An anonymous whistle blower in the CBN has disclosed to Abuja Network News how Dino Melaye and some heavyweight PDP stalwarts smuggled a whooping N50b out of the CBN using special utility vehicles to ferry the cash to an undisclosed location in Abuja under the cover of the night.

The whistle blower said the exercise was conducted over a period of three days under strict instructions and surveillance by a popular director in the bank who is known be sympathetic to the PDP. Also saying mechanism has been put in place for onward distribution of the funds to some key Northern states as mobilisation fees popularly called mobulus in the PDP jargon.

The whistle blower was angry that Dino removed him from the exercise after helping to perfect the deal both on paperwork and in the loading of the cash.

The vehicles used to transport the said funds belongs to Sokoto, Delta and Adamawa, state governments and carriers the seal of the State governors and security details.

As at the time of filing this report our investigation is yet to confirm if the vehicles and the security details belongs to those state governments or not.

It could be recalled that earlier today ANN reports how some PDP stakeholders shares N150,000 new Naira notes to over 50 ward executive members and a select group of PDP stakeholders in Kabusa ward of Abuja municipal area council of the FCT, apparently that was the source of the said funds.

Investigation is ongoing as to other motives of the said funds and who and who are involve in the disbursement and or the source of the said funds.

In similar vein earlier today President Buhari laments the insincerity of the banks in disbursing the newly redesigned notes which led to scarcity of cash and has paralysed economic activities across the country. The president promises to use the remaining seven days of the extension by the CBN to crackdown on saboteurs and corrupt elements in the banking system disrupting the speedy implementation of the policy.

The last few days has seen so much hardshio visited on innocent Nigerians because of an ill-timed politically motivated naira redesign policy. People don't have cash to transact daily businesses and many queue daily in banks, ATMs and POS, some fighting physically and going naked. There are even states in Nigeria where there are just banks in two out of 27 local govt, people there are right now just sitting at home doing nothing as there is no more means of trade.

There are four major candidates for this month's presidential elections. Asiwaju Tinubu has come out forcefully against the implementation of the policy and senior members of his campaign have openly criticized even the president for it drawing his attention to the suffering of the people. This perhaps has led to some modifications by the CBN. Atiku Abubakar too called for extension though he is now backtracking but at least he realized the suffering of the people and has made appeals on their behalf. Rabiu Kwankwaso has vehemently opposed the timing and implementation citing the present hardship the people are going through. But Peter Obi has been silent, he has taken no position and aired no position. To the suffering of the people he shows no sympathy.

It is true the political class are really not affected cos they can get their cash anyway after all big men don't go to ATMs or POS or even banking queues. Big men always have their cash. But what of the poor Obidient who for a week now has not opened her shop, has not been able to find cash to buy her medicine or food for her children? As a leader Peter Obi ought to speak for them but he is not.
