“But if he insists that he wants to run and wants to become the president, as we are already seeing it playing out, his political ending may not be as palatable as he is thinking because right now, from his political family, he has lost substantial people, probably sixty to seventy per cent,” Bwala added. Obi’s alliance with Atiku would be a “mistake.”
Bwala also addressed the growing speculation about a possible alliance between Atiku and Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, warning that any such move could be politically disastrous for Obi.
He said, “And then the conversation with Peter Obi – Peter Obi will be making the biggest mistake of his life to now come together under the agreement that he will be a running mate because all of the people you are hearing ‘Obidient’ had only one contract with Peter Obi, that he will run for president.
“The minute Peter Obi drops the idea of running for president himself, I can guarantee you he will lose the majority of the people that are following him. This is without taking away the fact that Peter Obi himself may not be comfortable in that arrangement.”
Obi had previously served as Atiku’s running mate under the PDP in the 2019 general elections before launching his own presidential bid in 2023.
I make comments on Peter Obi and it doesn't get deleted.
PressMyButton: Does it mean I can't mention the name given to him by his father?. Sometimes, if I make a comment about him on front page with the names you suggested, it gets deleted. They want you to keep it clean. But what's shocking to me is why I can't even mention his original name in my comments.
Even if convicted, those are not criminal allegations but civil. The APC govt is using VDM for distraction, he is not a target
nikky5: I love VDM. I love his charisma and doggedness. He is brave and articulate. He is loved by the Nigeria youth and earned the appelation of PRESIDENT OF THE NIGERIA YOUTH.
I have watched many of his videos online as one of his followers. I discovered he makes unguided statements that could get him into trouble.
His recent arrrest at the GTB may be unconnected with the bank. The bank created the alibi for his arrest. This is because he had gone there with his mum to lodge a complain about inlawful withdrawals from his mum's account.
He might have been trailed by the EFCC to the bank and waited for his exit before arresting him.
He was not arrested within the bank premises or in the banking hall. They could have effected the arrest there. That would have sent a wrong signal.
The sins of VDM in my candid opinion may be bordered on cyberbulling. The rejoinder he sent to the Arewa youth president might have prompted a petition on cyberbullying.
The EFCC also came on the cyber backlash. How dare you accuse the agency of corruption which you cannot prove. How can you tell the world that you have moles planted in the EFCC. He really goofed and his time is up. His fanbase and the huge support he enjoys from the Nigeria people might have gotten into his head forgetting that he is not above the law.
I also read something online about VDM and Chioma Chinwe which I cannot wrap my head around.
I am afraid his videos are enough evidence the court will.rely upon. Nigeria is a country I cannot die for. If he choses to die for his country, good for him. His name will be written in gold in the annals of the activists who sacrificed their lives for Nigerians.
I pray Providence help him to come out unscathe from this trouble. There is absolutely nothing anyone can do since the law is the final arbiter. The EFCC will do everything within the confines of their powers to seek a pound of flesh.
You guys have started applauding a rubb1sh policy without thoughtfulness.
Does Nigeria currently have the capacity to produce these goods? Do you know the inflation that would arise from this?
You build capacity locally before you ban by subsidizing the manufacturing of these goods first
SoftSport: Well done to President Tinubu for trying to help Nigerian businesses grow and make more things in our own country, this is a good step for Nigeria.
VDM is a controlled opposition. His arrest is meant yo be a diversion from Seyi Tinubu's alleged kidnap and torture of NANS president as well as the alleged missing 71 billion from NELFUND.
Nigerians, wake up!!!
Procashtips: We can now see these people have nothing on VDM.
nyejar: Oh really? Everybody is saying he’s gay; that’ he’s the only son of Peter Obi. Some also claim PO has disowned him due to his way of life. In fact, some also claim he put a curse of his father for how he brought him up. How can someone of this emblem be a nice guy? I disagree with you, and go with the public opinion.
If someone is deemed to have commited an offense, the person is charged to court where if its a bailable offense, the person is granted bail pending trial. If its not a bailable offense esp from criminal cases, the person is detained until trial.
This is justice not blackmailing someone to give up his fundamental human rights
helinues: We are yet to know the allegations against him, true or fabricated but whatever the case may be, the issue is somehow becoming national which is unnecessary distraction.
If his offense is about online slandering, let VDM apologize to the person who he might have offended and retract whatever statements involved
Secondly, he should sign an agreement with which ever the security operatives that arrested him to stay of social media for at least 3 months and if possibly his passport should be seized for that 3 months.
They can then release him based on those conditions just to make peace to reign .
He, VDM must have learned within the few days he was arrested that being controversial have it's own consequences. He should slow down. With all what he has been doing, tell him to contest for ordinary political position and see if those who he has been fighting for will vote for him. Sowore is a good example
In the murky waters of Nigerian politics, few figures stood as boldly—or controversially—as Senator Natasha. She built her reputation not only on her activism but on a long list of unverifiable accusations, each more dramatic than the last.
2019: A Plot in the Shadows?
The first bombshell came in 2019, when she accused then-Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting to assassinate her. The claim sent shockwaves through political circles, but as investigations unfolded, no evidence emerged. Bello dismissed it as a desperate attempt to gain sympathy ahead of the Kogi elections.
lumens: I think he needs to learn not to contest in every election cycle. You may not like Tinubu but he was patiently building his party and he knew he won't win until the coalition that birthed APC.
Atiku may have lost the presidency forever by that impatient action of defecting to APC in 2014.
Unless Obi deputise for him, he can't be president
lumens: Nigerian politics like every other one requires some strategies and political calculations including alignments, defections, patience and a stroke of luck.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a serial Nigerian politician. Having served as the former vice-president of the country between 1999-2007, he has been contesting for the highest office in the land since 1993.
In the build up to the 2015 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar led some governors out of the PDP and forged an alignment that birthed the current APC.
In my opinion, Atiku could have thrown his weight behind Goodluck Jonathan and ensured he won the 2015 election. This is what President Bola Tinubu did when he patiently waited for President Buhari to finish eight years before throwing his hat into the ring.
The gang up against President Jonathan in 2015 that ensured his defeat ended Atiku's hopes of ever becoming President of Nigeria.
Form your own movement and leave Obidients out of your mouth
aswani: The writers lack of truthfulness in acknowledging that the exposure of the tribal tinge related to the Obidient movement has destroyed it completely is a shame.
Let's get another movement going to stand up to APC and PDP and this time, let's all come to equity with clean hands, ok Obidients?
How is the EFCC responsible for cyberstalking? Why are you guys ruining your country?
Jakumo: Wow this man has a long history of poking his nose into other people's business and making noise while posing to show off his muscles.
My prediction is that when our Very Daft Man emerges from EFCC custody, he will have discovered the importance of humility and minding one's own business.
You're speaking from both sides of your mouth. On one hand you said its not EFCC job to arrest someone for cyberstalking, on the other hand, you said he deserves it.
SMH!
helinues: When people was advising him to slow down, his supporters thought we were saying nonsense. The guy is new online, he doesn't even know how social media works..
In Africa, only a foolish person fight for the masses
Those who supposed to have come out to help him out, he has attacked almost all of them all in the name of being bold. Hahahaha
Fenomenal124: Religion follow make Nigeria dey like this. That’s why I don’t waste my data to download this gospel songs, majority of them are more wayward than touts that live in Calabar south
See what I told you about winning the fights but losing the war? North has been winning politically yet every developmental index shows they're losing.
Politics is a means to an end, not the end itself. The end is good governance. When there's no good governance, only the few elites win, never the people!
