If the Naira is strengthened through production, petrol would sell for less than N200. Why should a dollar be greater than N200? nairalanda1: Yeah and you want to know how much subsidy to keep fuel at 87 naira wild cost?
You want us to keep boorowing and borrowing?
You and apc, you are alike. Very much alike.
So tinubu was right to say that subsidy should not go in 2012. Thanks to his protest we have the economic issues we have now.
Yet you are here aggreing with him ? |

We cannot continue to blame 1960 and the military rulers criminals that nobody voted for. Nigeria started making progress from 1999 until APC was brought in. nairalanda1: Yes, because your otondo leaders from 1960 to date did not do what sane countries did and develop our industrial exports potential
That is what all the countries with strong economies have.
Nigeria , whatever the government , we sell raw materials overseas and import products at a much higher price than what we sold the raw materials for.
And you expect progress? You expect strong economy with strong currency?
Even keeping naira strong in quote then cost us a lot of money and by extension debt.
Our leaders, tinubu included, are not serious.
And you are here calling me apc member. Grow up abeg. Wake up

Nigeria problem is not subsidy but corruption and economic mismanagement nairalanda1: And their heads were not correct then
Venezuela sells fuel at 40 naira. And they have lost the majority of their refining capacity. And their economy is already in starvation mode.
Removing subsidy in 2012 , even earlier than that self would have been the right decision |
Politics › Re: NNPCL Raises Petrol Price To ₦990 In Abuja, ₦965 In Lagos by DMerciful(m): 6:49pm On Jan 21, 2025 |
Petrol price did not increase rather your exchange rate increased astronomically. That N87 then is more valuable than N1000.A bottle of groundnut was N250 then, how much now? This has nothing to do with subsidy but mismanagement of the economy by APC nairalanda1: So you want us to pay 87 naira for fuel ?
If you know how that 87 naira things is a part of the reason why we have many of today's problems , including debt, you won't post that picture again.
Infact keeping fuel at 65 naira meant that costs of subsidies tripled in one year from 2010-11.
Keeping fuel at that 87 naira cost us heavily in debt that the government around that time was borrowing to pay for subsides. Fuel was being smugglied to as far as Ghana..people were looting money and NNPC was not remitting money.
And most stations were charging over 100 naira anyway. And it took until 2018 to sort out the debt we gat from keeping fuel that low.
And to keep it that low will cost us 36-40 trillion naira annually today. If not more.
Oga, I wish GEJ gad the balls to tell buhari and tinubu to shut up in 2012. By now, maybe we would have had tons of dollars extra from refineries.
Take that picture down abeg. Even tinubu that was foolishly protesting against subsidy removal in 2012 has received sense now. |

Everybody wants to do their own thing. Its best to do it in your own country. Why do you wanna eat your cake and keep it? gawu1: That the Hausa are planning to adopt the Hausa language as the language of learning in their own enclave? The country will never divide, not at any future time even. So many had wished before the independence that the country never existed, yet it does. With the successful adoption of Hausa as the language of learning, the northerners would have positioned themselves to take more grips of the country while it would be too late for the reactionaries like the ipobpigians. That is where my suggestion is pointed to. |

Politics › Re: 2025 Forecast: Nigeria’s Inflation Rate To Decline By 15% - Wale Edun by DMerciful(m): 3:38pm On Jan 21, 2025 |
15% reduction in inflation rate is different from 15% reduction in inflation which is almost impossible! Inflation rate means the rate at which inflation is increasing while inflation is the increase. If petrol stays at N1000 per litre 2024 and 2025, it means inflation rate is zero however price is already high when it moved from N145 to N1000. So when you hear that the inflation rate from 2024 to 2025 is zero, does that mean its affordable? JuanDeDios: There's reason to hope (possible zero import of PMS and diesel, increasing crude out, improvement in agriculture, possible improvement in electricity, possible improvement in security, etc.) 15% reduction in inflation is not impossible. But I trust them to commit the blunders (like allowing unchecked rise in energy prices and doing little about the state of federal roads) that'll make it a pipe dream. |
