Politics › Re: Redesign Naira, Make It Scarce, What Game Is Emefiele Playing? by DMerciful(m): 3:22pm On Jan 26, 2023
Why are you guys cowardly ignoring the elephant in the room Bubu. Emefile is acting Bubu's script 100%
9jatriot:
When CBN announced that it was redesigning the currency, many speculated that it was targeted at politician particularly Tinubu to prevent vote buying.
There were however some who said the idea was a bad one because Nigeria is predominantly a cash-based economy and that many artisans can only be paid with cash as against transfers that we all thought CBN was trying to promote.

Yet, just a few days to the deadline there are still a lot of people who have not even set their eyes on the currency not to talk of having it. The main reason why Emefiele's actions are suspect is mostly because he spent 100 million to buy the presidential form, an action never before heard on in the world where the CBN governor is also a card carry member of a party.
Emefiele did not just stop there, many people forget that he also went to court to preempt anyone preventing him from contesting, it was only public outcry and the possibility that he would lose his position as CBN governor that made him jettison that idea.

My question now is, what game exactly is he playing? Is he a mole that wants to cause as much damage as possible with an aim to paint the administration under which he is serving, bad. If in the coming days people cannot access their cash and cannot pay 100 for transport, who do you think they will take their revenge on?

I do not even want to talk about his complete mismanagement of the economy, as a matter of fact I did write some time ago that his incompetence was being covered then by Mrs Kemi Adeosun, the former finance minister, you can read the thread here https://www.nairaland.com/7272183/emefiele-nigerian-economy-went-down

Politics › Re: What The North (buhari And His Gang) Is Doing To Bola Tinubu Is Not Fair. by DMerciful(m): 2:53pm On Jan 26, 2023
Tinubu had it coming alright
sirjamesjnr:
I support Peter Obi because I believe it to be just and reasonable, but this does not cause me to act foolishly or lose my sense of reason. We the Southern Nigerian now only a pale shell of what we once were, and the northern political elite laughs at us. Knowing that we have limited political understanding, they may simply deceive us and treat us like second-class citizens. The situation is becoming worse by the hour, and all we do is play dirty politics, be jealous of one another, divide and conquer, and act like a directionless set of individuals.

Everyone is aware of how much money is spent on the presidential election. To get into it, you need to be affluent or have a lot of support. If someone believes that Tinubu cannot access money because the ink on our currency has been changed, they lack a thinking brain. The current administration is causing confusion and harming the APC badly reputation. You, a Southerner, are aware of the beneficiaries of the Northern political class's absurd game.

Politics, as we all know, is centered on interests, whether they be individual or societal. The Northerner class and Tinubu have a gentlemanly arrangement, but as usual, they are plotting to break that trust. If the president were seeking reelection for a second term, could he really allow gasoline issues to continue for this long? If he became the candidate, could he possibly enact measures that would make APC seem so bad? He is undermining all of his party candidate's efforts. Why can't he carry out a straightforward agreement?

Why can't we give a hand of fellowship to each other, aid the winner in governance in order to improve peace, trust, and unity among the Southerner? Winner take all syndrome has persisted to produce bitterness and rancor. Why can't we stop trying to be the underdog and start working together so the Northerner can see us as EQUAL.

Any wrongdoing is wrong. When Obi wins, which I believe he will, I want Tinubu return home in peace if the North permits a fair contest. I want Tinubu to have a fair challenge.
Politics › Re: Currency Swap: Gbajabiamila Threatens Warrant Of Arrest Against Emefiele by DMerciful(m): 2:50pm On Jan 26, 2023
If Tinubu tries nonsense, he will be arrested and heaven will not fall. Who will fight the war? Which war was fought for MKO? Let Tinubu go and withdraw large cash and see the outcome.
Rubbish
Godwin4444:
so u are telling me it’s only bullion van that can b used to transport money?

All those tinted cars u don’t know it can b used?

U are a kid if u believe at this stage any presidential aspirant will b arrested
It will just lead to war

I know u support peter obi, even if peter obi is caught with a human head at this stage will u believe any explanation

I know for sure u will claim he was roped n set up, n if they persist u will cause chaos n u will find every possible means of stopping d election without your candidate on d ballot

That is the same thing that will play out if any other candidate is arrested

We know that Tinubu wanting the extension of the old note isnt borne out of noble cause but for vote buying
Iamgrey5:
Under the constitution, the CBN is directly under the legislative arm of government,

However, in Nigeria like most third world countries, the legislative arm of government is still under the Executive.

Side note:
Isn't it amazing that people who said they won't vote Tinubu because of Buhari's failures and now praising the failures of Buhari.

So do you hate Buhari's failures or you just want a reason to hate Tinubu? 😁

So whenever a new company comes to Lagos, and you start celebrating shortsightedly, know the implications!

Its not as if those companies would necessarily better the lives of indigenes because recruitment is based on merit and its nationwide due to diversity laws

Is Osun not peaceful, what about Ekiti?

