Celebrities › Re: "Jnr Pope Was Provided Life Jacket But Rejected It Because It Was Dirty" - Luke by DMerciful(m): 4:27pm On Apr 14, 2024
Jr Pope was primarily responsible for his safety, he is not a novice. He took his safety for granted because as an A-list actor, if he says he is not going without a life jacket, he will be provided one by force
immortalcrown:
Many contradictory claims.

1.
If jackets were freely available and Junior Pope and some other passengers of the boat rejected the jackets, why did AGN suspend Adamma?

2.
TC said marine police said, "You people refused to come and hire jackets from us". But you now claim jackets were freely available. So, even the other dead victims and the missing ones rejected the free jackets?

3.
TC never said anybody provided free jackets and anybody rejected the jackets. Consider his claim about the marine police saying the passenges refused to hire jackets. I suspect a connivance by the police and the movie producers against TC. Recall that the TC said the police wanted to take him to a police station. And if the AGN does not defend (justify) its suspension of Adamma, I suspect that the AGN has been bribed to support the conspiracy. How can the AGN suspend Adamma and keep quiet after seeing the statement from Adamma? Think about it.

4.
I earlier saw a post on this same Nairaland. In the post, the boat driver claims that Junior Pope refused to pay for a life jacket. One says free jackets were provided while another one says Junior Pope refused to pay for a jacket. Think about it.

5.
According to TC, the boat driver who was not concentrating on the boat movement was trying to show his face on video when the boat hit another boat. No other person has claimed another boat was hit. The same TC is accused of standing. If TC was standing, did anyone confront him and what was his response? I don't believe the accusation against TC. Other survivors should stand by the truth to counter the accusation being leveled against TC.

6.
TC never said Junior Pope was alive to say anything after the boat accident. But now, this producer is saying Junior Pope was asking if everything is okay. TC didn't mention that a gallon was thrown for Junior Pope.

NOTE:
My own question is, did Adamma even present these her claims to the AGN before getting suspended by the AGN? The claims by TC do not contradict each other. But the claims by the producer do not support one another. And the claim by the boat driver contradicts those of the producer. This case is like that of Mohbad. There is even another claim that the producer denied the responsibility of the boat transportation.

The highest blame goes to boat drivers who don't enforce the use of jackets. The government should be blamed for collecting levies from the boat drivers without enforcement of safety measures to the boat transportation. Or, doesn't the government collect levies from the drivers? AGN should be blamed because other producers acted like Adamma. The AGN has not been proactive. Then, the passengers should be blamed for not being security conscious. No sensible adult will travel by boat without insisting on using a life jacket. Adamma is not totally innocent. She should have made an attempt to get the crew members adhere to necessary safety measures.

I have live in Lagos and its environs for about 6yrs, Lagos is not doing well. Lagos is not VI and Lekki alone, majority of the places like Badagry, Egbeda, Amuwo Dofin, Orile, Fagba,Abule Egba, Agbado Ijaye etc are just ordinary.

Comparing Lagos with other states in Nigeria is a very unambitious thing to do. You can't have the 6th largest economy in Africa and compare yourself with state with economy you're 15 times bigger than.

A city running on borehole can never be called a developed city, not even in a 1000yrs. Emergency response? Can you be in your house, having a medical emergency and call 911 or a robbery attack and call 911 and expect a response within 10mins?

If you remove the infrastructures built before 1999 from Lagos, the successive state govts have done little with huge funds
tollyboy5:
Yes and he doesn't have a choice. After his 8 years or four years he won't come back here if he doesn't address most challenges we're facing here.

Nigeria is one nation, so Lagos state government is not responsible for the large poverty in the state.
Many measures has been taken to restrict people from constituting nuisance and creating shanties.
Nigerians abroad are living shanties, go check places where Nigeria lives in italy, usa etc.

Yes we do complain about the electricity issues alot. Alot has been done to improve power in the state but it's more of a federal government issue. As you can see the blue line metro is running on electricity.
Not all area has constant light tho. We're giving then the opportunity to fix that once and for all.
If light is fixed in Lagos, many Nigerians living in Lagos will benefit, the best person to fix light bt tinubu and obi in Lagos is tinubu.
So we're watching.

Lagos has the best emergency response in Nigeria sofar. Have you happened to see how those firefighters swiftly attend fire accident?
If you tell me Lagos don't have the best emergency response team then I'll know you just want to tell lies.

