if not ALL of their longstanding beliefs. So they just blindly follow, mostly because of that fear and the tradition. Just think, if there is a God, and I said IF, don't you think he/she/it would want us to ask all the tough questions to find the Truth and filter out all of the false gods that are out there?? Instead of just believing in some religion because it's the one you grew up with?? Even if your religion is the True religion, wouldn't asking all those tough questions just PROVE that your God is the Real one? Why then are ALL religions so afraid of those questions, and don't want anyone questioning their beliefs?? What are they afraid of? The Truth?? Ultimately, you have to choose ONE. I chose TRUTH. You can't say god is the truth. I chose the Truth. What do you choose? |
Religion / Re: Your Pick: The Truth Or The Bible?? by DKJaleel: 6:01pm On Dec 27, 2013 |
At the end of the day you've got to ask yourself, what do you really want to believe in more, the TRUTH or the bible version of God? If you pick the TRUTH, then you will ask all the tough questions about your religion, or your way of life without the fear of disproving anything. If you choose God, then what you are really saying is that no matter how much of your religion or way of life is dis-proven, you don't care. You will just continue to believe blindly.. I asked all the right and tough questions. I asked Jesus to tell me if I should believe in the Bible and in him. I got nothing. I wanted to believe in God. Then i discovered that It's tough to ask those questions because the only reasons people still believe in that is their religion brainwashes people and instills FEAR into them. If they open their eyes and read the bible with an open mind, instead of a brainwashed one, they would see that their religion, or their so called way of life is BOGUS!! |
Religion / Your Pick: The Truth Or The Bible?? by DKJaleel: 5:51pm On Dec 27, 2013 |
I just thought, how will a grown and educated human claim to have read the bible [with a neutral mindset] and still believe it is true?? The best thing i did was reading the bible. Why?? Cos it opened my eyes to so many things and most importantly, the TRUTH. It's full of God's Hate,Jealousy, and Hypocrisy! I was told that the Bible was real and that God loved me, but with my own eyes, i read the OPPOSITE in the Bible! Then I had to ask myself one question, do I want to believe in the TRUTH or do I want to believe in Bible version of 'God'?? I chose TRUTH... |

if u spit on the ground and someone else steps on it, you will have sore throat.. If u eat the eyes of a fish, u will become dumb in your studies.. If you want a girl to love you, write her name on a piece of paper, burn it and rub d ashes on your forehead..*works like magic*.. Kill a red-headed lizard, cut d head off and put a coin in its mouth, bury it and after seven days, it will have turned to some bills of money.. If you get in trouble with ur teacher and he/she goes out to get a cain, quickly remove seven strands of ur hair and three of ur eyelashes, wrap it in a piece of paper and put it by d doorstep. If d teacher steps on it, he will forget about beating you.. If ur tooth should 'remove', count seven stones with it and throw it on a roof. But if a lizard spots u and goes to swallow ur tooth, it wont regrow again... Superstitions plenty jare... 2 Likes |