Anyways, suit yourself! Very soon indigenous people of Lagos will become super minority in Lagos just like the First nations of Canada
omonnakoda:
Lagos state was created in 1967 It was never capital of Nigeria

Nothing in Lagos State was built with Niger delta oil because not it gave more than it received
It was partly Lagos money used to give twenty pounds to Board and in 1970
The decision to move Lagos to Abuja was taken 1975 and the FG deinvested in Lagos from then.
After 30 years with unprecedented investment in Abuja why is it not generating revenue like Lagos?
The simple truth is that Lagos has given Nigeria more wealth than any oil producing state
It is peaceful and that is why it attracts investment

Why is no one building a refinery in Delta state
Business › Re: Billionaire Sayyu Dantata Launches $450m Lubricant Plant In Lagos by DMerciful(m): 10:36am On Jan 25, 2023
In due time you'll understand.
KosiGee:
You can attract investment, manage it and at the same time preserve your cultural heritage.

Edinburgh hasn’t lost its Celtic heritage. Great city but the kilts, bagpipes and the tartan will be the first thing you’ll notice when you come out of the Waverley.
Dubai has attracted great investment but has managed to preserve it Arabic and cultural heritages.
Paris hasn’t lost it cultural heritage, Shanghai and Beijing haven’t, Rome has not.

Both can sit side by side and complement each other.
A great Lagos will be a pride.

I dont need to, i have as much rights in Lagos as everyone else. No governor can ask me not to stay in Lagos by virtue of being a Nigerian
efeski:
Well you're entitled to your opinion.
Next time you have reason to fill in State of Origin in a document feel free to insert Lagos state.
That's the last I'll say on this
Business › Re: Billionaire Sayyu Dantata Launches $450m Lubricant Plant In Lagos by DMerciful(m): 10:23am On Jan 25, 2023
I'm not speaking out of hate. What I am telling you is that the more you encourage industries to come to Lagos, the more you lose Lagos because more people would be attracted by those industries thereby further diluting the local population.

Some myopic persons erroneously think all development is good...they never think of overcrowding, loss of traditional heritage et all.

No matter the revenue gotten from these companies, life won't be decent because you've too many people in a small space
omonnakoda:
Lagos State is not just Apapa

That plant is in Apapa
It is not sitting on virgin land but on land which their family has controlled for long used for other business
There is a lot of rural Lagos with still communities off grid and no electricity.
There are still virgin forests in Lagos state with monkeys and significant rural farming
There are Ibos from the Delta growing cassava and making garri in Lagos
Most people who claim to know the state only know metropolitan Lagos
People have been displaced in Lagos ,because of economic pressure, The same is true in Port Harcourt,Abuja,London and elsewhere
The main displacement is not even Land
Our families were fishermen now they catch very little because of pollution ,overcrowding etc and some parts of the Lagoon have dried up
You are not speaking out of love but spite
Singapore has 5 million people and an area of 760 square Kilometres
Lagos State is Five times the area of Singapore. So it is not unprecedented but we need to use land smarter
Business › Re: Billionaire Sayyu Dantata Launches $450m Lubricant Plant In Lagos by DMerciful(m): 10:13am On Jan 25, 2023
If you want all industries in Lagos, they'd come and make your standard of living hellish. Eventually you'll not be able to stay as the cost of Land would prevent you from building a house in Lagos.
Ghidey:
This shows your level of thinking. Because you want to build house now factories should not be built. And you are part of leaders of tommorow.
So if you were the governor of Lagos state you wont allow factories because you want to build mansion.
Have you ever seen industrial nations that don't have a place for citizens to live? I pity for the next generation.
Business › Re: Billionaire Sayyu Dantata Launches $450m Lubricant Plant In Lagos by DMerciful(m): 10:10am On Jan 25, 2023
Lagos was capital from 1914 to 1990. Major infrastructures, embasies, headquarters of co.panies were established there, major roads and bridges built from Niger Delta oil as well as allocations.

If Yorubas built Lagos, why have they not replicated it in other Yoruba states?

Nigerians built Lagos and it belongs equally to all Nigerians. Proximity is favouring Yorubas to havr voting majority
efeski:
Your claim of 100% is not true mon ami.
There's lots of investments owned by private individuals. Do your research.
When it was the seat of government back then before IBB moved it to FCT I agree that alot development can be ascribed to that fact but that was years ago.

Lagos has a lot of factors that still make it attractive for non indigenes to settle there and thrive. That this translates to rapid development and industrialization over time does not mean they should claim ownership of the state.

Stop this false narrative already.

Once upon a time Warri used to be very peaceful and had a booming economy.
Then youth restiveness reared its ugly head and most oil companies have relocated to other states.
Today all the youths engage in either keke or Yahoo or pastor jobs

Today insecurity is ravaging the east.
I need not mention book haram.

Point is, no one will willingly want to do business in an environment that's not conducive and where his investment is constantly under threat

You know its the truth. Even you from Lagos has been displaced from producing the governor since 1999. Tinubu from Osun, Fashola from Ekiti, Ambode from Ondo, Sanwo-Olu from Ogun...Jimi Agbaje from Lagos rejected, Jandor is from Lagos...lets see if he'd