As far as im concerned, we've settled for individuals drilling their borehole and we're satisfied with that.
It's left for who is not satisfied with such condition to decide where is best to live in.

Lagos is improving massively and we're not sleeping on it.
Those cities you mention you need to see their budget.
Naira has to stabilize to at least ₦500 to a dollar and Lagos state budget need to start from 3trillion to achieve such feat.
It will happen by 2025 budget.

I recently complained on Twitter to the governor about some issues in badagry, like two days later the governor visited badagry base on the things I said.
Many road still need to be reconstructed in Lagos but I believe Lagos has one of the best roads in Nigeria.

Tinubu has borrowed over 15 trillions in one year. What an ignorant fellow!
DeLaRue:
Absolute nonsense.

This is the most accomplished problem-solving administration we have had, probably for 50 years. Mr Babangida's administration also tried

From the early 70s when Nigeria was awash with petro-dollars as a result of Middle East crises, no Nigerian administration has faced the diversity, scope, depth and complexity of the challenges this administration met when it took over.

Nigeria was virtually on the verge of financial collapse, borrowing huge sum to pay fuel subsidy that mostly went into a few pockets. Stupid.

Since then, Mr Tinubu's administration has slowly but surely steadied the ship, and before our eyes, we are beginning to see results and recovery from what many citizens, including myself, feared was an irreversible situation.

However, and surprisingly, step by step, the CBN has been taking steps that are delivering results before our eyes. Something that Egypt and Argentina who were in a similar situation as Nigeria up till a few months ago have been unable to replicate.

Argentina has gotten worse. Likewise Egypt. Yet, Nigeria's CBN is quietly achieving the unthinkable.

We have not seen this type of result-oriented competence from any previous administration in Nigeria.

This is the most tested government in several decades and one by one they are facing up to the challenges.

You do not have constant electricity, government provided pipe borne water,
good health facilities and insurance, emergency response like 911, good road networks, low crime rate etc but you're happy with the current Lagos. Have you reviewed places like Cairo, Kigali, Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Nairobi and see that Lagos has a lot of gaps to close?

I agree with the woman that not agreeing to protest against Tinubu is tribalism
tollyboy5:
grin Let's learn how to live together. My uncle use to tell me, when people say nonsense you give it back to them.
Let them know they're saying nonsense!
But my mum said I should always avoid trouble.
I chose that of my mum. When I grew older I took the advice of my uncle and both worked for me in different time.
At a younger age I will always here trashy talk and might not want to fire back.

Like for instance one lovely igbo woman that use to give me alot of goodies told me to do my research well, that my ancestors were from Ogun state not Lagos Epe.
She said many of this Yoruba are not from Lagos that Lagos is a mixed state.
I fired back immediately that she should not tell me my history and what I know.
The whole Epe territory is Ijebu land before Lagos state and Ogun state came to be.
So this is our land and we're majorly ijebu.
She had to keep quiet.

Another day we were talking about bad government and I said it clearly that I don't like tinubu but I can't join a protest against his government now, I'm optimistic and besides Lagos will benefit alot.

She said that's tribalism, I said it's personal interest.

Our different view doesn't mean we should stop being friends you know.

Once I enter alaba and someone drags my hand, "oga game, laptop, candle, aeroplane etc I get am 4 my store".
Sometimes I just laugh and pass, sometimes if I'm pissed I'll tell him "I go comot yah teeth now".

I understand igbos very well, they are nice people but if you don't call them to order they will ride you.
One of my neighbor that I use to play with daughter and buy things for her. Despite all this my good jesture, this woman will always spoil my parol with any babe wey i wan knack!

Once she sees me with uju, the next thing I'll see is her advising the girl grin
She did that with chibuzor and Ada too.
I no later see those babes knack!
I just laugh 4 my mind, I would have applied pressure but I reserve my pressure for better things.
I stop buying anything for her which reduce how I buy stuff for her daughter grin
But we're still friends.
Those are my experience with igbos sofar.

All I see is hatred from you towards the Igbos disguised as caution/advice.

What is the real purpose of your thread? Seems to me its to denigrate the Igbos because I don't see why one Igbo man and woman will be the reason for mentioning the entire Igbo.

You said you wonder why many tribe hates the Igbos? Its because its difficult to compete against the Igbos and win. So, what you see is envy!

I'm happy they called you Igbo in Lagos because in the South, if you're not Yoruba,
the Yorubas see you as Igbo and in war situations, you'll be hurt without asking if you're really Igbo so if you think you're doing Igbos, you're doing yourself
payaseriy:
First and foremost. I am from the Niger Delta and the Igbos are the closest relatives we have but the truth must be said without bias or favouritism.

Growing up, i never truly understood why people in Warri(Agbarho) would say "no one should sell land to Igbo man'. It was not hate, but something the Urhobo observed about the nature of the Igbo men wanting to snatch their lands and impose dominance.

My people don't really like the Igbos. I didnt know why at first until i was a victim of an Igbo man. We had a striving business until an Igbo man came close and opened a shop next to ours. Within few weeks, he would stand close to the road and whenever someone wanted to enter our shop, he would call them and lure them over. It was a very annoying character, some of these people would later inform us that the igbo man was saying our products are substandard and that our price are way too higher.

I didn't stay enough to tolerate the nonsense because i later stopped going to the shop and left the business to my younger brother. Months later, i went to the shop and was surprised how the Igbo man would draw people away and even have the audacity to come to our shop to collect goods for them.

My stupid brother allowed this to happened. It was a very difficult times for our business. His desperation to make money would drive him to even kill a man.

They actually did something that led to the death of my father, that's a story for another time.

I had a girlfriend at home before i gained admission into the university. Then one holiday, my girlfriend told me that same igbo man came to her and told her i wont marry her and that am promiscuous and was only using her, and so much more. The igbo man was troubling the little girl and because of her incessant complain of what the Igbo man was saying to her, i decided to stay off. I left the girl.

Barely six months later, she was pregnant and abadoned. How time flies!

Still i never hated an entire tribe because of the evil of some of the people. I can say more than hundred of evil that igbo men had done to me and my family in Warri. One of such time, an igbo woman poisoned our dog, yes, we know she did it because she was our tenant and when the dog was vomiting, it was same thing she had on her. Plus, she had often threatened to kill the dog for invading her rented space.

It was very painful because that dog was our first dog and my elder brother bought me that dog the day i was born. I was about 10 when the dog died. Same years as the dog, i cried and for the first time in my life, i saw tears on my Dad's face.

Alot happened since then bt let save them for later...

Many years later, i went to lagos to stay with a friend. And one of those days, my car got broken and i decided to take public transport.

I got into one and while the car was still in transit, a man(presumably a yoruba man), did something that got a lady pissed off in the cab. I interfered and told the man his wrong and the next thing he said to me was "These Igbo boys, we go deal with all of ona..." i could read the hate on his expression. But i was no Igbo boy, as a matter of fact, i am an Urhobo boy, a tribe so complex that wont even sell a piece of land to Igbo or yoruba man.

So many tribes Hate Igbo and i don't imagine why. They are full of themselves and think the entire country revolves around them, they forget they are just one out of 250 ethnic group in Nigeria.

The yoruba man feels threatened by the existence of the Igbo man. I don't blame them. Even i feel repugnant at the character of many of them, mostly my current Neighbor that defames me at all opportunity.

But we must learn to co exist. The bad eggs are many but that doesnt mean we should throw away the entire basket. The Igbo man has wronged me even more than many people attacking them, bt i can't hate an entire ethnic group because 100s of them stepped on my toes.

Fighing and hating on Nairaland is not the right way to express yourself. Like the Bible says" doing the right thing, is what makes a nation great".

Don't be a tribalist ( almost like Racist), let learn to tolerate and coexist, but don't sell your land to them o... Lol.

Anyways, please lets coexist

That is not the reason but using insults as excuse. Buhari's supporters killed about a thousand people when he lost in 2011. He is also from the Fulani with the Fulani herdsmen designated as the fourth deadliest terrorist groups globally, yet they voted for him.

The real reason is that Obi is an Igbo man!
FreedomfromtheT:
I have been reading this narrative of people saying that they are not supporting Peter Obi because of his supporters who are mostly insultiive and intolerant of
dissenting opinions.
The question is this: who has Peter Obi himself insulted?
Are you voting for Peter Obi to repair the damage done to the economy, the security, the health and psyche of our dear nation or are you voting for his supporters?
A lot of people insulted former president Goodluck Jonathan during his tenure. Did you back out from voting his opponent former Muhammadu Buhari because of his saucy supporters?
